He seemed a bit disappointed when she put him down, but slowly backed away until he had enough room to change back. In the same puff of smoke, he returned, and she would just barely catch him wiping his eyes as the smoke cleared. "H-hey Shay-shay." He said with a smile, trying too hard to sound like nothing happened.
"Was it a bad one?" she asked with a wide-eyed stare. Secretly, she missed having the cute little fox to cuddle, but she didn't want to say that out loud. With his being human again, it would have sounded creepy.
"mm..." He nodded, his smile quickly falling. "It... Was just really clear. It felt like it lasted forever..." He looked down and off to the side. There was something he wasn't saying.
"Are you lying?" Shay asked, noticing how he wouldn't look at her. Now she was curious. What wasn't he telling her? "You're not telling me something."
"..." He shook his head. "It doesn't matter... It was just another dream..."
"Tell me," Shay said fiercely. Why didn't he want her to know?
Kenta looked up at her, silent for a moment. Eventually he sighed. "It..." He broke eye contact again, biting his thumb and quickly drawing blood. "It wasn't.... The same people this time..."
"What do you mean? Who was it then? Did you know them? Did you remember something new?"
He shook his head. "No... No memories... I knew them... I... I killed... Everyone. I killed teachers. Students... I fought Laetus but he... couldn't bring himself to... " He let go of his bleeding thumb and held his head. His eyes were wide, as if he could still see it. "And then... I..."
He just wanted to stop thinking about it. Just wanted the whole idea to go away. On some level though, he knew... It... He saw the modern world. Was he... He can't sleep anymore. This will happen again. This is the dream, and... Its gonna happen every night, isn't it?!
