I Just Want To Be With You...

She was silent. That wasn't a good sign. She hates me, she despises me... maybe she was always just being nice when she was around me and never really liked me... or maybe she just likes me as a friend... maybe she... Nicolas shook his head, but the thoughts refused to leave his head. He slowly turned to look at Mery, believing that he was going to regret doing so.

"I...love you, too."

His golden eyes went wide. No... there was no way she had just said that... absolutely no way! But she had... she loved him... she loved him too! His face brightened quite a bit, and he looked at her, almost as if searching her face for lies. He found none, though. "You... you do? Really?" the boy asked, absolutely shocked, but more than happy right now.

Nicolas laughed quietly, his face turning a light shade of pink. "No, I suppose you wouldn't," the young man said. He smiled when Mery moved closer to him, and moved closer to her as well. He cautiously took her free hand, just holding it, hoping she wouldn't mind that he had done so. And if she did, then he hoped she would tell him so that he could apologize. He just looked at her, still smiling.

Nicolas continued smiling when she squeezed his hand. She didn't mind it, apparently. He was so happy right now... he was just so happy that she felt the same and that she didn't care that he was holding her hand. He didn't mind the silence, but he did want to talk to her. He enjoyed hearing her voice. "So..." he started off, his voice not as quiet as it was before. "What should we talk about?"

Nicolas's heart beat a little bit faster when she rested her head on his shoulder, and that smile left his face. "Let's see..." he said, looking up. "It's blue, with gray clouds... not exactly beautiful, but still nice to see."

Nicolas nodded his head. "Yeah, it is," he told her. "But it's hidden behind a cloud." He fought the urge to shiver, and even though it wasn't really that cold, he was. "Mery, is there anywhere else you want to go? Or do you want to stay here?" he asked her, just wondering.
