'Oh, wow," Ven said.

He thought about that, trying to accomplish more than the person who came before you. He wondered what creator meant, then wondered if it'd be rude to ask this of his new friend. Ven always admired his father, but he often anticipated that his real challenge would be to do better than his mother.

Ven did laugh at Jophiel's silly expression.

"Thanks," he said. "I needed that."

Suddenly, Ven realized something. he jutted out his hand, which was holding his coffee, then switched the coffee to the other hand so his first hand was now free.

"I realized I don't know your name," Ven said. "My name is Thievenne, but my friends call me Moon Moon. Or Ven. But I like Moon Moon better.'

Jophiel shook Moon's hand and smiled brightly "Moon moon huh, I like it. My name is Jophiel...hmm I don't have a nickname. The spirits I usually encounter don't talk much." jophiel said shrugging with hands up "But I do know people have a small tale about me in folk lore, but its like real small. Ever heard of the tales of Zãnã?" he says

"Thanks," Ven said when Jophiel said he liked the name moon moon. He thought about explaining it but then said instead, "It's a long story."

If Ven were a wolf, his tail would have been wagging. As it was, his head tilted forward and his eyes lit up with interest.

"No!" he said. The enthusiasm was hard to hide from his voice. "Can you tell me the story?"

Jophiel smiled and sipped his tea to clear his throat...even though the story isn't that long since zana aren't as legendary as say a dragon.

"Ok so it goes a little like this. Long ago, deep within a forest, a child named Sideon lost his puppy into the dark woods. Determined to find his puppy he conjured his courage and went into the woods trying to find his puppy, but when he came to, his puppy was being eaten by a nasty looking troll beast. Sideon ran away from the beast deeper still into the woods being chased by this troll." jophiel used the campfire to make surprisingly good shadow puppets on a rock for moon to see "When sideon was able to hide in an abandoned library tree home, he cried for his mom and dad alone, but most of all for his dead puppy. But then the mysterious zana came, whose yours truly, came to the boy and said Dear sideon little child like me, why do you cry for your puppy? I have him here, please do not worry. He is safe with me. Then zana painted sideons puppy spirit into real life, and all 3 played together til came midnight. When sideon fell asleep zana carried him back home and left him the painting of puppy to always remember."

Jophiel smiled at the memory of sideon and his puppy, in truth sideon was very very injured that day because of the troll that took his puppy in the first place. Even though jophiel was able to reunite him with his puppy one last time, sideon soon died in bed cause during the time the doctors couldnt save him.

Jophiel smiled to moon even though inside the story kinda hurt to tell, but he love to share it all the same.

Ven listened intently through the entire story. He didn't bother to hide the emotions that came to his face: shock, fear, sadness, hope.

He had the impression, as he did with all stories, that the ending wasn't quite the end. But what Jophiel had given that boy in the story was a respite from terror and a memory of his puppy in the morning. And that, Ven thought, was a very kind thing to do. It made him like Jophiel even more.

"Thank you for sharing that with me," Ven said, though his voice sounded a little wistful now. Not quite sad, but thoughtful.

"Is...is that your power?" Ven asked. "Painting with shadows?"

Jophiel whipped out his brush and pretended to paint in the air, "My magic allows me to take any willing spirit and turn it into an art piece that comes to life." he lightly pokes moon's nose with the brush.

"Nothing permanent though and I can make them any bigger than 12 feet at least. Hehe but spirits are good company whether in my art form or just their regular spirit form." Doubley true for jophiel as hes spent most of his time growing up alone with spirits and a small time with his missing creator/father figure merlin.

Jophiel booped his nose with the paint brush and Ven grinned up at him.

"That sounds amazing," he said. Ven didn't exactly dislike his powers, but he had a hard time thinking of them as his powers instead of his condition.

He asked another question, curiosity getting the better of him.

"Would it...work on any kind of spirit?" he asked, and then, tilting his head, he said, "Would it work on me?"

"Hmm in theory it could, if your a demon or angel then it wont work at all. For the most part ive only used it on nature spirits, any other kind would have to make a temporary contract with me maybe...Wait why do you ask if itll work on you, are you a spirit?" jophiel looked at moon curious, he didn't think he was a spirit, he looks like a being of living flesh and bone.

"Well, I'm definitely not an angle or a demon," Ven laughed.

He thought about referencing a meme--I can be your angle or your devil bby--but the last few times he'd attempted to references internet culture on an island of supernatural creatures had not gone well.

Jophiel had been so open about talking about his own powers that Ven was a little bit guilty that he hesitated before explaining his own.

"Well, I'm not always a spirit, but sometimes my uh.." He tried to think of a word. "My soul or my spirit or whatever. it uh. It gets out of my body. And then poof!"

Ven snapped his fingers.

"My spirit shows up wherever it wants while my body is stuck right where I left it. I cannot tell you how many times it's gotten me into trouble," Ven laughed, taking a sip of his drink. "So i guess that's why I'm curious."

"Oooo like some out of body type thing, an astral body perhaps? Hehe I've never tried making an astral body into something...hmm its technically a spirit but I don't think it's like a spirit of nature that I usually find around the forests and such. Sorry but I don't think I can turn you into an art summon, moon." Jophiel said with a smile and a wave of his brush.

Jophiel wasn't exactly sure if an astral body might not work, he had never dealt with something like that in his travels, only read about it. But since it is night time and spirits are at their strongest in the night usually he wondered if maybe he could do it. If moon was willing then its possible.
