Grant grinned taking another pastry and popping it into his mouth as the shorter woman spoke. He loved watching people react to them finding out he had been at the school since it was founded. He gave a hearty laugh, clapping his palm against the table.

He wiped a tear of laughter away from his green eye as his laughs died down. He took another bite of the cream puff before he started to speak again.

"Aye lass, Look can be decievin'." He gave her a wink, before continuing. "I be only 28. Ye seem ta' be rather young, twenny'two?" He guessed, scratching his chin.

"Most certainly," she said, agreeing quietly. She could think of children not much taller than herself who claimed to be older than the universe itself. You could never be sure with these things. But Grant's words meant that he was there from the beginning, as old as SA and older, and had been teaching here when she was a little girl first learning and understanding her magical gifts.

"I be only 28. Ye seem ta' be rather young, twenny'two?"

She giggled, her voice sounding jolly and like the soft tinkering of bells. Twenty two! That was unprecedented. A teacher at twenty two. How preposterous.

Of course, she wouldn't look a complement in the mouth.

"You're a smart man, Grant," she said with a somewhat coy smile.

Grant smiled as Shellie laughed, and felt his heart beat a tad faster. That in itself wasn't surprising, there had been one or two of his fellow teaching staff over the years that Grant had taken a fancy to, but they never ended up going anywhere. This was different though, in a way Grant couldn't explain. Her laugh was beautiful, in a way that Grant was familiar with.

He subconsciously ran a finger over one of the rings on his fingers, before matching her smile.

"Aye, ye' don' get ta be a captain like me without a'leas' some smarts." Grant winked, though he could have just been blinking. He picked up another puff, and took a bite.

"An' ye be very talented, lass. We didn' get anythin like this on th' seas."

Shellie reached out and bit into another cream puff, smiling as the sweet filling covered her tongue. These weren't any of her best work--she saved her best work for special occasions--but they were definitely tasty in a way that she hadn't tasted in a while, and she almost wished she had made more.

He blinked--or did he wink? The eye patch made it really hard to tell--and Shellie smiled. The man in captain garb that sat across from her seemed all the world like a huge sweetie.

"Well, of course not!" she sounded a little indignant. "You didn't have someone like me on the ship! ....though, i guess even then, sugar and sea don't exactly mix well..."

She went quiet, but her interest was already perked. She'd always been fascinated with the sea--as she needed to be, considering this island was her permanent residence.

Grant smiled widely as she spoke. This little lady had some fight in her! That was always more attractive to Grant.

"Hey now lass, don' be gettin' all quiet on me. Jess' because Shuga' an' the sea don' mix well, doesn't mean they don' mix."

The captain took the half cream puff he was holding, flicking it up into the air and catching it in his mouth. Rose flapped her wings and swooped down, flying around the table before resting on the butt of Grant's blunderbuss.

"Skrawk! Sugar and Sea!"

Grant chuckled, pulling a piece of cracker from his coat, flicking it over to Rose. The Macaw caught the cracker in her beak, squawking and chowing down.

"Now, why don'cha tell me abou'cha self?" Grant grinned taking a very old looking container from his pocket and taking a swig.

"I suppose that's true. Fleeting delights are still delights, even if they only last an instant."

The witch watched as the pirate ate another cream puff with flare, and fed his bird a cracker. He was certainly an interesting one. Not too many pirates around this school. Then again, not too many people who could boast a teaching record as long as the academy has been around either. It's all about perspective, she guessed.

"Myself?" She asked, placing a hand on her chest. "Well, aside from only working here for a few years, I also own a Bakery downtown called the magic spoon! It's quite lovely, if I do say so myself~"

Grant nodded, agreeing fully. A lot of pirates felt the same way. The rush of opening a chest of plunder... The old pirate chuckled, and turned his attention back to Shellie.

"Magic Spoon? I think i've 'eard of it. Good Press, as I recall." He commented, pulling his flask out and taking a swig.

"I'll 'ave to stop by sometime. Especially if someone as a beaut' as ye runs it." He winked, only speaking the truth. He was in a particularly flirty mood, at the very least. A woman as good-looking as this, who could make sweets this fantastic?

Perfect woman, right here.

Shellie smiled and squirmed ever so slightly in her seat, pleased with herself. It wasn't everyday that an establishment like hers--still fairly new and run by someone fairly young--got such good press from everyone else. It helped that the Nices that ran Everything Nice bumped up her sales. She was positively aglow with self-satisfaction.

"That's right. The Magic Spoon, you can't miss it, darling. It's the prettiest pinkest little shop you ever did see, with the best magical view in town!"

When he complimented her and winked (she was sure it was a wink this time from context clues) she smiled. "Come for the beauty, stay for the sweets, I hope."

"More like Vice Versa, Lass." Grant chuckled. He would definitely have to stop by someday soon. Especially if this lovely little thing owned it. He let out a loud laugh, Rose squawking and flapping her wings, taking off to sail around the room, landing on the fridge.

"Sounds like a lovely place, i'll 'ave to drop by." He grinned, before he remembered something. A few students had been chatting about the shop in the hall a few days ago.

"I do 'ave te ask." He continued in a curious tone. "I've 'eard of rumors, a Kiss tax?" He leaned in curiously, raising an eyebrow. It was clear he wanted to confirm the rumor.

"It's quite lovely, if I do say so myself."

Shellie smiled at the mention of the mysterious kiss tax, leaning on the table with her elbows supporting most of her upper body weight. "Come now darling, you know I can't exactly start giving away my secrets of the trade. You know what they say about loose lips."

The witch looked up to check the time. Her next class would be starting in a little less than 20 minutes, and she liked to be there a little early to do a little prep work for her students.

She gave Grant a coy smile and backed off from the table, packing up her lunch, but leaving the remaining creampuffs with the pirate. "Help yourself, darling. I do hope we'll get to speak again."
