"Yeah man, with freedom of religion and the vast amount of cultures here you can find monks, nuns, and other clergymen like people wandering around. In my case, it is less of a religion and more of a philosophical school. We study and reflect on existence and our role in it being creatures that well...exist"

Vlad chuckled a bit.

" I've been going there for about ten years and if it wasn't for them I wouldn't know about any of the abilities I have now." He would make his palms glow with Ki for a second then stop. " Our studies go deeper than that of course as we believe in both spiritual and physical enlightenment. On that note, I should mention you may see me meditating on my bed quite a bit. Don't be afraid to make noise as it doesn't really bother me at all."

The amount of focus in Alby's eyes was almost scary. He hadn't heard much of the stuff Vlad was telling him about. This was new information. When Vlad stopped, Alby quickly started digging through his things and pulled out a thick journal and a pencil.

"Okay, you have to tell me everything." He dropped the journal down with a thud and started turning pages. "I've got so many questions..." But he figured he'd give more of an explanation first. "This journal here is my baby, I'm recording everything about the supernatural in here. That's where you come in. I haven't heard anything about anyone like you before."

He caught himself before long. "Sorry." Deep breath and calm. "It's just exciting, I'm excited. You sound really cool. But you don't have to tell me anything if you don't want to. "

To say Vlad was slightly taken aback by Alby quick shift in emotion would be an understatement. It was a rare thing to find someone become so genuinely excited by him mentioning the monastery or his lifestyle at all. The refreshing feeling made him chuckle a bit and a large smile form on his face.

He looked at the clearly used journal and nodded his head in understanding when Alby mentioned how much it meant to him. He could understand that much. His brainiac of an ex-roommate was the same way with his research notes. The fact that Alby's research was based on the supernatural going on one of the islands made sense considering he grew up in the normal world.

Giving a dismissive wave at Alby's apologies Vlad would speak up "No no it's alright actually. I don't get that sort of reaction when I mention the monastery all the time so it is nice to know we aren't boring to the masses." Leaning back on his arms he'd continue "Well to start off I'm not that special I'm just a regular human. The monastery is open to everyone that has the mental and physical means of enlightening themselves. Secondly, you are likely to find more of us on the eastern part of the island as I mentioned. The temple itself is in the forest but it isn't that hard to get to if you read one of our pamphlets or have someone guide you there."

Perfect. People were usually excited to share their supernatural sides with him or they were really against it and didn’t want to talk about it. Alby was glad that Vlad appeared to be the first of those things.

With a grin on his face, he started writing down everything Vlad told him. All of it under a subsection of human titled Vlad. He was honestly a little surprised that he was a monk rather than a werewolf like he’d first thought, but this was possibly even better.

“Wow, so you started off a regular ol’ human and they got you doing some sort of special exercises that allowed you to gain powers? Fascinating. Are you allowed to tell me what they had you doing?”

Vlad sighed sullenly looking away from Alby with a very dramatic flourish "Sadly it is one of those things that if I tell you I have to kill you." It was hopefully obvious to Alby that he was joking but even if it wasn't his laugh afterward would've lightened the mood.

" But seriously I wouldn't classify myself as anything but a regular old human. Many of us believe that every creature that exists has some inherent power in them whether they know it or not. Though just like any muscle if it is not used then its showing will degrade. All the monastery does is offer people ways to discover and tap into that gift. Things like meditation, reflection, and training are what push us closer to truly understanding ourselves and the existence we live in."

Vlad checked the clock on the wall with a quick glance. " The monastery's main goal is to just spread the steps to enlightenment and improve the existence of others by doing so. Since attending is free most people come for the physical and spiritual journey and then leave when they feel ready."

Alby smirked at the obvious joke. "Well, I'm pretty curious, so just make sure the death is painless afterward." Again, it was pretty clear he was joking along.

He seemed to be writing with lightning speed as Vlad continued to explain how the monastery worked. He didn't do much thinking until he'd finished writing, but a thought did cross his mind. He wondered if that type of training could help with his telekinesis.

"Interesting, truly!" He clapped his hands together and put his pencil down. " I do have to ask though. The silver and wolfsbane allergies... I'm sure you're aware that those are typical werewolf problems, is that just a coincidence then?" He said it already, that he was human, but those allergies were just shouting werewolf at him and he couldn't have this information being incorrect.

Vlad's eyebrows perked up when his allergies were brought up again. In the back of his head, he felt what was coming and tried his best to remain calm and unshaken. It was what he trained for, moments like this. When the question finally came a tinge of indifference hit his otherwise calm and complacent face. He didn't like thinking back on the origins of his condition to much he only paid attention he didn't hurt himself.

"Oh...well I got the lycanthrope curse when I was younger but the doctors were able to stop it before I changed. The problems as you call it stuck with me, however." His sentence ended there but he left no room for a follow-up question. " So this book of yours do you carry it everywhere or just record stuff when you get home? Seems like you've gotten a lot of use from it already."

His mind worked quickly to change the subject off him. That split second of unease was enough to place rather dark thoughts in his head. Thoughts that were best avoided if he wanted to keep making progress in life.

It seemed his gut was right at least in some way. But that wasn’t really for the best here. Alby knew of only a few ways to get a lycanthrope type curse, and if whatever happened to Vlad had some sort of similarity, then it was likely pretty terrible. His smile disappeared for this, replaced by a more serious expression.

Alby could tell that Vlad was trying to change the subject but he let it happen. As much as he felt a desire to know more about what happened. He knew it would be wrong to chase it.

“I carry this bad boy everywhere I go. It’s magic, so it gets even bigger as I write more inside. I do worry that it’s going to get too big on me though. Then I might have to leave it at home.”

"Oh, its magic?" He raised a curious eyebrow taking a second look at the journal. It wasn't that astounding that something plain could be magical but more so that Alby had put so much in the magical book already. " There is probably a magical solution if it ever got too big. One of the things you'll notice is that all problems here can be solved if you put enough time into finding its solution."

A thought crossed his mind causing him to laugh "Well, almost all problems I've been searching for an answer on how to get through all my classes for a while now and have yet to find anything."

He laughed a bit more. "How have you been dealing with the change in schools? From what I've seen narrow reality is pretty dull in terms of classroom diversity. Nothing but humans around you."

Alby nodded. “Yes, there is in fact a few solutions. There’s journals that are like this one but can actually shrink and grow as you please. The issue is the only ones I’ve seen were super expensive.”

Alby laughed along with Vlad as he mentioned the one issue magic didn’t seem to solve. Then he thought back to his time at school back on Earth.

“In that regard, you’re right, there wasn’t anybody around who wasn’t human and so I couldn’t really be doing what I’m doing here.” He put a hand on his chin. “It was less exciting for sure but I did meet a bunch of cool people back there. As much as I do love to see some crazy awesome powers, you don’t actually need any to still be crazy or awesome.”

“Aside from missing a few folks, I do love it here though. I haven’t had a hard time adjusting at all. The school is more normal than I expected.”

He smirked. “As for your classes, if you need a hand I could try to help you out. I generally do fine at schoolwork. But it’s gonna cost you.”
