Maddie leaned forward to try and see his face. "What was that? What did you say?"

"Liar! I heard that part."

She reached down to tap his nose. "Better tell me."

Maddie stared at the empty spot behind them. Erm...she had let go of the leash a long time ago, hadn't she? Silly silly Maddie.

She wasn't so much afraid for Bandit, she was sure he would be fine, but she did feel guilty.

"He's gonna be soooo mad at me," she said as if Bandit were a person.

She looked down at Laetus, earlier struggle forgotten, "think he'll forgive me for leaving him behind?"

"My Bandit doesn't chew shoes OR stuffed animals. He is a behaved, innocent creature and how dare you suggest he would de — probably..."

She hung her head.

"I didn't realize you teleported my dog. When did you ma-- Was it when I was throwing the ball? Is that why you made me throw it?"
