Vlad smiled as Alby talked on how he enjoyed the narrow reality just as much as he did here. His father used to always go on about remembering your roots and how it'd make you stronger and more complete as a person. Granted that was old farmer wisdom and a way of convincing him to get up at ungodly hours for chores it still applied in other places.

Hearing Alby's offer to tutor him was music to his ears as he wouldn't have his old brainiac partner to rely on throughout the school year. While he hadn't seen any of Alby's grades or study habits he always deemed himself a good judge of character. Alby seemed to carry himself with the seriousness of being here and learning. If the fact he came here alone wasn't enough then the journal was. Though when he found out a price had to be paid he took a more serious demeanor.

"You need help putting your stuff up or something?" He squinted inquisitively at Alby as he had heard that statement enough times in his life to be careful of what followed.

"No, that shouldn't be a problem. I was more thinking I teach you the math stuff and you teach me the techniques your monastery taught you. My main goal is filling this book, but I'm also kinda trying to finally bend a spoon. That's like the main thing an esper strives for after all, spoon bending. Based on what you said, maybe the stuff you learned is what I need."

The plan was kind of shaky. It was really hard to tell if that really would help or not. Regardless of whether or not Vlad agreed to it, he'd still help him with his schoolwork. Teaching was one of the best ways of learning after all.

Vlad could've sworn his heart skipped a beat when the meaning of Alby's words hit him. It wasn't common at all for him to get a new recruit for the temple, and that's when he was trying. Now here he was with someone more than eager to learn about his philosophy and all that comes with it. Vlad couldn't hide the elation on his face and gave a large smile.

"I don't think I could teach you what you need to know given my rank but I could definitely put you in contact with a few of the teachers at the monastery." He pondered for less than a second, scanning his brain for all the masters available. "I know Master Tavian can move objects with his mind so maybe he'd be a good fit for you and your spoon bending endeavors. Hell by the time he's done with you you'll be able to fold a spoon several times over with your hands."

A devious chuckle escaped him as he thought back to the week his master had instructed him to learn under Tavian. "Just give me your schedule and I can look for him when I swing by later today."

A little disappointment hit Alby as he was too quick to predict where Vlad's words were going. However, the second he mentioned getting him in touch with teachers from the monastery, he perked right up. Another man that could move objects with just his mind, that was perfect.

He smiled excitedly once again. "That would be amazing!" He took out his phone. "What's your phone number, I'll send it to you." He navigated to the calendar on his phone and took a quick screenshot, easy as that.

"Sure thing." Vlad said gleefully before prattling off his number for Alby to take down. Though by the time he finished the last digit his joy turned into an awkward embarrassment. With a small sigh and of his eyes, he realized just how badly he had ruined this greeting.

"Oh...you can put my name as Vlad...seeing as I never even properly introduced myself." He rubbed the back of his head with a smile trying to hide the embarrassment settling in his stomach. To think he was so worried about first impressions he had forgotten the first step in meeting someone new.

"I'll add you when the text comes through."

Alby entered in the number, pausing at Vlad’s sigh and looking at him with a somewhat puzzled expression. The confusion went away, however, when Vlad finally told him his name.

He had it from the email he’d received about switching rooms, but was glad to finally receive it from the source. “Sure thing Vlad.” He smiled and finished filling it in before sending the message with his schedule.

“Theeere you go. Should get the message any second now.”

His phone vibrated from the incoming message and Vlad quickly checked to make sure it was Alby and not one of his sisters. Vlad's hand immediately went into the motion of adding the number to his contacts. Thankfully his phone made it easy to do so and he didn't have to type out each number.

"Cool, I'll let Master Tavian know you are interested in speaking with him. He's always happy to have a new student in his class. He can be sort of an intimidating guy on first appearance but don't let the look fool you he is a total softie and doesn't hide it much."

The pit in Vlads stomach faded as he realized Alby didn't make a big deal about his blunder. It put him at ease to know he hadn't received an abrasive roommate. For the most part, Alby seemed more laid back and relaxed which is what he enjoyed.

“Awesome! It’ll take a lot more than a tough attitude to turn me away, don’t you worry. I’m far more stubborn than I look.” Alby grinned, as if he was proud of his own stubbornness.

This whole room mate situation seemed to already be going better than expected. Not that Alby has ever really expected it to go bad, I’m fact he always thought it was going to go well. But he never would’ve guessed he’d get hooked up with some cool psychic master right off the bat.
