Kenta was instantly thrilled about his fur for a different reason. He was pretty sure she couldn't see him blushing through it. All this affection was odd coming from her, though... he wasn't opposed to it. His tails swayed happily.
To Shay, it was easy to see him as just an unassuming, unintimidating little fox rather than Kenta, the kind boy who seemed to enjoy her company. She laid on her back, feet on the ground and knees in the air. She set the Kitsune on her stomach and used her arms as a makeshift pillow.
Kenta let out yet another yawn. In this position, it was easy for him to curl up on her, his head on his tails, and drift off to much needed sleep. Somehow, he felt safer sleeping with her around as opposed to how he felt alone last night.
Shay reached up to gently pet him as he lay curled up. It made her feel safer too. More comfortable. Shay didn't dare sleep, though. She knew she'd still see her death and she didn't feel like going through the nightmares when she was feeling so warm at the moment.
He had only drifted off for about 20 minutes before he suddenly jolted awake, yelping about something. His eyes were wide with fear, but once he realized where he was, he collapsed onto her, panting heavily for a bit before calming down again.
Shay jumped, sat up, and clutched the poor little thing against her chest in a tight hug. She muttered sweet nothings and shushed him gently as if he were actually a kit.
When he finally calmed down, he looked up at her, teary eyed, and leaned up to lick her cheek. Part of him wanted to change back and tell her what he saw, but he felt she knew more or less what happened anyway, and he wouldn't be able to be this close to her in his other form. Instead, he simply tried to calm down in her arms.
She smiled down at him, scratching behind his ear and giggling as he licked her cheek. "It's okay Kenta. You're safe. It was just a dream."
Kenta smiled and relaxed, laying his head against her chest, though she may feel tears still wet her clothes a little. He couldn't be happier being this close to her after what he had seen in his dreams. But if she was ok... He could feel comfortable knowing none of it was real.
Shay wondered what his nightmares had been about this time. Was everyone dying just random faces? People he'd never met or didn't remember? She wasn't willing to ask. Finally, she set him on the ground so he could change back.
