Forensic science. How fitting, considering he was literally speaking with the dead. Not that it was some great advantage, as precious few dead people actually knew much about how they'd died. Dying was a trauma, and freshly awoken ghosts remembered much of it. When he'd first awoken he'd barely remembered anything. He'd acted on instincts and nothing more, and he'd only become more coherent - more understanding after months and years of 'living'.

He nodded once when the boy confirmed that he'd known. As he'd suspected - and thus barely notable.

He hadn't expected the connection. A dead sister that only he could see would explain the feeling he'd had, although it was far from what he'd guessed. He'd suspected he was a necromancer, if anything, although he didn't seem the type.

"I didn't realize. I can't see her. Or... really most ghosts." Despite being a ghost himself, Makara was firmly on the 'human' plane. If a human couldn't see it, he generally couldn't see it. At best, he got vague foggy images, and even then that was only if a ghost was particularly present.

"My name is Makara Som." Standing in the doorway, he bowed, introducing himself to try and make it clear enough what his first name was. "I'm a teacher at the school." Although he rarely taught, and spent more of his time as a dorm parent.

The man didn't seem too surprised that he knew that he was dead, which in a way was a good for Pario, so he wouldn't have to explain himself. Smiling lightly, he let the rest of his words sync in. It seems that even he, couldn't see Acellyn, but he hadn't expected anything else, it wasn't like she was a 'free' spirit by any means. "I guess that makes sense. Only I have been able to see her so far." Pario was a bit confused by the fact that he couldn't see really any ghosts at all, as Pario was the opposite. "Maybe I took your powers then, considering I can spot ghosts, as well as ghosts hanging onto humans." He said faintly, not wanting to take over the conversation.

He was a teacher? He wasn't even aware that ghosts were allowed as teachers, but then again maybe that because Pario was still half in the mindset of his old life and it's rules. That of course wouldn't be allowed anywhere other than Starlight. He definitely hadn't seen him around, and judging by his appearance at night, he most likely worked during the day, when he looked more human like. "I like that name." He felt a bit out of place having a teacher bow to him. Standing up, he bowed to the man, introducing himself. "I'm Pario Yuen Runforton. My sister is Acellyn." He stood up straight, giving the man a light smile as he saw Acellyn swirl around the man lightly, ending by standing up beside the man, making silly faces. Giggling softly, he motioned her to come back, which she did after a loud grunt and a whispered 'You're no fun at all', before standing beside Pario instead. "Sorry she was uh, making faces beside you."

The mechanics of ghosts were tricky, to say the least. Some humans could see them. Some couldn't. Even other ghosts were often unable to see their fellow spirits. "Some people can, and some can't... but that doesn't seem to change much when you die." He hadn't been able to see spirits before he had died, and he couldn't see them after. Maybe some people could suddenly become more aware, but he certainly hadn't.

The edges of his mouth twitched up, almost into a smile at the revelation that another ghost was making fun of him. "It must be lonely for her, only being able to be seen by one person." He remembered little of his early years as a ghost, although he was fairly sure humans had still been able to see him even back then. At least at night - during the day he'd simply stopped existing, or something close enough to that. "Are you new to the school?" So many people were. The school had far more imports than it had locals.

Nodding to the man's theory, he was most likely right. Pario couldn't remember how long ago he had gotten his powers, but he knew that with them, being able to see and talk to ghosts seemed almost normal and natural. He had never really thought of his powers as a 'freak of nature', but rather a curse. He was glad that no everyone had to deal with their dead siblings for the rest of their lives. It was almost like having to take care of a voice inside of your head, that you could see.

"I guess so, but it works out as most people get scared once they find out, so I'm alone with her anyways." He said as he stood there awkwardly. It was true that he was pretty much a loner, but he didn't that. It wasn't that he would rather Acellyn's company at all times, but he just hadn't found the right person to be his friend.

"Not really, newer than some people, but not I've been here for a while." He couldn't say exactly how many days, months or years he had been here, but he knew that he wasn't a 'island newbie' anymore. "What about you?" Pario asked patiently.

He had been on the island for a long time. Years. A decade, maybe. In the early days it had been harder to keep track of the days, because he'd been less there when the sun was up. "I've been working for the school for five years." He finally said, deciding that summed up his time on the island well enough. Before that only half counted.

"You should find other students who deal with the dead." A necromancer's apprentice would hardly find the idea of being haunted by a specific ghost to be alarming. "There are some around the school." They tended to be a bit harder to find than some other kinds of powers, in large part because it was still a social faux pas to deal with the dead. "There are more dead students then you think." Students who were dead, or ghosts, or something like that were certainly far from rare, even if they weren't common.

Nodding as the man simply said five years, it was a lot more accurate then what Pario had said. He felt as if it was semi-important to know how long he had been here, but then again he didn't want to pause their conversation to think. It did seem like a long time to work on an island of misfits with powers, but considering that he had earlier said that he was was more a loner type. For Pario, it seemed that the days went by slower for him when he wasn't with someone else though.

"Oh?" He had heard that there were others similar to him, that he would most likely be able to make friends with, but then again he wasn't the type of man to randomly go ask people if they would be okay with having a friend that has a dead sister that follows him everywhere. It wasn't really a conversation starter. "Maybe I will try to reach out more then. I'm okay with just meeting people by accident though." He smiles lightly, remembering all of the people that he had met. There hadn't been many, but enough that he was able to say that he had met people.

Technically, no amount of time would be a 'long time' for Makara. He was dead. He would never age, and there was no risk of him dying again. Unless he chose to pass on, he was essentially there for good. And he did want to pass on, but he was really in no rush. Not when it was so unclear what would happen when he did.

"I was thinking..." He trailed off, obviously thinking about it hard. He had given it plenty of consideration, but there was a very clear and obvious line between thinking about something himself and actually bringing it up with someone else. "I was thinking of starting a club. For other students who are... dead. Or who interact with the dead." Of all the types of students who needed a support group of sorts, the dead ones were probably the most in need in his mind. Not being accepted was taken to the utmost degree when you literally were not among the living. Most were either cut off from or shunned by their families, and even those that weren't actually dead often carried a stigma.

Seeing Acellyn move around the room so freely, spiraling around the man, going over to his homework, then back to him. Looking down to his left, he saw a page of his homework, one that he was supposed to have handed in a few days ago. As he sighed, Pario picked up the paper, ripping it into bites of paper as the man stayed silent. Scattering the fragments on his bed, he looked around to see the man talk. "Really?" Pario said with enthusiasm. "I would so join that. Could I perhaps be... Your second in command, I mean if more than just us are in it?" He asked, already way too excited. "I think that's a great idea. We could meet people kind of like us." They were so different, but they shared something rather big in common.

Makara was quiet, but always attentive. His eyes followed Pario as he stepped over to the paper, tearing it up into little bits. He'd have liked to have watched his ghostly friend, but Makara simply couldn't see her, rendering his attentions moot.

"Yes, you could always be the student leader, if you'd like. I might do better as an... advisor of sort." The idea of planning and organizing meetings seemed daunting. No, he'd no doubt do better just being the adult presence in the room. "Perhaps meetings in the day, I look..." He trailed off with the realization that Pario already knew what he looked like during the day. He didn't need to explain it to him - only someone who was blind wouldn't be able to tell the difference between what he was like at night and what he was like during the day.

"I can put in the paperwork tomorrow, if you'd like." It had been sitting on his desk, complete but unsubmitted. All he would have to do is add Pario's name and submit it. He could have even submitted it before, but he'd never had, plagued by doubt about how useful students might actually find it.

But if there was at least one, that was enough.

"A student leader?" The idea of such a thing excited Pario, knowing that he would be a part of something that he could really relate to. "That sounds good to me."He adds on a few seconds later, even though he wasn't sure of the details of the position. That was something that he could ask the man later. "Yes, definitely during the day. I mean we could always ease the others into what you look like at night." He nodded. I mean I think you look super cool right now, all mysterious." Hearing Acellyn grunt in his head, he sighed. 'I mean it's not like I have a choice, but at least try to make it fun so I don't have to talk in your hear for every meeting.' She says, floating behind the man. "Yeah, I would really like that. Thank you." Pario says with a bright smile.
