She let him lead her to the dance floor, taking a few furtive glances around, before getting into position in front of him, placing a hand on his shoulder, and starting to dance along.

Surprisingly, she actually did manage to follow along without tripping over him or herself. It's clear she isn't too coordinated, and she doesn't try to do anything particularly outlandish beyond the simple steps, but she's able to follow along largely without trouble.

Standing this close, however, clearly did little to help with the nerves. She clears her throat awkwardly, before speaking.

"Um, I guess this isn't your first time at this, right? Since you've lived here for most of your life and all."

"It's not my first time attending. It is my first time showing up with a date though. So I guess in that regard you can feel special," he laughed a little. Wednesday was dancing pretty well all things considered. He hadn't gotten stepped on or tripped over.

"I gotta say, it's kind of a different experience. Like grabbing a rando to dance with versus coming with a date. Might have to go for something like this again next year," he left off the part about the possibility of asking her to the ball again next year. The future was a blur, and nothing could be said for certain. "I think asking you out of all the people I could have was the right decision though..."

That got an obvious blush out of her, she shrunk into herself a little as they continued to dance.

"A-alright, I get it, um, your popular. No need to rub it in." She joked, trying to play it off with another nervous little laugh and doing a poor job of it. "But um...thanks. I'm glad I got to tag along. This is...pretty nice."

She smiled. With all the elaborate dresses and decorations and music, the dance felt like something right out of the books she read. She couldn't deny it was something she was enjoying. Maybe she could try coming next year, maybe trying to be a bit more adventurous then.

Assuming she wasn't dead by then.

The smile faltered on her for a moment, with how close they were it was almost impossible to miss. But she quickly shook it off. Didn't want to bring things down now. The night was going so well.

Sazz did in fact catch her smile waver a little. There really wasn't much that he wasn't aware of though. He'd noticed a few people looking uncomfortable and others just leaving at about the same time. Wednesday's reaction was not only later, but different compared to them. Something was amiss, but that wasn't important. Currently Wednesday was more important than the latest scoop.

"Don't worry, for tonight at least everything's fine," he gave her a confident grin as opposed to his standard up to no good grin. He didn't know what was up with her, but he was ever confident he could help remedy the situation. "We can slog through whatever bullshit life has tomorrow."
