Red glowing eyes were all that could be seen through the fog. A large roar penetrated the silence, and the fog dispersed, revealing the head and neck of the mighty serpant that floated in the water not far from the dooks. It had been a long time since he had fought one, and he shook his head, holding Requiem and Revelation, preparing for the attack.

The beast swam forward, and Zaine ran to the edge of the pier and jumped at it, his blades sliding into the snake's neck. He pulled himself up onto its back, slicing its neck mercilessly as he tried to annihilate the thing. He was quickly thrown off, landing with a thud and a groan on the beach. He struggled to his feet, still holding the swords. I cant quite use these things, I might impale myself when it throws me off next time

Zain ran back up into the docks, throwing Revelation, stabbing it in the left eye. "Bingo! Now hurry up and die already!" He called to it as it came closer, impaling itself on some rocks at the end of the pier. He ran forward, collecting his sword, as well as the jewel that was stuck in its throat. "That'll teach you to steal from me!" He muttered wryly, kicking the beast's head. He turned around, pocketing the precious gem and laughing at how easily he had beaten the thing. He got to the end of the dock before a loud noise alerted him the creature wasnt quite dead. As he swung around, his eyes became empty, reflecting the loneliness and anguish of his past. His swords dropped to the ground, and he fell to his knees, crying out aloud, seeing the thing he feared and hated most of all. The thing that had caused his family to die, that had made his life horrible, and given him his inhuman ability. The karavinje, the dragon-like creature that could morph its appearance into that of any serpent. The thing he had hunted for so long, was now escaping before his very eyes. He cried out again, his voice echoing loudly.

As Enelya was walking along the beach, she heard a cry. Worried, she started running along the coastline, searching for whoever made the scream. As she ran, her bag, containing a bottle of water, a stone bowl and rock, along with various other articles such as money, hairbands, and books, was knocking against her waist, Archimedes standing on her shoulder, looked out too. Finally, she came across a young man, she ran over to him.

"Are you alright? Are you hurt?" She looked at him worriedly, and dropped to her knees beside him, making sure he wasn't wounded, or bleeding.

Zaine, unaware of who was checking on him, flung his arm up protectively, throwing the person back. He got to his feet, putting his blades away. "What makes you think I need YOUR help?" He demanded coldly. "Whatever. Just stay back from me!" He growled, turning and walking quickly away, aware of the tears in his eyes. He felt in his jacket at the precious gem he had. It had been a present, a present for his beloved Nariko. The girl he loved, who loved him back. The girl he needed more than anything or anyone. The only one he cared about. And she was gone. He had lost her during the problems at the old school. He had been hoping to find her here, but was beginning to lose hope. He fell to the ground, laying, holding the gem up to the moonlight, watching it glisten, bringing on a new round of tears and sobs, and the occasional call of Narikos name. He couldnt stand the pressure of being without her. He wished so fervently that she would show up, somewhere, sometime soon, so they could be together. Sure he had become colder, and a little different. But his feelings hadnt changed at all. He still loved Nariko all the same.

Having known Enelya was in the area, Kotah wasn't too far off practicing his throwing. The board infront of him was littered with projectiles, yet his still retained atleast half his load. He heard the echo of a cry and his violet eyes shot in the direction of the beach. He dashed off in Enelyas direction, his long, raven black hair desprately trying to keep up.

He caught up to her but kept his distance, seeing she was alright. Instead, he noticed she ran off to someone on the ground. Knowing of Enelyas caring nature, he took his time getting there and even took one of his needles out, sticking it in his mouth. He walked up as Enelya was shoved back. Becoming her shadow, his head apeared over her shoulder, both his hands pocketed. The way his colors melded into the night almost cast an illusion that included his voice, lowering it threateningly with a soft tone. "It's not nice to shove people, especially those trying to help you. I suggest you apologize." He moved his eyes to glance at Enelya and winked at her with a hidden eye.

Zaine didnt move. His thoughts were all on Nariko. I wonder how shes been..If her wings have healed...If she still remembers me..Or still loves me....I wonder if she has changed any.... It took his mind a moment to process that he was being threatened, and he was up in an instant. "Why should I apologize to a stranger who "tried to help me"? Plenty of strangers have tried to kill me! So why should I go out of my way to do something....nice for once?" He turned his back on the girl and began to walk away when his chest started burning like crazy. His gut was tight, and his mind was fogged over. He couldnt process what was happening, when suddenly it just burst into his mind as hot as the sun- "NARIKO IS NEARBY!" - He ran forward, falling to the ground. "Darn it....Stupid human body....I cant move....But..Nariko...I just know shes near.....And..This burning...Its intense...Its...Getting hotter? That means...That.....That shes coming this way!" He said to himself, not realizing he said it loud enough for the other two to hear him.

Stunned, Enelya stayed there in the sand, frowning. "I would understand why one would refuse a blade... but why refuse a helping hand?" She looked around, trying to understand this young man's rationalization. She looked up at Kotah, who winked at her, and touched his leg. Her eyes went back to the fierce man, and wondered what he had been through that caused such coldness, and craze. "I wasn't asking you to do something nice, I was trying to make sure you didn't die..." Her voice trailed off, Enelya could never understand why people were so cold at this Academy.

Nariko's eyes were turned down, looking at the precious mettle heart she was holding in her pale, almost gray hands. The jewels shined somewhat, and her index finger traced over the words. In the only eye that could be seen, the red one, the clear emotion of depression could be seen. Oh, Zaine... where are you? she thought to herself. After what had happened at Dark Crystal Academy, she didn't know what had happened to him. She wanted to hope he was still alive, but she didn't know if he was. If he was here, wouldn't she have found him by now? She feared the worst, that maybe one of those many people that had been after him had come and ended him, or that something had the school had when everything happened. She swallowed, and shook her head. Don't think that! Zaine HAS to be alright!!

She sighed, and looked up at the sky, bangs moved somewhat so that her black, blind eye could be seen. She heard voices, and her cat-like ears turned toward the two male voices and the one female voice. She then looked in that direction, a nervous feeling filling her stomach. Sure, she was opening up a little bit, but she still feared everyone. One of the voices sounded familiar, one of them sounded kind of worried, whereas the other male's voice sounded threatening.

"NARIKO IS NEARBY!"

Her eyes widened in disbelief, and she shook somewhat. The voice she recognized had been Zaine's... why hadn't she realized that sooner? She looked at the male that had fallen on the ground, and she became the happiest she had probably ever been in her life. She ran as fast as she could, putting the little metal heart in one of the pockets of her pants.

"ZAINE! OH MY GOSH, ZAINE!" she ran faster until she finally fell to the ground next to him, completely ignoring the other two. She smiled widely, looking at the one she loved.

"I can't believe I found you..." she said softly. "I thought the worst... and here you are! Oh my gosh, Zaine... I'm so happy to see you again...."

Zaine struggled to get up, helping Nariko up with him. "Finally....We're together again..." He said, choking up. He reached into his pocket and pulled out the bobble, handing it to Nariko. It was a heart shape, strangely crafted so the clear sapphire blue had seven red rubies inside it, and a single emerald in the very center. It had taken him all the months he was without Nariko to make, intending to give it to her when he found her, which he did now. He placed it in her hands, then put his arms around her, hugging her tight.

Nariko continued smiling, that depressed look no longer in her eyes. She was just so glad they were, just as he had said, together again. She allowed him to help her up, and her eyes filled with tears somewhat when he gave her the new heart. He was so kind, and this was the second gift he had given her... she felt a little bad that she hadn't gotten him anything yet, but she didn't know what she could get. It didn't matter, though, right now, and the thought didn't last long; she was just so happy to be with him! "Thank you," she said softly, and wrapped her arms tightly around him as well. She had kind of forgotten about the other people there, but she wouldn't be embarrassed if they saw; she had gone so long without seeing Zaine that he was all she cared about at the moment.

"I love you, Zaine," she told him quietly.

"I love you too, Nariko.." He said back. He hugged her tighter than before, content in the fact they could be together once more. He frowned, knowing what he had to do next. "Nariko..I've...I've changed...I....I remember...Everything...from my past....I...I'm a killer....A monster....A demon....I...I dont think we can have the same relationship as before...I dont want to hurt you...." He trailed off, breaking into sobs.
