Richard Trickson smiled to himself as he walked down the hallways, heading to the music room. He had ordered a new set of strings for Cherry Apple, and the post office delievered them to the music room. Why they did this instead of simply delivering them to Richard Tricksons PO box he would never know.

The rocker pushed the doors open to see someone already standing inside, a kid from the looks of it. Richard Trickson froze, before slipping into his normal wide grin and waving.

"Hello there!"

Waking up in the past was, for the most part, a bizarre experience.

Well, kind of--when SK woke up they'd actually woken up with their head mostly buried in dirt but. You know. The point was there.

It had taken them a good five to ten minutes to dig themselves out of the hole, and then another ten minutes to wash the soil and dirt and grass clumps off, and then another hour and a half for them to sleep off all the hard work they'd just done, so really there wasn't a lot of stuff that they were doing differently in the past than they would be doing in the future.

Then they'd woken up and headed towards the biggest structure.

And the next thing they knew they were tapping out a rad beat on the drums.

They couldn't tell you how they got there.

The beat was a surprisingly clean one from someone so young. They had a few years of experience, clearly.

But they were so into their drumming that they didn't notice Richard Trickson's greeting.

Richard Trickson smiled when the beats filled his ears. How had he not heard them before? Perhaps he was just lost in thought. He understood why SK didn't answer him, after all he had gone into that state many times before.

Getting lost in the music was a lovely thing.

Richard Trickson unslung Cherry Apple from his back, and ran his fingers down the strings. They could last for one last jam...

The rocker closed his eyes, and joined SK in jamming out.

SK was too into the beat and the music that they were hearing, the improvised song, that even though some part of them understood that someone had come in and joined him in his jam session, he never really quite grasped the fact that he wasn't jamming out alone. Yet somehow their sound was still musical and melodic in all the best ways.

It was with a fast drumroll and finishing hit that they came out of their musical trance and noticed that they weren't alone.

SK smiled at Richard, lazy and toothy. "Heyo," he said. "I'm SK."

Richard Trickson smiled as he fell into the song with SK. This kid sure knew how to play, he was really good! Richard Trickson hadn't gotten to jam with anyone like this in...a really long time. Longer than he could remember.

Richard Trickson made ample use of his power to imitate a whammy bar at the end of the song. He grinned back at SK, happy and wide.

"SK! A wonderful name. Thank you for allowing Richard Trickson to play with you. You are very talented for one your age." He praised, walking over to extend a hand to shake.

SK took his hand and gave it a strong shake.

"No problem. It's not too often I actually get to play with other people. My sister's more focused on world domination and my brother...." they thought for a moment. What exactly was Royce focused on doing? Maybe being an heir? Did that... was that what Royce did or was he more focused on doing the magic thing. Maybe both. Maybe neither. Who knew really. "He likes magic."

The half-drow child made themselves comfortable on the seat.

"I've been drumming for...." a pause as they counted on their fingers. How old were they now? They tended to forget. "three? two? Some amount of years around there.

"You're pretty good on that guitar too."

Richard Trickson grinned widely. "Your siblings sound like they'd be both a hoot at a party, as well as simultaneous buzzkills. But family, eh?" The rocker chuckled. Richard Trickson patted his guitar, The red instrument gleaming in the florescent lights of the music room. "Heh, Thanks. Richard Trickson has been playing on Cherry Apple here for years now. Richard Trickson remembers when he first bought her...." The rocker looked down as his guitar, a soft smile spreading across his face.

Then he remembered why he was here in the first place.

"Oh, have you seen a small package here? Richard Trickson's strings had gotten delivered to the wrong spot."

SK nodded vigorously. "Yeah. They have no chill. My dad said that I got all the chill."

To be honest, they didn't really know what that was supposed to mean, but they figured that it meant that they were cool and their other siblings weren't. In the future that tended to mean that if they went anywhere, if SK wasn't stapled to one of their parents' sides then it was totally possible that they would accidentally get left somewhere.

It was really only scary the first time it happened. After the third time it kinda stopped being special.

"Oh, a small package?"

They hopped down and moved the foot pedal. Underneath was the small, only-slightly-smushed package.

"Sorry, the pedal was too low."

Richard Trickson took his package from SK with a wide grin on his face. "You do seem to have a lot of chill." He looked over the smushed box, still smiling. "It is okay, do not worry!" He opened it quickly to reveal it was just a small set of Guitar strings. Smushing had no effect!

"Richard Trickson could help you raise the pedal, it's a bit tricky to adjust but it is possible."

SK looked visibly excited at the prospect of being able to use drums made for an adult easier. Back home, the drums they had were children's drums because it was kind of hard for them to reach everything, given that they were still fairly young.

"Yes!" They said louder than they meant to, bouncing in place. "Please teach me how to do that!"
