How coincidental.

Cordelia's eye twitched. Unfortunately in school, she couldn't threaten to hurt the children. "It's not that hard. PICK UP THE PENCIL AND DO THE WORK!" Yelling at children most likely wasn't wise... oopsies.

She definitely had to see what kind of home life he had. Did his parents or guardian even care about him?

"It doesn't even matter." He said throwing the pencil away and resting his head on his desk. He did seem really tired during the day and the nurse sending him to an empty home wasn't really allowed either.

Catherine took this moment to exit the room and wait outside. It probably wasn't wise to stay and listen to their conversation.

She walked over to his desk and leaned down so she was eye to eye with him. "And why doesn't it? What, you think failing is going to get you somewhere in life?" She looked at him, wondering if he could even comprehend such a thing at his young age. "Start doing the work. I don't care if you're tired."

"I need an A in every subject to pass...I already ruined that." He said knowing he was going to fail. He techincally hadn't yet but the way he put it meant he had no chance.

"That doesn't give you the right to give up," Cordelia said to him. "That's weak. You still have time to get at least a C or a B, both of which are passing. I'll help you do it, too." She offered a small smile. There was no way she was going to let him fail the year just because he didn't want to. She would teach him and make sure he did the work. So she wasn't a second grade teacher, so what? She had been through second grade and passed it. She could help.

"I was already told my average was to low to pass unless I got an A." He said looking down not wanting to talk about him failing anymore. It only brought down his already dead spirit

Cordelia shook her head. "I'll fix that. Going from an F to a C is impressive enough and reason for you to be proud of yourself and others to be proud, and it's reason to pass." Whoever had told him that he couldn't pass unless he couldn't get an A was just plain crazy. And if that was the case, then she would help him to get an A. They didn't have much time, but it was possible, and she would make sure he brought that grade of his up.

"And if an A is a must, then you'll get an A. You can do it."[/color[ A smile of reassurance came to her face as she looked at him.

Cordelia didn't bother sighing. "You have to struggle. Life isn't pie, honey," she said to him. And it was the truth — life sucked, school sucked, but that was no reason to just do nothing and give up. She, of all people, would know that. "And it's ok to need help. It's not wrong to need help. You can't do everything on your own, it's impossible. And if you struggle through next year, you just get help, either from me or someone else. There's no shame in needing assistance."

"But I haven't done anything right...every subject is an F." He said now arguing that he was actually trying to push some of those up yet he couldn't do it at all...
