At first, Will thought she was going to reject the idea, but she pulled the sleeve of her dress over the cuff, much to the boy's relief. He also found solace in the fact that he was the only one here that knew about, and couldn't help but smile when she called him a good friend. He turned away slightly to hide the smile.

"You shouldn't tell anyone else about them unless you really trust them," Will said. He immediately thought that that statement sounded quite selfish, but pushed away the thought. He was just looking out for her, and she didn't have to listen to him at all if she didn't want to.

The thought of feeling mana again caused excitement to spark in Will's heart, but he quickly calmed himself. Elizabeth had clearly lost a considerable amount of energy after healing that squirrel, and although he didn't know her limitations, he didn't want to risk anything. He was being especially cautious after hearing the purpose of her cuff.

"I think I'll be fine," he said, "but thank you anyway for asking. You just healed that squirrel, and I don't want you to push yourself too much."

William's obvious concern gave Elizabeth a good feeling. She didn't know other people who would say such things out of worry, and she didn't have that many friends either, but William was everything a friend could be, and she smiled at the thought that he was her first. She didn't find what he said selfish at all; she nodded to it, and even laughed. "I won't."

She did pout, however, when William technically rejected the offer. "That squirrel was nothing!" As if to prove her point, Elizabeth quickly stood up, facing William, and made one swift turn. "I feel fine, see? What kind of healer would I be if I begin to feel exhausted only after using mana once? I stumbled a little a while ago, but I'm alright now."

Will was broken out of his calm state with the sudden change in Elizabeth's tone. He jumped slightly, almost falling off of the bench. Elizabeth, however, did get off of the bench, and Will silently watched the spectacle in front of him. He wanted to laugh, but decided against it. He didn't want to end up upsetting her even more.

When she was finished, Will spoke. "I'm sorry," he said. "I didn't realize you thought so strongly on the topic. I just thought you might need a bit of rest."

The boy stood up, first stretching his legs, and then his arms. He couldn't deny the fact that the mere thought of that feeling excited him. His hands found their way into his pockets. "I guess you can do it," he said. "As long as you're sure you'll be fine. I wouldn't want you fainting on my behalf."

Elizabeth smiled a smile of determination, and nodded. "I'll be alright," she assured William, before hopping onto the bench, so she was slightly higher than him. She seemed thrilled to be able to use her abilities for William once more, not forgetting for even just a second that she's relied on him a lot already.

She was grateful he worried, but she stubbornly still wanted to help him however she can.

So, she brought her hands up on both sides of William's head and began to gather the mana in the air. Her palms soon glowed with the layer of raw mana, and then moved to press them on William's temples and let them seep in. Relieving stress around the head and neck always felt the most wonderful in Elizabeth's opinion, though soon the mana would also travel down to every part of William's body, just as they did before when Elizabeth tried it the first time in the woods.

After a couple of minutes, the mana finally completely seeped in, though Elizabeth did not let William go immediately. If he became too relaxed, he might stagger a little, so she made sure she'd catch him if ever. "How do you feel?" she asked, her voice carefully quiet, not wanting to disrupt the calmness that would be taking over William's entire body.

It was only after Elizabeth smiled the way she did that Will realized how much she had wanted to do this. He hadn't the slightest idea why, but decided that if he knew how much she wanted this to happen in the first place, he would've let her do it without hesitation. In any case, he was happy that he would be able to experience this again.

It caught Will off guard when Elizabeth put her hands on his head instead of his chest, but he managed to keep his composure. However, it became more and more difficult to do that as the minutes rolled by.

When the procedure was done, Will's body began to lean forward. He would've let himself fall asleep if Elizabeth wasn't right in front of him, so he caught himself as to not fall on her. "How do I feel?" Will said. He felt the same way he did before. All tension was released from his muscles, and his body felt weightless, but the sensation was increased tenfold. It was a feeling like none other (except for when he felt it the first time).

Of course, Will didn't say anything of that. Instead, he stared at the girl in front of him for a few seconds before plopping onto the bench rather roughly. He allowed his eyes to close as he spoke, his voice soft and calm. "Sorry," he said. "I just had to make sure I still had a physical body. This feels amazing." He turned to Elizabeth, his eyes half open, and smiled warmly. "That magic of yours is incredible."

Elizabeth flinched when he sat down, and she, in turn, hopped off the bench and turned around to face him. She didn't seem as tired as when she healed the squirrel; at least she tried her best not to look like it. She gleamed, quite amused at how her friend reacted. Everyone she's used her abilities on always had similar reactions, but with William, the scene looked much warmer and more delightful.

She stepped forward and patted him, the same way a healer did her patient to congratulate them for being a good boy. Although she really just wanted to pat him, considering this was one of those rare moments that she could even see the top of his head. She giggled, before taking a seat beside him. With a sigh, she leaned back against the bench, tilting her head up and closing her eyes. "Let's rest. This is a good time to do so."

She wasn't tired, no, really. She just thought falling asleep on the bench under the sun wasn't such a bad idea.

Will sighed contently as Elizabeth patted his head. It was something that his mother would do all the time, and the action brought him back to his years at home. He was almost disappointed when she stopped, but was fine with the company that came afterwards.

Will opened one eye to look at Elizabeth. He could tell that she was tired, and felt bad about it even though it was her choice to give him some mana. He found himself wanting to talk to her more, but didn't want to disturb her. So, instead he opted to just sit there, drinking in the sun's rays.

However, Will realized that he couldn't sit there for much longer. The mana he was given made him want to fall asleep, but he wanted to try something. He stood up and walked a few feet in front of the bench. The fire of his soul was begging to seep from his skin, but it didn't feel uncomfortable in the slightest. With no effort, flames formed on his shoulders and began to snake around his arms until it reached his palms.

Will's hands clenched into fists, and he aimed them toward the clouds. Golden flames shot from his fists and flew into the sky. The flames were going longer than they had ever gone—nowhere near the clouds, of course—and Will knew that it was because of the mana. He laughed to himself before snuffing out the flames, looking at his hands with wide eyes.

Although the sun was a bit too warm during this season, Elizabeth didn't mind staying where she was for a few more minutes. But she sensed that William stood up, and she opened her eyes and followed his form as he moved and aimed at the sky, and as the golden flames shot into the sky.

Elizabeth's eyes practically sparkled with delight while watching, her lips parted into an opened awestruck grin, which she carelessly covered with her hands. More than the sight of golden flames, she was also thrilled to see a laughing William.

"You really are cool, William--! oh wait..." Elizabeth recalled just in time how inaccurate that expression was for her friend. Her face twisted in deep serious thought as she tried to look for another compliment she could give him. "'Awesome' is a better word, I suppose. But in any case--" settling with that new word, her face brightened once more and she smiled at William, "--that's how I think when I watch you and your magic. It's really beautiful. Oh but... why did you do that all of a sudden?" Then, her face shifted to a curious expression.

Will felt like his entire body was on fire, which would have been the case if he didn't control his flames. At this point in time, his soul was generating tons of heat that was begging to shoot from his skin, but he only barely kept the urge in check. He would have let it happen if there weren't so many things in the surrounding area, the most apparent one being his friend.

Will looked at Elizabeth, breathing heavily. This time, he didn't laugh even half as hard when she referred to him as "cool." He couldn't say that there were many people that had called him awesome. "Thanks," he said, not knowing what else to say about it.

Will looked down at his hands again. He could feel the energy flowing through him as if it was a physical substance. "That mana you gave me really got my soul stirring," he explained. "Literally. Large amounts of heat started coming from my soul, and I had to get it out. It wasn't uncomfortable, and I was able to control it, but it was unexpected."

Well, it didn't sound like such a bad thing-- the soul stirring bit, that is. But Elizabeth frowned, realizing she might need to put some restraint on herself regarding using her mana on people if it really had such an effect on them. She shouldn't be surprised; it was meant to give extra strength, after all. But she was relatively new to the island, still lacking experience, and she was quite late to realize that the effect of her magic on people here would be different from its effect on mages and normal humans.

After those thoughts, Elizabeth smiled once more and decided to stand up and join William.

"Now we know," she said. "I suppose it would have been a good thing if we were in a battle, but it's quite peaceful in the academy, there's almost no dire need to use our magic. That, too, is also a good thing, I suppose. One time, I was walking around at night and a stranger tried to pull a prank on me. He gave me quite the fright and I ended up throwing raw mana at him! Thank goodness my aim wasn't very well. But I destroyed some plants because of it..."
