When he could, Elias liked to stay away from large crowds of people. Typically, he could accomplish this. At school, you just needed to know which hallways to walk and which stairways to take. But there was one thing that always threw a wrench in his plans--lunchtime. Starlight Academy had hundreds of students, and this was the one time of the day when all of them gathered in one place. For some, it was a fun time to hang out with your friends. For Elias, it was a living hell. Typically, he found the table with the least amount of other people. Most of the time he ended up having to sit with one or two others.

But occasionally, Elias managed to come across a table with no one else sitting there. An oasis in this desert of teen angst. Occasionally, he would find that diamond in the rough, and then he would stake his claim. Today was one of those days.

The table in question was situated next to one of the many entrances to the cafeteria. A red flag, but Elias could look over it. He quickly got his lunch and rushed to the table. Luckily, by the time he got back to it, the table was still open. He let out a breath and took his seat. Taking his hair out of its confining ponytail, he began to eat his lunch in peace.

Adair walked into the lunch room, he had his tail wrapped around his waist like belt to keep people from stepping on it, his red hair was tied back into a ponytail. His golden eyes surveyed to area, trying to find a place to sit.

The gargoyle had quickly settled in at the accademy, being born with wings, a tail and horns meant you could get used to pretty much anything. He smiled as his eyes landed on what appeared to be a pretty girl sitting by herself.

He took the seat in front of them, "hope you don't mind, but I thought I'd join you I'm Adair MacBarrow and.......," he looked at her...only realize her...was a him.

Elias’s peace was soon shattered when someone else sat down across from him. He looked up to see a man with scales, wings, and horns. Elias wasn’t shocked by his appearance, there were a number of strange species that inhabited this island, although he was slightly intimidated. But this guy looked like the type to have lots of friends or score loads of girls, so why was he sitting here?

“Elias,” he replied. He didn’t know what exactly to say to this Adair fellow, who was apparently going to be joining him for lunch today for whatever reason. It was probably just a dare or something, in which case he might leave soon, but Elias couldn’t be sure. Adair seemed just as uncomfortable as Elias felt. In an attempt to alleviate some of the awkwardness, Elias raised up a spoonful of soup. “Cheers…” he muttered, but once the words left his lips he cringed. This probably wasn’t helping the situation.

Adair cocked his head and then laughed at his own stupidity, "we'll it's good to meet you, I'm new actually, hope you don't mind me joining you." He decided it was best not to tell him the mistake he made.

"Yes cheers," he turned to his food, taking a bite of the burger he had, he wasn't going to rub off just because he wasn't a girl. He seemed like an all right guy, and there would be other chances to flirt with cute girls.

"So, where are you from? I'm from Scotland. Ah to think, a month ago I was the weirdest thing I had ever seen, then I came here." He laughed at his joke, he had been raised by humans so it was odd being around fellow supernatural beings.

Adair laughed, and Elias hoped that it wasn’t directed at him. Adair revealed that he was new. New students came all the time, and each new arrival brought yet another opportunity for Elias to either make a good first impression or fail horribly. So far, Elias couldn’t tell whether this could be considered a fail or not. Adair looked unfazed by Elias’s interactions, which was probably a good thing. It gave Elias a bit of a confidence boost.

“Uh, actually, I was born here. On the island,” Elias clarified, “I mean, I grew up around all sorts of different people, so I guess I’ve kinda gotten used to it at this point.” His eyes trailed from Adair’s horns to his scales to the wings on his back. “Although I can see where you’re coming from. You’re definitely one of the weird ones!” Elias joked, laughing.
