A tall blond haired man, dressed in a black and grey tux and wearing a black mask, entered the festively decorated ballroom and surveyed the room and people before him. He watched the dancers for a long moment, looking to see if he recognised anyone before he walked off to one side of the dance floor, near the refreshments tables. There he greeted a few other people, all of them helping themselves to some food or drink.

It hadn't been long before a familiar voice caught Thomasin's attention. The voice belonged to Lucan. A kind young man who Thomasin knew from several meetings over the last month. He was a bit of a flirt, and she knew he had a couple of girlfriends. She had gotten the impression that he was a charmer. A silver-tongued rogue of a person.

She smiled as he approached her and even gave a small curtsey, lifting the edges of her dress and lowering her head. "Lucan. What a pleasure it is to see you tonight." Her accent was thick and sweet, causing her words to flow like musical verse.

"Thank you. It is nozzing fancy. Just somezzing I Zrew togezzer* She gave a small flourish of her dress and giggled. "But I can see you are looking razzer handsome zis evening." She continued to smile while she looked around him. "I do not see any lovely ladies on yer arm. Might I zink you are alone ere zis evening?"

Evie pouted, this girl wasn't fun at all. Maybe she's one of the staff, she thought. Though a young girl wearing a dress being part of the security felt pretty odd to her.

Then again, everything on this island so far was weird as hell. That idea was pretty tame by comparison.

"Ooooh! Those! right." She flashed another disingenuous smile. "Alright, I guess you caught me. Better hand them over. Or..."

She spread both her arms, her suit jacket hanging open, grinning with a challenging gaze in her eyes.

"If you wanna make sure I'm definitely not hiding anything, you're welcome to search me. Gotta make sure you're thorough, right?"

She was calm, her heartbeat slow and normal. She didn't seem to care that she had been caught, all she wanted to see now was whether she could get a rise out of the strange girl.

He'd give a bow, "thank you, and you look beautiful," yes he was a bit of a flirt and maybe a little bit of a pervert, but he was kind. "I'm happy you came, I think I'm a little out of my element here," he'd say with a small chuckle, "it's extravagant," much more than the ex thief was used to.

"Well, for now," he'd say with a chuckle, "letting my girlfriends dance with friends first, meet up with them a bit later." The ball would go on for sometime, so there was no rush, plenty of time to dance with them.

The young man would smile and offer his hand, "speaking of dancing, would you like to dance with me?"

“Understood. Commencing search.” Sasha nodded, starting her search. Using her hands she patted down the individual starting with their sides and waist, finding several pieces of cutlery in various locations, some of which seemed to merely be sticking to their body in ways that shouldn’t have been possible. Each time she found one, the automaton would slowly shake her head, in an attempt to non aggressively shame them from doing this behavior in the future. Upon reaching their chest however, Sasha stopped to look them in the eyes.

“Apologies. I appear to have addressed you incorrectly Miss. Please forgive my mistake. However the search must continue now.” She said, bowing slightly before moving onto their legs, finding several more stolen items.

He jumped a little as the guy he was trying to be friendly with snapped at him. For a moment, he just stood still, not knowing what to do. He was only being friendly but maybe this person was not the best guy to be friends with. However, then the guy apologised. "Erm... yeah, it's all new for me too," he replied, wondering whether it might be best that he kept dancing alone.

His tense stature eased a little as the guy made a joke. "Nice to meet you Crashed Wave," he replied, shaking his hand. "So, are you here alone or are you waiting for someone?"

She too drank her drink that she just poured all in one go. Maybe the whole charade would be easier if she wasn't completely sober. It was true that this man in red was very nice but something kept telling her that somehow, she would find a way to ruin it - and she didn't want to be that way anymore.

She looked down at his hand momentarily, taking a breath before placing her hand in his. She would never normally do something of the like; it would leave herself vulnerable. Not everyone is a threat, she had to remind herself. "I'm... sorry if I mess this up," she said as they made their way together, not sure in her own mind if she was talking about dancing or whatever it was between them.

Crashed Wave didn't really know what he was doing. At the Ball or even just talking to this random dude. He'd made a stellar first impression though. Way to earn the 'crashed' part of his fake name. He shrugged it off though, nothing he could do about that now.

"I'm here alone I guess. Only one of my friends even knows I'm coming to this thing." Which was fine. The anonymity of the Ball was half the reason he was able to be convinced to come. No one would know who he was behind the mask. Hopefully.

He gestured vaguely towards New. "You know, you can make up a cooler sounding name. Or I can just keep calling you New," he smirked. He hadn't given any other name to use- even seemed like he had stopped himself from giving a name at all.

...Well, that had been anticlimactic. She'd hoped that she would be at least a little taken aback. Evie figured she really must be one of the staff if she went about the search with such efficiency. She didn't even seem to be that surprised when she hit her chest.

"Yeah yeah, it's fine..." She grumbled dejectedly, keeping her hands where they were as the silverware was eventually extracted from her clothing piece by piece. Once she's finally collected them all, Evie stepped back, crossing her arms and huffing.

"Jeez, you're really no fun aren't you? It's like you're a robot or something." She leans her body to the side, softly but firmly poking the side of her head.

Left Paw continued slowly walking though the ballroom. His gaze scanning between all the gathered people in various stages of conversation or dance. The majority had paired off and it seemed more of the people who had not yet begun to dance were lingering near the refreshments. Perhaps heading to that side of the room would be more successful. Either for him or for Right Paw, or possibly both.

He changed direction and circled around the dance floor to approach the refreshments table. His focus was more on the people there than on the food, for the time being.

Right Paw continued maintaining her approximate distance from Left Paw and followed him as he decided to move towards the refreshments table. She watched all the people dancing for a few moments while she walked and then returned to looking for the people who had not yet paired off. A momentary panic occurred when a couple walked between the Paws and forced them to begin separating further but it was quickly remedied as the couple passed.
