Félix almost felt insulted being asked not to peek. “Of course I won't,” he objected hotly. He was far too much a proper man for that. He may be shirtless and wandering through the woods, but he at least had some semblance of civility left in him. No monstrous creature possessing his soul would change.

To prove his point, Félix turned away from the lake so the only thing facing Agnés was his long white hair. He kept his eyes trained on and around the deer carcass, ignoring the splashing of water behind him. It was... unfortunately true that he was tempted to try and sneak one small look, but his courtesy and self-control won out.

“I'm not peeking,” Félix blushed in mild frustration, though he knew she was just teasing. He was starting to wonder if she wanted him to look. No... he wouldn't. This was already far too scandalous for him, having seen so much leg and leading a girl to bathe near him. And all these advances from her, to a taken man no less! But still he played along, and not just for her sake.

Félix was finally settling himself in on the rock when he heard a branch snap in the distance. He didn't dare look, though he could hear Agnés still splashing in the lake. Immediately after, Agnés gave out a shrill cry. She didn't ask for help, but Félix still worried. What came next, in that strong breeze, answered Félix's worrying question.

First it was her bra landing by his feet. Félix looked away from it for a moment, his face hot. He reached out with his foot to hold it in place, but otherwise he avoided looking at it.

And then it hit him right on the head. Félix could not bear to wonder what it was. He pulled it from his hair with just the tip of his fingers and, against all reason, checked what it was. His skin turned nearly purple. “Uh, umm-”

With with a thin tendril, Félix gingerly grabbed both pieces of underwear and, like some crab, shuffled sideways towards both the beach and the bush she changed in. Along the way, he found her tunic as well. Oh dear... He picked it up with another tendril.

“I'll – I'll just put this right back!” Félix stammered. He continued his little shuffle until he found her shorts as well. Without a word, he placed them back on another branch, wrapping them around it to try and keep them in place.

“There,” he sighed, still keeping his head turned from Agnés. He went straight back to his rock and sat in that same position, trying to let the blood come out of his face. “I'm still not peeking,” he insisted.

Through the cracks in her figures she watched as the horror unfolded in front of her. This wasn't supposed to be how it went, she'd take a little swim, he'd maybe catch a little peak of butt and that was all, but now he had been assaulted by her underwear.

As Félix came closer Agnés sank into the water so that everything below her nose was now submerged. As she watched him, she became cognoscente of just how clear this water was. She covered herself as best she could, and hoped between that and the ripples created by her shivering body would obscure her enough a little.

As he got back to his rock Angés made a mad dash to get behind the bush that she'd hidden behind before. As she stood there he entire body was red, and her teeth were chattering from the four degree water.

When Agnés looked up to her clothing she saw that they had been placed on a higher branch than before. She jumped hoping to catch that trailing end of her tunic, but not luck. Jumping again, she manged to catch the branch that had previously held her clothing on it, pulling it down the branch refused to break, and when she let it go it shot up, missing her clothes and the branch by a wide margin, but shot back at her delivering a decisive blow to her right cheek. She fell back from a mixture of the force of the blow and the surprise. Touching her face there was a large gash where the branch had hit her. She sat on the ground looking up at her cloths sitting on that branch mocking her as she waited for the wound to close by itself. Once it did she quickly washed the new blood off of her, there'd be no point after all this is she was just bloodied again.

She shot a look to where Félix was, making sure that he wasn't spying on her repeated failures at getting dressed. The only other option that she had left that she saw was knocking at least her tunic down with her shoes. Picking up one shoe she felt its weight in her hand, and then threw it at the tunic and watched as it connected, but even after the tunic moved a little from the force it just stayed there as the shoe fell to the other side of the bush she was behind. Taking up the other shoe, she knew it was her last hope, she glared at the tunic as it gently swayed in the wind.

With all the might she could muster she launched her shoe and it flew through the air, this time just grazing the tunic as it flew. Her heart sank as she saw it fly, the shoe eventually landed just a metre or two away from Félix. She moped to herself silently for a minute as she knew what she had to do now.

"Um, F-, uh F-" she couldn't get the words to come, what was he going to think about her. She really wasn't the type of girl just to get naked with guys, what if he though she wanted him to do... things? They just couldn't, they'd only known one another for a few hours. Of course she knew girls who only needed to know a guy long enough to make sure they were clean of any VDs, but that type of girl was the exception right?

She mustered what courage she could. "F- uh Félix. I can't... I can't reach where you put them." She stood so just her head wasn't obscured by the bush. Her face was still red, partly from the chill of the water she was still feeling and partly from the embarrassment. Even if she was sure her body couldn't be seen through the bush she did her best to hide her modesty anyways, a bush wasn't much in the ways of clothes.

He could still hear her struggling. In all honesty, he was losing a bit of his patience when he thought she was just trying to tease him into looking. Maybe she was. She already feigned struggling to get him to stare at her thigh, and now she wanted to tease him more. Problem was, he nearly had the urge to do it.

On the other hand, this sounded far more genuine. She eventually spat out his name, and instead of turning to see her he replied, “Yes?” Apparently she needed his help, and it was a bit his fault for where he put them. “Oh...” Félix stood up and shuffled back to the tree. He didn't realize it was so high up, but then again, he did use his tentacles.

He could hear her hiding behind some bush, but one advantage of having her clothes higher up meant Félix could keep his head trained skyward. He wouldn't have to worry about accidentally catching her in his glance. Félix's face was still red when he pulled each article of clothing down from the branch, setting it on a dry rock fairly close to her bush.

“I'm sorry, I didn't meant to put it up so high.” Félix looked away from the spot again and waited for her to get changed. He desperately hoped there wouldn't be any more trouble. He still had to carry a deer home before it went bad.

“I suppose you're clean enough?” Félix asked, still looking away. She was only in the water to bathe, after all.

The rock that Angés' clothes were on was damp, but still close enough that should could grab her various articles without having to worry about Félix getting an eye full. The game had stopped being fun when that accursed gust of wind came and stole her clothing.

As quickly as her numb fingers would allow she slipped into her clothes, making sure everything was just how she wanted it. Taking a quick peek at herself in the reflection of the water and quickly trying to tame her hair a bit she walked out from behind the bush and up to Félix.

"Thanks for the help." She smiled up at him with a gentle smile, a real smile. "So uh, how do I look?" Her hair was matted from the water and a brown leaf was sticking out from one side of her head. The tunic was on backwards, was sandy and wrinkled from when she had rung it out, though still managed to tell of the figure underneath. She chewed on her lip, wondering if she had been pushing him too hard.

Even when he finally got another glimpse of her, it was hard to stay the embarrassment. Her tunic was wrinkled up and sticking to her figure, giving away her shape. Her hair turned into a nest, but really, it didn't bother him. What bothered him was how he didn't know how to answer that. Should he just be straight, and say she looked fine? Should he try to channel his brother? You look like you had fun without me, he'd probably say.

“You look...” Félix froze. He could see it on her face, that bit of uncertainty. Félix wasn't that dumb about feelings. And she could probably feel his own dread at this point. He dreaded what he'd say. How he might regret saying a single word. He wouldn't get a chance to say another descriptor. Once he said that word, it'd cling to Agnés just like her tunic.

He was seriously over-thinking this. Thank goodness he was a fast, analytical thinker. Being a genius helped sometimes. Why couldn't he know exactly what to say, like Eric? The goddamn brat.

Finally, Félix stepped closer to Agnés. He reached out with one hand and plucked the stray leaf from her hair, letting it go into the gentle breeze. “Better,” Félix exhaled. “Cleaner of course, and... better.” He rubbed his right arm, looking back at the deer carcass then to Agnés. He hoped she wouldn't freeze along the way, though maybe the walk would warm her up.

“Shall we get going?” he asked quietly, eyes still largely avoiding anything below her face.

Agnés just watched Félix as he struggled to find the right words to describe her, the word he finally came to 'better' had not been the one she would have expected him to choose, who chose 'better' she thought to herself. As he rambled on, she kept a smile on her face. He was clearly trying his best.

"Thanks." Her voice was chipper as ever. All the while she looked up to him.

When Félix asked Agnés if they should be going she nodded. The meat wouldn't keep long and she should get to cleaning it, and some how finding room to stuff all of it into her fridge. She found herself amazed when he picked up the deer again, so effortlessly.

As they walked they didn't say much, she found it very strange to be talking to him all the while looking the deer in the mouth, she tried to keep up the conversation, but she couldn't remember a thing that was said while they walked.

Agnés breathed a heavy sigh of relief when they came to the road. When she looked around she was surprised just how quickly they had gotten to where they were, she recognized the section of the road, it wasn't too far from where she had been living. It would likely take him significantly longer to get to his home than it would to get to hers.

She walked up the middle of the road pretending to balance on the painted yellow lines. Carefully she put each foot in front of the other. She wanted to ask him question about himself, like when he had found out that he was different. But she didn't want to tell him about her eight attempts and that always seemed to come up when ever she tried to talk to another about the powers that they had.

So she continued to walk, talking about nothing, about what ever came to her mind. About the boat ride she took to this island and how it was the first time that she had ever been on a boat. Than it occurred to her, was she talking with him or to him? And she fell silent again for a time, listening to the sound of crickets.

Finally she stopped in the middle of the road, after a minute calling to him as he continued on. "We're, ya know, here." She gave a weak smile to Félix. They were still in the middle of no where, to their left was an old house that looked like it could be the set piece for a horror movie. The next closet house was just a speck in the distance. A single lonely bundle of cables ran to the roof of the house.

It was as though she was seeing the house for the first time. She'd only lived there for a month now and hadn't had enough time to clean up the outside, her focus had been on the inside, where the last resident had been a family of raccoons and the last human inhabitants had left near as she could tell two decades prior, selling all of their land to a neighbour and leaving the island for good.

The storm shutters were grey and worn, while one of the eavestrough rain from one corner of the house straight to the ground. The screen door was off of its bottom hinge, leaning in a way that didn't look natural. The stone steps best described as small islands of concrete in the front lawn rather than a path to the door.

"Um, can you wait out here for just a moment?" She didn't wait for her answer before she was dashing down the broken path, and through the door that sat on a single rusted hinge. Dashing she found herself in the room she had managed to turn into a study, She grabbed a single sheet of lavender paper and scribbled a note on it.

As soon as she was done she dashed into her bathroom, ignoring the state of her living room, the coffee table that doubled as her dinner table and was currently buried in a sea of cup o' ramen plastic cups.

Sliding to a stop on the cracked tile floor of her bathroom. She popped open her medican cabinet and grabbed a tube of lipstick out of it, it was a pink one, and had a gentle shade that wasn't too far from her own natural colour. When she closed the cabinet and caught a her own reflection she had a moment of pause. She really looked horrid, when Félix said she looked better before he was being generous, she saw that now.

The thought of just what the hell she was doing came to her mind, but it left as quickly as it came. She applied the lipstick as carefully as she could while still hurrying. Placing the note against the mirror she gave it a quick kiss, leaving a mark of the still drying lipstick on the bottom corner of the note.

Now she was back to her frantic rush, from her linen closet she took what was now a giant rage though at one point it was the bedding for a queen size bed now it would be the bedding for a deer to be cleaned. In her other hand she waved the note wanting ever bit of it to dry as quickly as possible. When she came to the door she paused, she didn't want to go out there waving this note around. Taking one last moment before exiting the house she folded the note, and looked around, trying to figure out where to put the note, her pockets were next to non-existent, and everything below her waste was to this point still dripping at regular intervals.

Agnés had not choice carefully she put the note down her tunic, making sure that it was secure and wouldn't randomly fall out while she was laying down the bedding.

She rocketed out of the front door, the sheets in her hand. Félix had put down the deer, not that she could blame him, how long had she been in there anyways. "Sorry that took so long." She began laying out the bedding that she would soon be working on, and before she realized it had happened the deer was on the sheets ready to be butchered.

"Wow, thanks so much for all your help, it would have been a real pain to get this guy out here if you hadn't come along." she wiped a little sweat off of her brow after she said that.

When he had turned to go down the road she suddenly remembered the note and took it out of his hiding place. She jogged after him for a minute before popping up in front of him, too close really almost getting stepped on. "Ah, sorry, I uh meant to give you this earlier, so uh bye!" And with that she ran at her full tilt back to her place to get ready to work on the deer.

This was not what he expected of her house at all. In the middle of nowhere seemed like a bad place to build a home, and frankly it looked that way given its dilapidation. But at the same time, he could understand Agnés wanting to live here if it meant hunting undisturbed by either the city or the school. He wondered if she had a dorm as well, or if she permanently remained off campus.

Félix was about to follow her inside when Agnés asked him to wait out. “Uh, sure,” Félix wholly underestimated how long a moment could be. He frequently switched tentacles and shoulders for carrying the deer carcass. Now that he was alone with it, he couldn't help but feel a slight discomfort. Part of him worried this mutant deer would suddenly jump alive and start kicking him around.

When she came back out, Félix was all smiles again. He could have waited much longer he thought, for her. He came inside and placed the deer on her ratted linen, and made his goodbyes. He expected he'd see her again, though not so quickly as just a few paces out the door. Having Agnés stop him in his tracks was quite the surprise, but not nearly as surprising as the letter thrust into his possession.

“Oh, thank you,” he didn't have much time to say anything before she ran back inside. He supposed she didn't want to see him open the letter in front of her. As he walked away from the house, he opened it. At first, he felt appreciated and was grateful he could be of help.

And then she gave him her email. And... then her number. And right at the bottom corner, a signature that caused his cheeks to burn. Burn as much as his skin would if he tried to get a tan, unfortunately for Agnés.

He looked back at her home, now obscured by the trees around it. Félix was looking forward to his next 'hunting lesson', for sure.
