Out of boredom

"You know, I know a few things about luck and probabilities... this doesn't seem like either of those things," Jaya whispered in Riina's ear. While they walked up the stairs, she stayed a step ahead at all times, so that they were more or less eye level. "It's something that's either more malicious or more stupid."

When they made it up, Jaya drank in the air, remembering how she first met someone here. That was a very fun afternoon. It started out just a little weird, with some unscripted cuddling, and ended on a very different note.

She smirked and stepped over to the edge of the railings. "I sleep here a lot," she said, pointing down to a tiny ledge a little way down below. The space in it was barely enough for one person, but with some creativity it could fit two comfortably even if they weren't sitting still, as she'd found out a few weeks back. "'Sleep'. Yes. It's nice to 'sleep' here."

Being made to lead again was somewhat disappointing. It was fine with her, but she wasn't going to take over just yet. "You know, this is your chance... you have two gorgeous women that you can show the sights and... I'm perfectly okay if you want me to lead the tour but are you sure you want to throw in the towel?"

Sky

He looked over at the ledge that Jaya pointed out. Interesting. How two people can fit there is slightly puzzling to Sky, but props to those who did bread and butter without falling off.

"-but are you sure you want to throw in the towel?"
"Actually, scratch that. Come to think of it, I do remember an interesting place. It's the lake, where I go to relax after my plates. A couple incidents happened there already, and I swear to this day that I still see fluff. Tell you what, I can retell the mega-sheep incident if you want."

Sky stood up from his seating position and began to stretch. He then shuffled over to the railings and pointed over at the lush greenery not too far from the campus grounds. The sun was glowing brightly with a yellowish hue, giving the lake a rich, pastel image, but it won't be like that for long.
"We should get there before it gets any darker. It's best visited at around this time. The place is also good for wildlife photography, if you have a camera handy."

He went over to Cohee and looked her in the eye.
"Oh, and Riina, I'd like you to forget the events earlier, thinking about it now makes me cringe, a bit. I also apologize. Sometimes I even wonder if my ancestors are looking at me right now and exclaiming: Naknang."
After saying the last line with a little laugh, Sky looked around for anything that might cause a blunder. After seeing nothing, he just shrugged it off and proceeded to lead the ladies towards the lake.

Riina

When they got to the rooftop, Riina was immediately dazzled by the setting sun. It was already in the afternoon when they got there. She could've never gotten this view from her condominium since sadly, it faced the opposite side of the orange ball of gas above them. The only view she eagerly waits to set her sights upon was the occasional velvet glow of the afternoon sun. It shrouds the city in its nostalgic hue joined by the gradient twilight sky.

She listened to Sky as he points to the lake on the horizon.

Oh, and Riina, I'd like you to forget the events earlier-

She was surprised that these words came out of Sky's mouth. "Oh, don't worry about it. I mean like, really. Hope you didn't forget about the blazer though, we can go after we reach the lake. It's getting quite dark." She took one last look at the view and followed closer to Jaya.

After a while, she suddenly felt heavy. Her movements slowed as she held on to Jaya's shirt, trying to keep her pace up.

"Dammit, not now." She muttered to herself.

As time passed by, her skin grew paler and her breathing, heavier. She was also sweating quite a lot. The locks on her body emit a faint light, and she tries her best to hide it.

Though Jaya was very much an outdoor person, she had different preferences for locations. Trees weren't much her thing, having grown up in the wrong part of post-wall Germany where trees weren't a thing. She preferred being out in the sun, and even if being in the shade of a forest was fine every now and then, there was another place that she held closer to her heart.

"Lake, huh? My spot's near the beach. That's farther and... that's for very, very different things. Nice cave-like place without a ceiling so you have light and still see who or what you're doing even at night, tiny mini-lake inside, the works. If you find me there doing something or someone though, say hi or back off until I'm done. Your call. Just don't wait around if you see me there with a cute blonde. She and I take forever."

Now that they were outside of the dormitory - technically, even if they were still within the grounds - Jaya relaxed a bit and pulled out a carton of cigarettes from her back pocket. There weren't any left save for one that she put between her lips and lit with a tiny lighter from her breast pocket. "Hope you guys are fine with this poison. Don't start smoking, kids - if you do, it's not stopping."

After a while she felt a little weight on her arm that wasn't quite there a few moments ago. The moment suddenly became much, much more serious, though Jaya wasn't going to let that show. Since Riina seemed intent on not showing her problem, Jaya obliged by whispering discreetly into her ears. "If you need a place to lie down, Iris's place is nearby on this floor, and I have a key... there's also lemon juice."

Sky listened to Jaya's escapades on the beach as they were walking outside the premises of the dormitories. He likes the aesthetic of bodies of water, and beaches were among his favorite. Although he prefers to painting them rather than actually visiting one, this is a mighty fine chance to expand his wandering radius.
"The beach huh, sounds interesting. Heard of it, haven't been there though. The only beach I've been to consists of mostly rock, lined with cement, urbanized areas, and stray rental camels. Still pretty for pictures though. I've still yet to experience a regular type beach."
As they were walking towards the lake, Sky began retelling the tale of his first visit to the lake, also choosing to tell the accounts of his two other companions at that time.
"You see guys, according to Loch, Mor, and yours truly..."

After the not so brief story-telling, noticed that things were going a little quieter than usual. In that moment, the usually calm atmosphere turned to unease as he felt ominous energy spikes coming from somewhere.
"Guys, I-I felt something." he said as he partially pulled out his holster and gun from his bag, eyes widening, heart rate speeding up. This is something he rarely felt, and it usually means bad business.
"Something, or someone just, kind of emanated their energy, you guys better be on the lookou-"
Sky was cut mid-sentence when he noticed something off about Riina.

"Huh, Riina, are you having a slight fever?"
He went up to Riina and after a slight resistance from her, placed the back of his hand on her neck to check her temperature. He noticed that she seemed to be concealing something, and that something appeared to emit a faint glow.

"Pardon my curiosity, but what are those?"

Riina

Nothing was getting through to Riina. She could not comprehend anything that they said. Her vision was also getting blurry and her whole body felt like it was being crushed by gravity. All this was not supposed to happen anymore, but it seems that trouble was brewing up inside her these past years. These attacks happened often before she came to the islands, but back then it was weaker, as she could have easily brushed it off.

Suddenly, she feels a hand rest against her neck and recognizes Sky.

" mumble* mumble* "

Sky spoke to her but she could not understand anything. Reaching his hand, she slowly takes it off from her neck and backs away from the two.

"I... help.. I.. can't,"
"Please.. leave... me.." After finishing her sentence, her mind suddenly went blank, and she falls to the ground like a lifeless body.

Her locks were still glowing, and in fact, they were getting brighter by the minute. She was worried that something terrible might happen to them, or her, if she passes out, and that's why she urged them to leave her.

Her breathing is heavier than ever, and she is soaked in her own sweat. Riina's unconscious body is rapidly increasing in temperature, in fact, it is almost as hot as a cup of freshly brewed coffee.

"Aw, fuck this shit! Nobody is dying here, not in front of me, not in this dorm, and definitely not now!" Jaya exclaimed, rolling up her sleeves and picking up Riina. Despite her appearance, she had always been strong for her size - usually strength that was used in other, noisier ways - and she was able to pick up the taller girl without too much difficulty. A little stagger, but not too much. "Hey dickless! Get everyone the fuck out of the way or we're all going to get fucked up!"

She dashed off as fast as she could down the hall without risking tripping too much, all the while beginning to glow herself, a very faint but warm shade of white. This was a very large amount of luck she was generating, which would be very bad for her for a while, but... at times, there just wasn't any way to do anything other than going all-in. "Fuck. You better fucking make it through this because otherwise my next week is going to be absolutely terrible for no goddamn reason."

Jaya stopped at a certain nondescript door and propped Riina against the wall for a bit, fumbling around in her pockets and producing a hairpin. She expertly picked the lock, opened the door and carried Riina in.

"Told you not to pick the lock again -"

"Sorry Lemon but it's an emergency -"

she said as she dropped Riina on a couch and a fully-dressed Iris appeared, looking as if she were in a hurry, only paying a small amount of attention to the guest. Iris leaned in to plant a very quick kiss on Jaya's lips before she headed straight for the door, not even noticing Sky there. "Look, use whatever's in here if you need it, and if you need me, you have my number. Just - just call me if you think my, uh, thing's going to be useful, okay?"

"Got it, got it," Jaya said, throwing herself onto the cold floor and heaving a bit. The impact of her body on the tiles knocked a mug way in the kitchen off its perch and onto the floor, where it shattered. "Shit. It's happening."

"You used your power, didn't you?"

"Yeah. Probably won't be coming over this week."

Iris sighed and left, leaving Jaya, Sky, and Riina in her dorm room. Now there was just the question of what exactly was going to happen next.

"Hey, dickless, there's food and drinks in the kitchen... get stuff for all of us - if I move right now everyone's going to end up in the hospital."

Sky

Sky's eyes widened as he saw Riina drop on the ground and began glowing visibly.

"Aw, fuck this shit! Nobody is dying here, not in front of me, not in this dorm, and definitely not now!"

"Holy shite. We need to get her somewhere else immediately."

"Hey dickless! Get everyone the fuck out of the way or we're all going to get fucked up!"

"Easier done than said!"
Sky immediately knew what Jaya intended him to do. Without wasting a second, he hovered after Jaya and used his telekinesis to push anyone unfortunate enough who happened to be standing in her path, sweeping his hands back and forth, taking care not to push them upwards.
"Emergency coming through!" he nonchalantly said out to every unsuspecting passersby.

"Woooaaaaahh!"
"JESUS CHRIST WHY THE FUCK?"
"WHAT THE HELL MAN? YOU SPILLED MY DRINK. YOU, STOP THER-"
"THIS IS NOT STAR WAAAAAAAAARS."

After a series of pushing people out of the way for convenience, they finally reached their destination. After Jaya hurriedly, but adeptly picked the lock, he saw her drop Riina down on the couch and had a small talk with a hasty looking Iris.

The blazer will have to come later.

Paying no mind to them, Sky immediately adjusted Riina's position in accordance to the emergency protocols which was taught to him during his time in the company. He had some difficulty at first, for her body was hot to the touch, and seemed like she would explode at any moment. Riina's energy emissions are also making him a bit nauseated. He looked at her and was saddened and speechless by her pitiful state. He held unto her hand and muttered. "....why did this happen? Real out of nowhere kind but, damn."

After hearing a loud thud on the floor and the sound of a mug crashing, he heard Jaya ordering him to get items in the kitchen.
"On it." he replied.
He snooped around in haste, taking everything deemed necessary, while pushing away the broken mug pieces. He then handed most of the requested stuff over to Jaya.
"Here, most of these should be vital."
Sky picked up a towel, moistened it with some water from a bottle and began cleaning off sweat and dirt from Riina's body, followed by a spare cloth for drying. After leaving Jaya with the rest, he began making impromptu meals based from his field rations while waiting for his next order.

Riina

There, she is laid down inside Iris' room. Nothing ever moves besides a small lift of her chest from breathing. Sky made a meal for Jaya, and for Riina, if she ever wakes up. Both of them are watching over the girl with the glowing locks while showing true concern.

Inside the mind of Riina, she wanders into a vast and endless land. Everything is pitch black, it's as if the world was turned into nothingness. There she shouts again and again for help, but nothing reaches her voice, it only echoes into the darkness the envelopes her. Suddenly, there's a faint glimpse of light, and slowly, it builds into a figure which is familiar to her.

"It's y-you," her eyes widen. "what are you planning to do?"

He didn't respond and only looked at her intently while levitating off the ground. It didn't take too long for him to approach Riina while seemingly plotting something. Both of them never took their sights away from each other. It's as if the both of them were hypnotized into staring deep into their souls.

He phases inside Riina's body, and soon after she was unable move from the power he is emitting. She feels unimaginable pain similar to their first ever encounter when she was just a child. She screams in horror as her whole body slowly burns and transforms into an obsidian-like material. As the black material completely consumes her, cracks form inside her, and a liquid resembling magma pours out from every gap.

Outside the pitch black world, a twitch from Riina's fingers were observed. Slowly, her hands clench, and slowly reverts to its former state.

She opens her eyes, where it shines a beautiful orange-gold color, resembling that of an evening sun in a calm summer beach.

"Uh, it is me and I'm planning to just lie down here for a while because the farthest I can get right now is probably the couch, and I don't know if I should be snuggling with you now. I could use the warmth though. This tile's cold. Okay, you know what, scoot over, I'm going to freeze down here."

Jaya rolled over, knowing that standing up would be riskier. She rolled until she was at the foot of the couch, and then slowly clambered up to lie beside her and squeeze into the space. Somehow, bad stuff wasn't happening yet.

"You're gonna make it somehow," Jaya said reassuringly. "I gave up like two weeks worth of good stuff for this. You're definitely going to make it. Somehow. Hell, I don't even know what the fuck you're going to be making it through but... goddammit, I need Iris for this sorta uplifting stuff."

Jaya never was one to do the comforting and that sort of stuff. She was that sort of person who, instead of consoling you when you messed up, would instead push you through the door and force you to fix things. A little bewildered, she turned to Sky and mouthed, "Fuck am I supposed to be doing now?"

Since there wasn't any real indication of what to do, she simply opted to put her arms around Riina, encircling her in a warm and hopefully calming hug. Elsewhere, a few miles away, lightning struck while the sun was shining, the peal of thunder audible clearly. Its shocking sound made her spasm a little, the hug tightening for a brief moment.

"Hmm. I may have given you too much."
