The sound of its voice quickly pulled her out of the trance, her fighting instincts quickly surfacing. Strings tried to push away but as soon as she realized she couldn't, she slid out the knife hidden under her sleeve, repeatedly sinking the knife to the "little boy"'s body as she attempted to slip from its grasp. The pull on her hair was painful but the alarm from hearing the sound of its voice and the sight of sinister face she'd caught at the corner of her eyes was enough to mute out the screams of her own nerves.
Only when she was able to break free did she roll away, making distance to gaze at the boy. Gone was its childish face, replaced with a manic smile, and eyes so dark she could barely see anything. A maddened cackle blubbled up from her, gazing back into an almost familiar smile that could split a face. She loved that face, she wouldn't lie there was no way in hell would she let it kill her. "Another island freak. Lucky me," she scoffed, calming for a moment to turn her face skyward. "The irony is killing me right now," she screamed to the sky.
She turned her face back to the creature, a lopsided smile left on her face as she pulled herself to her feet. "What are you supposed to be, little freak? You're awfully far from the Forbidden Forest."
