Leo had a lot of time to consider his decision between his classes, listening to the other students talk as he often did. His entire life had served to reinforce one certainty: That he was in some way lesser to humanity, and despite his assertion that he hadn’t been conditioned in the same way his more...servile siblings had been, deep down he knew he believed it too. It wasn’t true, the academy’s therapist has been working hard to assure him, but the thought was always at the back of his mind.
So once he’d caught wind of a student who could potentially grant him a wish he couldn’t shake this idea. That maybe it was worth experiencing what he was missing. Maybe he could see if there was any truth to what he’d been taught to believe.
He’d seen Malicia in passing a few times during his remedial education, though once he was moved into 10 grade he encountered her significantly less. Once the school day had ended and most students were leaving their classes for the dorms or to the city, he set out to go find her. At least her appearance was distinctive enough to make the search easy.
