"I knew that, it only seems like it to me, and if you think this static reality is better than real magic, you are certainly missing out."

Aurora was wondering momentarily if William was just slightly off-kilter with how he fought. It was effective of course, but effective wasn't the same as sane. The mage shoved the thought aside however, and kept firing, aiming for center mass at long range, and gravitating towards using minor entropy to land headshots when the beings were much closer to them.

It wasn't easy. As the pair got closer and closer to the center of the swamp, Aurora found she was expending much more ammunition per drone.

"I would rather not have to fight thousands of these, just the few we've downed have already given me the creeps. I don't think these things are set to kill thankfully. I bet the city would have a fit."

Aurora drew one of her blades and was now using it to supplement her fire, lest she pay an exorbitant amount for the match grade .45 ACP she used.

"So...while we're whirling about...tell me a little about yourself. Are you a Starlight student? Or just here because?"

Well, it is certainly better than any magic I have seen so far. William said, breathing heavily because of the heavy swamp air, combined with running and hitting everything that got in his way.

He ignored her second statement for the lack of energy to speak, and then laughed at her question, his hands dropping to his knees as he stopped to catch his breath.

Well, they haven't kicked me out yet, so, yeah, I guess I'm a Starlight Student. he said, looking at the woman through the few loose strands of hair that had fallen over his forehead, the eyes behind them glowing like mad. He was going to have to apologize to Spirit later. This room was made fun.

Though he still didn't appreciate being dragged.

What about you? he said, eyeing her composure. You a teach? If she was, he was surprised she hadn't heard of him before. Well, maybe she was new.

"The good stuff is usually reserved until you need it. The best stuff exists right underneath your nose."

Sure it sounded cryptic, but in all honesty, it actually wasn't. Aurora's magic was almost always spun under the cover of situations that didn't look like magic at all. Sure, she had had a lot of practice shooting at things, but part of it was magic as well. Just, nobody noticed, which was frankly the point.

"It sounds as though the school has been troubling for you."

It wouldn't be the first time. Aurora had her fair of problem students, but never had they been disruptive in her class. Sure, she was aware of several students, but strangely, William was not one of them. It was also possible that she simply hadn't listened quite as well as she should have during staff meetings. Talking about students problems was simply not something she cared to do much.

"I direct the school's music program and curate the museum being built in the library. You should come around some time. Do you play an instrument? Sing?"

It's more like I have been troubling for school. William corrected her immediately, a grim expression on his face. He was always quick to correct people who tried to blame his behaviour on his school or peers. He was done with that, being something because of somebody else, so whatever that he was, he was because of himself.

And no, not really. he said, thinking that he had never actually had a time, or opportunity to try himself at either of those things. Then again, he had also never had a wish to do so either.

I'm afraid I'm one of those people who prefere hitting things more. he said, grinning, as yet another nightmare-monster went under the water.

Suddenly, the swamp went completely quiet.

"That's a shame. I don't get why someone would attempt to actually stir up and create trouble, especially if they were consciously aware of it."

It was more a broad question than anything. Of course people had their motives for doing otherwise questionable things. The problem was that Thirteen was not privy, nor did feel that knowing William's motive for whatever he was doing or had done would do either of them any good.

"Also a shame you don't do any of those things. If you ever get the chance and want to learn, I do lessons away from any organized class."

It was probably a futile effort, but still a worthwhile one. Thirteen couldn't directly interfere, and wouldn't unless they became a threat to themselves or others. Maybe she would have to talk to some of the other staff later, but until then, Aurora's hands were effectively tied. After their conversation paused for a moment, so did the swamp. Their targets effectively disappeared.

"Normally I'd be against the hitting, but considering our situation, such a mindset might be to our advantage."

Aurora reloaded her weapon and stepped forward.

"Normally I enjoy surprises...but this isn't Christmas, and so far, everything has tried to kill us. I can feel something under the water...it's not a nice feeling.

Of course everything has tried to kill us. he said, huffing bitterly, a bit irritated by her words somehow. Usually, he didn't care nowadays what the teachers and other students said about him, but still, from time to time, something would get through his indifference, and actually get through to him. Whenever it happened, it turned him bitter for at least the rest of the day. Though, the offer to teach him to play something sounded nice. Maybe he'll get back to her on that one. This is a Training Room, and we're here to train. Not much point in it if the things we are training against don't try to kill us. His voice was still bitter though.

The silent swamp was still eery though, but there was no way in hell that he was going to admit that just after he had said that it was supposed to be so. Stepping forward, he as well, suddenly felt something move beneath his legs.

Here it comes. he said, as the creature exploded from the mist. It was at least five meters tall with a serpent body below the vast and something that should have probably been a human torso with a woman's head. There was also a pair of wings at its shoulders, but they were entirely too small to be able to pull that huge body into the air.

Now, that sucks. There's no way I can fight that thing. he sighed, disappointed, as the creature shrieked.

Aurora was slowly beginning to understand why the school considered William something of a problem student. Angry, quick to react, and a sharp retort to an otherwise harmless joke. The mage shook her head and sighed, although refraining from the standard teacher's you have a lot to learn routine. Because frankly, so did she.

"If you prefer the killing, I'll be sure to try and beat you over the head with my drum set when or rather if we get to that kind of stuff."

Yes, she meant it in jest. Aurora had not actually harmed anyone in her class, although she had harmed plenty of people outside her class...albeit, not on these islands at anytime. Supernatural creatures without minds had had a slightly different fate however. Hell, she hadn't even killed that vampire that had slain Nakata. Zackary had done that in its finality.

And then something even creeper had emerged and exploded into existence in front of them. A serpent/human hybrid that was no less than 20 feet in height. Well, this was going to be fun, especially without the help of William.

"Well that's certainly creative, and come on, you've never wrestled a snake before?"

Aurora drew one of her sword hilts, which quickly expanded to reveal a retractable blade. Almost immediately after, the lady dashed forward, gun and sword in hand.

"Come on! It's fun!"

One shot at the eyes, and a slash across its throat. It probably wouldn't be that easy, but it would be amusing.

You do realise... William started to speak before he had to jump down into the smelly water to avoid the creature's tail ...that I have no weapon, right? he finished, completely covered in holographic water. Aurora was right, it did feel disgusting no matter how unreal he knew it was.

Getting up to his feet, he quickly stepped aside again, without falling this time, to avoid yet another swift motion of the long, serpent tail. Looking over the monster, he real couldn't find a way for himself to fight without getting seriously hurt. The scales covering every visible part of the creature's lower's body were as big as his head, and there really was no way for him to punch through them. The only result that would have was probably a broken wrist. No, no probably. Deffinitely.

Fuck! he cursed, irritated because of his defenselessness. Gritting his teeth, he tried to find something around him that he could use to fight. There was nothing.
And then he looked up.

This is crazy even for me. he muttered, before he suddenly jumped, not down, but up this time as the creatures tail came at him. He grabbed on it tightly, and started to climb.

There were no scales on the creature's upper body.

"You don't need a weapon!"

At this point, Aurora was laughing, and quite enjoying the experience of being tossed about and wrestling a holographic serpent of sorts. She didn't have to worry about killing anything in actuality, making the scenario the pair were dealing with all the more fun. Just to be safe, and to give William a bit more of an edge, Aurora drew one of her daggers and slammed it into one of the being's scales, doing no real damage, but planting it there should he need the blade.

"Hey now, the language isn't necessary. Grab the blade and the the head!"

Easier said than done. Despite her skill, Aurora was still quite small in stature and strength. Much of her ability relied on stealth, surprise and speed, factors that did not help much in her fight against the snake. William would have to do more of the heavy lifting on this one if she was going to refrain from using any more powerful magic.

She whistled loudly after jumping off, and shot a slug close to the creatures eye, and taunting it.

"Hey! You're slower than my grandmother! Can't you move any faster?"

I would like to see you... William yelled, breathing heavily, a mad look in his eyes as he grabbed tighter, moved closer, up, and up, without looking down ...bloody try to do it!, he screamed, grabbing the dagger from the gap in between the scales where Aurora has placed it, a stream of hot blood exploding from the wound immediately, burning his hand. A stream of courses followed immediately, so strong and so loud that it would make a glacier melt. Curse you to hell you stupid snake! he snarled, using the dagger as one would use spike when climbing the mountain, favouring his burned right hand to the left, but somehow, moving much faster than before.

You stupid a muttered curse piece of holographic another insult I will burn you to the ground! he screamed, as he draw the dagger into the serpents neck. The holographic creature started shrieking again, flapping his wings mindlessly, as he grabbed the dagger and stabbed the other side of the neck. The creature's hands reached for its neck, trying to grab William as well, but he was already somewhere else. He had in his mind, that was currently filled with blood lust, to try and cut the creature's wings off.

Hell yeah! he screamed, falling of, a holographic wing in tow. Finish it!
