"I KILLED EVERYONE, SHAY!" He yelled, finally beginning to let himself cry. "Everyone... Including... You..." He curled up more. "I... never had a dream like that... It was never people I knew.... Never people I loved... I... I don't know what it means... Is it... my own fears? Are all my dreams gonna be nightmares now? Or... maybe he's... trying to break me. Thats what it took for him to come out..."
Shay frowned, sympathy coursing through her. "Why though? I mean, I just -- why does he want to hurt people? There's no reason for it. I thought Kitsune were supposed to be guardians of the people, at the worst playful tricksters teaching people valuable lessons, so why is he such a --" She cut off with a sigh. "Look, Kenta, you have to pick yourself up. Stop crying. Bury all of it. You can't let him see the cracks or the weakness. If he's trying to break you, and you know he is, then hold it together. Ignore him."
"..." He slowly brought his head back up to look at her, his eyes blank with fear. "How do I... ignore this?" He asked, sounding desperate. "I..." He shook his head. "I keep breaking... I'm... trying but... I'm not a strong person... I'm really not... I just keep crying. Afraid to sleep, like a child scared of the damned Boogie Man...."
"Has he ever spoken to you?" Shay asked. Her fear was rapidly turning to anger, hard and ready to fight. She wondered if this was what being strong was about. Was it just hatred? Cold, fiery in the pit of one's stomach that had them fighting? Shay had been afraid before, but any point that she was cornered, she was ready to kill.
"No... He doesn't even talk in the dreams. He just kills... its... the same every time. Quiet, stoic. He doesn't even hesitate, no matter who it is... Like theres nothing there. Just a soulless killer..."
"Do you think maybe suppressing everything is making it that way, Kenta? Maybe you should try to...I don't know, tap into that side of yourself. Sometimes denying things only makes them worse."
"Nothing is plain evil. Nothing. The point is, you can't hide from a part of yourself. If he's in your head, he's there to stay. Fighting it will only make it worse. And if you know nothing about that side, how will you figure out how to get rid of it?"
Kenta let out a sigh, shook his head and tried to smile. "You... You're right...This isn't gonna go away... But... How do I talk to him? I blacked out last time he showed up..."
"Maybe you can try it in your dreams? Or maybe you should try meditation. Or again, I could try it for you. Maybe you'll find something by searching through books?"
