Maddie led Malvoes straight for the library. The lights were dim this time of night, and it was completely secluded. She opened the doors wide, threw her arms out, and inhaled the scent of all those books.

"Isn't it magnificent?" By the tone of her voice, she really did believe that an empty library was just amazing.

He'd smile a large genuine smile, he liked this girl, she was probably the closest to a sister that he'd ever have.

"Yeah it is beautiful."

"Oh! Oh!" She spun around, clapping as silently as she could.

"Me and Sariah used to play this game when I was a little kid, where we both went and got a non-fiction book. We would try to find the most interesting piece of information in it then ask the other one. Whoever could stump the other got a point. If you both failed the question no one got any points, same if you both get it right. Then, the winner would get to choose the next outing activity."

"That's a very interesting game, are you proposing we play it?" He did like the sound of it, he had trouble with finding people interested in reading at his home town.

"Yes! And then, like, we can make bets and have fun! And get ice cream! 123 go!"

And like that Maddie zipped off. She Skidded down the 'R' section. She wasn't very quiet, which could have been an indication to how long she'd been up. She was not in the least bit drowsy.

Malvoes shuffled through the library, wracking his brain for subjects and mutter things too himself. "Why is she up at this hour."

He'd run his finger along the books, reading the titles.

Maddie, acting like it was a race, came barreling through the pathways. "I got one! It's on," she flipped the book around and read the title. She had picked it because it had a shiny cover.

"Alchemy and signs 101."

"Uh..."He'd glance at the wall of books, looking at the cover. "I've got the history of Manta Carlos, volume 1." Huh, didn't know there was a history to the islands.

"Be wary though, I know alchemy pretty well."

"Crap!" Maddie huffed, then lifted her book like Link from the Legend of Zelda.

"To war!" She said, rushing off to one of the tables.

She flipped through the book, hoping to find something he wouldn't know. She had no idea what any of this stuff meant, so she picked something random after closing her eyes and tapping her finger on the page.

"What are the ingredients of a sleeping potion??"

"Uh...are poppies one of them?" He wasn't expecting potion alchemy he was more into the science and math of transmutation and rituals.

He'd flip though his own book, trying to get the gears in his head turning. "Alright Missy, who first established on the islands?"
