PERSONALITY

Yasmine is often referred to by her peers as a "princess", she is something of a narcissist who see's herself as superior to most of those around her. A more precise way of describing her would be a specist, she believes that the psionic race is the greatest of the mortal races. She has a habit of looking down on others who do not possess innate magical abilities with range and flexibility like her own. Her behaviors often inch into the range of bigotry, and she has been known to pull terrible pranks on those she thinks are lesser than her.

Despite her elitist exterior, she is capable of very deep love. Those she respects are seen as more than just worthy of her protection, but of kindness and reverence. She maintains close and private relationships with those few people she holds in high regard and takes pains to help those people. Unfortunately, she often has a materialistic view of how relationships should be held together and can, at times, be oblivious to the personal needs of others.

Yasmine can be crass at times, and is notably a purveyor of liquor, cigarettes, and strippers. She will sneak off to clubs in town, flash a fake ID, and enjoy her vices. She has a habit of swearing a lot when she speaks, as well as blending that with her own advanced vocabulary, to invent new and foul insults. Yasmine loves exotic pets, and browses shops when she can to find the most interesting creatures. She enjoys surrounding herself at school with boys and girls who happily cater to her whims, and avoids engaging with those who wish to draw the good in her out, as that usually involves confronting the fact that a great deal of what she does is wrong.

Even more secretly, Yasmine enjoys rigorous exercise, studying, and combat training.

APPEARANCE

Yasmine casts herself as the Academy's princess when she is at stchool. Blonde hair and slate gray eyes tied with perfect porcelain skin. She wears her hair in a ponytail and it is always drawn out and straight. When she is out on the town escaping her princess persona, she wears her hair a bit more loosely. Yasmine is in relatively decent shape with an athletic body and average height for a female human of her age. Her eyes are adorned with spots of fur called ollips, that completely surround her eyes (almost like spots around a panda's eyes).

Yasmine has three specific outfits. Her school uniform for one, which is the standard academy uniform. She also prefers to wear jeans, jackets and thick belts, when out on the town. When she is fighting she wears cargo pants, heavy boots and vests for protection and ease of carrying her favorite 'toys'.

SPECIES ABILITIES

Psion

Psions are an incredibly rare species that date back centuries. Unlike many species, they do not have a standard appearance save for the rings of fuzz around their eyes known as Ollips. Instead, Psions are a race that can interbreed with just about any other race. When a child is born of a psion and another species, it is almost always a psion. Some common crossbreeds include psionic orcs, psionic elves, and even psionic dwarves. Psions percieve sexuality and relationships differently from most others. Marriage is taken extremely seriously in their culture, and a psion may only marry once, even if their spouse dies. Instead, Psions form bonds with individuals they refer to as "kvatch" meaning "beloved" and often take many kvatch at a time, forming harems.

Psions trace their bloodlines by relation to a noble family. Each noble family has a specific discipline they are explicitly good at and each family has something called a "family burden".(more below)

The key trait of a psion is the ability to use psionics, which is basically another form of magic with severe drawbacks (see below). Which is the drawing of something called "ectoplasm" from the astral plane, the plane of dreams. With this, a psion is able to influence reality. Psions separate the techniques used in psionics into diciplines. These disciplines are called; Psychokinesis, the ability to maniuplate energy; Psychometabolism, the ability to manipulate living matter. Psychoportation, the ability to manipulate space; Clairsentience, the ability to see what normally cannot be seen; Metacreativity, the ability to create matter; and Telepathy, the ability to influence the mind. (Please see the POWERS section below for the extent of what Yasmine can or cannot do within the disciplines).

While all psions are able to access all of the disciplines, no psion is explicitly good at all of the disciplines. Also, psions constantly run the risk of bending reality too harshly, causing side effects on themselves and on others. These 'tears' can manifest in the form of explosions, storms, wounds, and even the violent warping of space. Psions must 'rest' periodically during a fight in order to prevent these tears from happening, they cannot constantly use their powers and advanced powers run the risk of causing a tear anyway in the hands of an inexperienced psion.

Psions also risk going wild. Each time a psion draws on energy from the astral plane, they draw against a maximum that their bodies can handle. Over time, a psion may build up this maximum, but if a psion dips into the "zero range" they can literally lose their minds for brief periods of time, becoming either catatonic or enraged. In the enraged state, they even risk dying outright from burnout, turning to ash.

Psions also have something called a "family burden" which is unique to the noble family they are most closely related to. The O'Haire family, for example, specializes in Psychokinetics and has the family burden of anger. O'Haire adults are expected to have mastered their sudden and violent flashes of mindless anger before they are considered to be fully developed.

POWERS

Psychokinesis The Manipulation of Energy

Yasmine has mastered the basics of Psychokinesis

Energy Blast - Yasmine can produce thin blasts of psionic energy, causing concussive damage and mild burns at medium range (up to 100 feet).

Manipulate Energy - Yasmine can manipulate simple forms of energy to a minor degree, heat, electricity, and kinetic energy can be mildly influenced. This includes slowing a target, generating heat enough to boil water or generating enough electricity to power a toaster.

Telekinesis - Yasmine can lift up to thirty pounds with her mind and move it freely up to 30 feet in any direction.

Energy Barrier Yasmine can produce a 1 foot by 1 foot screen of energy between herself and an oncoming attack to protect herself from most physical blows and some magical blows.

Psychometabolism The Manipulation of Organic Matter

Yasmine is currently a novice in the use of Psychometabolism

Regeneration - Yasmine can heal minor wounds more rapidly than an average person. She cannot cause severe wounds to begin healing at all.

Enhance Strength - Yasmine can temporarily increase her muscular strength, allowing her to jump twice as high as a normal person and hit twice as hard for a minute.

BACKGROUND

Yasmine O'Haire was born to Robert and Kristal O'Haire of the noble psionic famile O'Haire. She was born to inherit her father's position of Elder and become the most powerful member of her bloodline. However, there is a great deal of infighting among the noble psionic bloodlines. Most famous is the rivalry between the O'Haire and Hardy families. Hunter Hardy, elder of the Hardy family, had been putting a great deal of pressure on the Psychic Lord, the de facto leader of the Psionic People, to restrict the militant O'Haire family.

These growing restrictions, coupled with a sharp decline in both her mother's mental and physical health lead Kristal O'Haire to commit suicide three years after Yasmine was born. Yasmine developed a deep seated resentment toward her mother over this, perceiving it as abandoning her daughter to confront the harsh and unforgiving politics of her species with only her father to guide her. Her father, despite being the head of the family, was often at odds with his daughter given that she wanted to embrace the family's more 'tough as nails' nature.

This conflict between Yasmine and her father exploded one night when Shawn Hardy, the scion of the Hardy Family, was visiting as part of negotiations between the two warring clans. Shawn and Yasmine immediately resented one another and broke into a vicious argument. When her father intervened and asked them to stop, Yasmine instead struck Shawn with a blast of energy, the injured young man was rushed to the hospital and Yasmine was brought before the Psychic Council, which is comprised of several elders and the Psychic Lord himself.

Yasmine was charged with reckless and untrained use of her powers, and sanctions were put on her family. As part of her punishment, Yasmine was sentenced to study at the MC Academy as opposed to living with her kin and studying in the more traditional way. Her father saw the change as an opportunity to influence her outlook on others while Yasmine saw it as an opportunity to learn how to fight and increase her own social status without her father's constant nitpicking.

Now Yasmine attends the academy as a student, her powers are still severely underdeveloped because of the lack of teachers compatible with her unique gifts and she has been forced to learn on her own. She has recently begun studying how to use firearms and fight hand to hand while she maintains the cover of a wealthy aristocrat.
