Shay nodded. Why did he sound so awkward about it? Was he worried about her? "I'm sure it'll be fine Kenta. I wasn't hurt last time he was out."
"Well... It kinda took us both coming close to dying for him to come out... I don't know how we would trigger that reaction without..."
"We didn't know it would happen that time. We do now so we can make a kind of controlled experiment."
He just nodded. He'd said before he would do whatever she came up with... This has all happened in such a short amount of time, so he felt... really lost.
Shay could see his worry. She scooted closer, somewhat half reaching out. "It'll be okay, Kenta. Nothing has to happen right now. We'll figure something out." She tried to give the most reassuring smile she could muster.
He nodded. "Its all just happened really fast... I wanna get it under control but... Maybe we..." He let out a heavy sigh. "I'm... I think I'm going crazy." He said with a weak laugh.
"You're not going crazy, Kenta," Shay said. She was botching all of this. She knew she was. How was she supposed to help him? "Look; we don't have to do anything now. We have time. It'll be fine. I'll get a real plan together. You won't even need to worry about it."
He held his hand up to stop her. "Shay... I don't think he's even doing this anymore. My nightmare.... I said yesterday how afraid I was of that... I stayed up last night out of fear and... How long was I even asleep?" He asked her. "I... What if I'm driving myself crazy? I went from two years old to..." He waved his tails. "Five-hundred... Maybe more... A five-hundred plus year old mass murderer who might lose it at any..." He let out another heavy sigh and closed his eyes, trying to calm down. "I... can't help but worry about it but... It really isn't helping anything, is it.... If anything its gonna make everything worse..."
Shay looked to her lap when she was shushed with a hand motion of all things. She pursed her lips, listening carefully to him. She sucked up all her sympathy, shoving it far, far away. She didn't know what Kenta needed, so she went with firm love. "I don't know...what I can do to help Kenta. Do you want to sleep on my lap again? I really..." Shay sighed and looked away. She didn't want to have to admit that she was just too young to deal with this.
