"No, the one before that...about kidnapping? You kidnap...people?"
If Laetus was a kidnapper, did he hurt people too? How was kidnapping fun? Was he even being serious?
She just nodded at his mention of ice cream, still eyeing his face to try and determine if he was joking with her or not. He looked pretty serious.

He nodded. "Yeah, once or twice... Might have been three times. Seems to always be rival businesses." He thought for a moment, then gave the waitress a thumbs up from across the room. She seemed to know what it meant, and went off to get their dessert.

Maddie glanced over her shoulder just as the waitress disappeared. She wondered if Laetus had brought people here before, it seemed so.
She took an apprehensive gulp of her soda, giving herself time to think.
