Just a new girl and her laptop

"Well, I made it here without winding up in Antarctica." Noelle mumbled to herself. "Although, Antarctica doesn't sound to bad this time of year, with all the beautiful white snow. The freezing air, the icebergs. Actually, it's like that most of the year." So far in her life, that funniest conversations Noelle had in her life, were ones with herself. 'Because I am my best listener' she thought to herself. She looked around the room. It looked empty. 'Fine with me, as long as there are no super annoying blast you with energy people around here, I'll be good. She sat down on the couch and kicked off her shoes. She would have left them in her bedroom, but she wasn't sure of everything around here. She stretched her legs along the couch and yawned. She flipped open the top of her laptop and turned it on. She looked around to observe the room. Some tvs, couches and computers. 'Good, in case my laptop breaks down or something.'

When it was on, she logged in to her e-mail. 'Advertisements, trash, notifications, parents... ahh! parents.' She had been hoping to receive this e-mail. Her parents asked her how things were going if she met anyone stuff like that. I suppose I'll have to answer them one way or another. She had only been here a few hours, but she really hoped she'd meet some one cool to be a prankster with, and to sneak around the school at night with. 'Maybe we'll become friends! Wow! did I just think that? It's not like me, but who knows, maybe there will be some person cool enough to hang with me. Maybe I'll find a significant other! He has to be nice but not to bubble, caring but not to overprotective. He can't be creepy, and he has to respect my powers. Maybe I should write this down or something, I might actually meet some one nice!'

The door creaked open and a very strange girl walked in, carrying two bags of fast-food. Her stocking-covered legs were seemingly screwed into her waist and made sounds one would find in a production factory, and trailing behind her was a giant fish tail, one resembling that of a clownfish. Her steps were long and creaky, and the fish-girl had a neutral face resembling that of a child; wide-eyed and smiling. She wore an orange Japanese schoolgirl uniform top. This was Gunde "Jaeger" Takeda, the deadliest yet most silent mermaid along the German coast.

She looked tired, however, having gone through a somewhat rough day. Having an accent and German translations for her paperwork was taxing on the mind, and she had just gone through a whole hour of it. Gunde sat on the couch, right next to Noelle. She placed the fast-food bags on a counter. Licking her lips, the German undid a screw on her left prosthetic leg. It emitted a depressurized sound, like when you opened a jar of jelly. Gunde took her leg off, setting it on the floor. She attempted to unscrew the one on her right leg, but a little 'clink' sounded and the mermaid sighed. She then punched the leg very hard, leaving a small dent in the metal. The leg popped right off, Gunde grabbing it and putting it next to her other leg. She rubbed her hands around her hips and softly moaned as she released some tension in the muscles there.

She continued massaging the area around the metal sockets that seemed to go straight into her pelvis bone for a few moments, then moved to grab a hand-sized box out of one bag. "Sorry about zat." She said to Noelle, making a glance of eye contact with her ocean blue eyes. She then pulled out a burger and started chewing on it, looking neither disgusted not content with the taste.

If any onlookers passed by, they would have probably laughed at Noelle's face. Her mouth was made in a tight line slightly pointing down. Her blue eyes turned slightly more pale, and they were kept wide. She couldn't believe she had just witnessed that whole crazy scene. She watched the girl, and looked at the strange fish tail. Noelle had seen some interesting things at her parent's school, but never that interesting. She glanced at the girl's tali, to her legs, and back to her tail.

The smell of hamburger hit Noelle, at the same time as what she though the girl was. Either a robotic fish, a mermaid or a transformer. Really, it didn't matter which one.

"Sorry about zat."

"Yea, its, yea, you know, its,.... fine." She was still a little surprised by the whole scene, but she supposed that was something she had to get used to. She looked at the girl eating the burger. She sighed. More than likely, the girl was expecting and introduction. "Hi, I'm Noelle," she said in a slightly nicer tone than usual.

The mermaid swallowed and looked at the blue-haired girl for a few seconds, not betraying any judgment or emotion other than her neutral happiness. She's from a well-to-do family, given she has her own laptop. She's also probably not entirely human, and she looked to be a year or two older than Gunde. The clownfish-based girl set these notes set these notes and some others in the library of blackmail and information that was her mind, ready to use it later. But for now, keep looking the part of the cute little European girl. "Noelle, ja? I'm Gunde. Lot's of people know me as Jaeger, though." Gunde remarked offhandedly, with a somewhat high voice and a German accent. If you know Gunde, you have to know that she's Jaeger.

Gunde then looked at her burger somewhat distastefully. She put the burger back in the box, to feed to her tentacles later, and begun to work on the french fries. As she grabbed her first one, she saw Noelle's laptop. Looked pretty recent in design. "That's a nice laptop." Gunde blinked once and moved her attention to the ice user's face, her childlike face betraying naught but curiosity and questioning. On the inside, the mermaid really was interested in the laptop, being as tech-savvy as she was. The outside design portrayed the fact it was made by a well-known company, and as a latest model, probably had a good amount of perks to it. With a little upgrades here and there, Gunde was sure she could piece together a little supercomputer. "What type is it?" She asked. This was essential to the mechanic's aspirations. Limits were what determined something's ability, one way or another.

'Gunde' Noelle thought. That's a weird name. "Jaeger? What does that mean?" Noelle asked, slightly rudely. Honestly she didn't care whether or not she sounded nice. This girl was looking at her laptop a lot. "What exactly are you anyway?" she asked. Most people would flip if they heard this question, but Noelle really didn't care.

"That's a nice laptop, what type is it?"

Noelle looked at the girl funny, then shook her head. "Type? I don't know, and I really don't care. All I know is that it's one of Apple's newest, and just what I need for this school. 'So I can look up what the hay a Jaeger is' she thought to herself. "It took me like forever to make enough money to buy it, I had to make and sell ice sculptures to pay for it. My parents could only afford to pay for the insurance plan on it." She stopped. Like this girl wanted to know about her laptop anyway. Honestly she couldn't stand people that talked on and on about the petty details of their life. She disliked those people slightly less than bouncy bubble people. However, Noelle was getting the feeling that there was a high possibility of more her kind, and even some evil people at this school too. 'I just have to avoid the creeps, and find some cool people to chill with. None of those mind reader people though, that is a total privacy invasion. Plus, you can like never insult them privately because they can read all your thoughts. How does that work anyway? People produce tons of thoughts in seconds, so is it like having a bunch of people talking to you all at once, saying lots of weird things?' Honestly Noelle hoped she would never have to find out. Some times she was slightly bummed that her powers were only physical things, but she was lucky to be special at all.

Gunde smiled at the somewhat disrespectful bluenette. How quaint for a first meeting. "Look up 'german coast gang member jaeger' for vat it means for me. You'll be surprised. I'm a mermaid who drilled legs into her hips." She was given a funny look, as if she was crazy. Gunde just smiled even more as she explained how she obtained that laptop. By working for herself, and her parents could only afford the insurance plans. That meant her household wasn't as well-to-do as the rest, which mean that there were no private tutors than, assumingly, her parents for her powers. In that case, she's led a social and happy life along the middle class. Additionally, since she makes ice sculptures in the 21st century and isn't broke, she probably has powers over ice. Most likely ranged, like all the other ice girls Gunde had dealt with. An 'accident', a hostage, and a sneak attack should be able to take her out if the situation arises. Logical deduction going at a snails pace compared to what Gunde normally dealt with, she stored that info away also.

But for now, the mermaid just leaned back and waited for the laptop-bearing female to search up the article that pointed at her various dealings as a slippery killer in the Baltic. Doing so, she grabbed some more fries, stuffed them in her mouth, and picked up her leg. The mermaid took a wrench out of her shirt, presumably under her bra, and opened the right leg. A bit of steam came rushing out, and Gunde huffed cutely as she tampered with the devices within the leg. The kneecap limbs had gone rusty, producing way more friction than required and burning some of the engine sets. The brunette just grumbled as she took out a finger-sized engine and twisted it's bolt a little, causing a light on it to emit green. She put the engine back in and everything started whirring and beeping coherently. Gunde closed it up, swallowed her fries, and proceeded to eat another strand of the deliciously salty things, munching quietly while staring at the wall. Wouldn't do to disturb the ice girl.

ooc: If you haven't read her bio, then Gunde is infamous along the German coast as "Jaeger", who is basically a gang ace that gets off scot-free.

'Gang member?' thought Noelle. I thought this wasn't your ordinary mermaid fish person. She looked it up on her laptop. 'Ok, that's just weird.' she thought to herself. "So I take it that you don't sit on rocks and sing, while you brush your hair. Noelle held her breath as the steam came out. She watched as the little green light came on. "So, how exactly do your legs work?" Noelle wasn't sure she wanted an answer, but she was curious. She looked at them and then glanced and what the girl was eating. 'Fries?' she thought. 'Ah, of course, they have salt. Mermaids like salt. But this isn't an ordinary mermaid, this is a dangerous mermaid, and I'm probably one of the first people she's met. Better play it cool, I can fight, but no reason to make enemies for no good reason.' She leaned back a tad, and let her body relax.

"Vell, sometimes. Mostly sitting on rocks, pretending I'm innocent, but, you know how it goes." Gunde pointed her wrench at various objects. First, the plug of the legs, which had a little cable-like thing popping out of it. "That connects to my nervous system through my veins, which is what makes the limbs move. The movement CPU is powered by these batteries." Points to the said batteries. "The nervous vires go through a hollow 'bone' in the middle and branch into ze limbs required." She tapped a vaguely obsidian metal. "Zose limbs vould be my ankle, kneecap, and my pelvis socket that I had to dig out myself. That's a nother fun story that you can hear later, if you vant." An unholy grin appeared upon Gunde's mouth.

Gunde scowled at her right leg and grabbed a fistful of gears from the kneecap, pulling them semi-violently. A bit like how somebody would rip a throat out. Her hand opened to reveal a wad of melted, rusted, and cracked mechanics. "Sadly, I zon't zink ze gears can handle ze amount of force used in everyday tasks. I don't have zose state-of-the-art resources, so I have to rely on market brand. It isn't good." Gunde made her face neutral again and threw the wad of messed up metals into a nearby garbage can. "Ah vell, Ill just use my replacement leg."

It's all fairly simple knowledge on how this leg works, and she tells it to everybody. After all, if they had ANY sort of contact who's had experience with prosthetics, they should know the mechanics and add-ons this thing should have. But, the girl doesn't know about the other neat stuff the mermaid has up her sleeve, and that's the most important. "So zats how it works." Gunde looked at Noelle again, grabbing another fry. "Vant a fry?"

Noelle listened carefully and watched with an inspecting eye. The whole thing was a little crazy, but really, she liked interesting people. Gunde was definitely an interesting person. 'Oh yes,' Noelle though to herself,'I know exactly how it goes. Pretending to be innocent and beautiful, then pulling innocent victims to their fate. I don't know why, but that's how it it. I wonder how gangs of mermaids attack their victims. Really, she'd rather be told, then experience it. She listened to the rest of it. "That's interesting, you must be really good at it by now."

"Vant a fry?"

"Sure, thanks," said Noelle as reached out to grab one. She stopped. "There isn't some kind of special poison that mermaids are immune to on there is it?" she asked. She eyed the fry suspiciously and then looked at Gunde. it was always better to be safe then sorry.
