Manta Carlos City was something rather unique as compared to any other city on Earth. Despite its relatively smaller size, Manta Carlos was the only place on the planet that had a significant portion of its population dedicated to the welfare of the supernatural populous. Of course, mages and other beings of all types inhabited the world, but no doubt the vast majority of them were centered in and around the island.
To keep their abilities sated, the world had helped build the school, and funded it to keep the supernatural from causing problems. It was a hugely discriminatory practice to be sure...but frankly, this wasn't quite as bad as past racism on the planet. Certain groups and individuals did, and still do pose a threat to each other, and the world was not quite ready for the whole superpower thing to get out and about.
Paradox was still a huge factor, even here. Aurora was fully aware of it.
The world was simply not ready.
But that didn't mean the supernaturals couldn't have any fun, or practice...in fact, quite the opposite. In recent days, the city had opened up a new training facility of sorts for the lot of the academy and surrounding areas to let off some steam, like any new piece of technology, Aurora had to try it; even if she didn't know quite what she was doing.
Aurora had arrived at the room with a duffel bag full of just about everything...staff in hand, hair done up in meatballs, and wearing less robes and more form-fitting clothing instead. The room itself was made up of something of a grid, no doubt holographic emitters and other assorted technical knick-knacks that Aurora was familiar with...to an extent. Trying to get it to work on the other hand was something a bit different. The mage stared at the panel, noticing several different options, but nothing really set in stone or intuitive. She was great with engineering...but computing was something she was lacking unfortunately.
"Level seven...what in the world..."
"Level seven active."
"Wait, what?"
Aurora's temporal sense kicked in, the spidey-sense like rote that activated whenever something was about to try and kill her. And try it did. A small drone appeared in the far corner with a rifle, and before it could get a shot off, she had whipped around with a P220 handgun, and shot the drone in the head.
"Terminate program!"
Her heart was racing. 120+ years of combat experience, but this was something a bit different...something Aurora wasn't quite used to.
"I seriously hope this is not what they meant by killer app."
Aurora sighed once. She was going to need someone who actually knew how to work this thing.
