Name: Gwenaël Kerbellec
Age: 15
Birthday: 25th of February
Gender: Male
Species: Human/Margot la fée/changeling
Class: High School
Grade:9th Grade
Appearance Description: A tall and lanky teenager who just went through one of his first puberty growth spurt, and hasn't quite filled out his new body yet, making him look somewhat awkward. While he knows it's a bit of a stereotype, he still absolutely loves stripped sailor like shirts, and will wear them all the time if he can. Besides he is quite proud to be from Brittany and doesn't mind looking the part.
His face still look very childlike, all round; he miraculously avoided the plague of teenage years and doesn't have much pimples or acne in general. His hair tend to be a mess of dark curls. The one thing that stands out on his face are his big, round grey eyes.
Personality Description:
While he used to be a pretty happy and carefree child, his teenage years turned Gwenaël in a fairly anxious, overly self-conscious young man. He simply cannot help over-analysing everything that happens around him and is incredibly self-aware, making it quite crippling to him when he first tries to interact with other people. Like a lot of angsty teenagers, he's terrified of the way others look at him and does his best to stay unnoticed- that way he knows he won't be deemed uncool by his peers.
When he gets over his angst, he's actually a very pleasant young man; raised to be polite and helpful, he will do everything he can to be the perfect gentleman his mother wanted him to be. He's a real dork about anything sea related and loves to make puns, though sadly since his grasp of English is still a little poor, they may not really work.
His willingness to help and his fear of being deemed uncool by his fellow teenagers may play against him, as it would be fairly easy to get him to join in all sort of shenanigans.
He's also quite insecure about his abilities and easily embarrassed, which tends to push him in a vicious circle of vanishing-because-he's-embarrassed, then being-embarrassed-because-he-just-disappeared.
Powers:
Invisibility. Gwenaël vanishes entirely and cannot be seen whatsoever; his clothes are affected as well as him, and he may sometime make other things he's touching vanish with him. The longest he stayed invisible was 3 days.
Limitations: He doesn't know how to use it. His ability is brand new to him, and only responds to strong emotions, with a tendency to flare up when he's embarrassed. He generally vanishes completely when it happens. When he actually tries to use his power, nothing happens, or only small part of him vanish. He cannot control how long he's vanished either, which cause him quite a bit of trouble.
Knowledge: He doesn't have much, though he knows a few old folkloric tales that may actually apply to his situation. He wished he knew more, and he's here to learn.
Species Abilities:
He's pretty good at making things with his hands; the Fées Margots are famous for being builders, so it's likely his tie to them plays a role in his ability to craft things.
Biography: Gwenaël doesn't know much on his actual origins. All he knows are things his “mother” told him before shipping him off to the academy; most of it is conjecture and old women's tales, which he still somewhat have hardship accepting.
What they told him was as follow;
When his mother gave birth to him, he was an entirely different boy. It had happened sometime around when her birth child was a few months old; while Gwenaël looked very much like him, she knew it wasn't the same child. She raised him anyway, fully well knowing he was likely not her actual son but loving him nonetheless. As she had been raised with a family that still held onto the old tales, she knew better than to challenge it, as she suspected a fée Margot had exchanged her child with hers. Since the child she got wasn't showing any signs of evil, she simply kept him, while also keeping an eye on him. She'd figured having a child at all was better than getting a fairy angry, especially when said fairy could kill her actual child and take back her own.
In the meantime, Gwenaël lived a pretty nice life, since his mother was pretty loving; she hadn't really bothered telling him about the whole changeling thing.
A shy child, he had the utmost admiration for his grandpa who used to be a fisherman, and developed a strong love for the sea while living in his small village near the English Channel.
Not especially brilliant nor bad in school, his only good subjects were languages; he learned both the local dialect of Breton as well as French while pretty young, making him fluent in two languages- even though one of them wasn't especially useful. He also figured he might as well learn English early on, as his mother encouraged him to do so, making him somewhat good at speaking it.
His life really changed around when puberty hit him; coming with all the awkwardness of teenage year were a few incidents. As he became more and more self-conscious, his body started doing things on its own. Like vanishing completely in the middle of class when his teacher asked him a question he couldn't answer.
It was around then his mother actually told him of his possible origins, arguing it was likely his father wasn't any sort of fairy as it wasn't uncommon for this specific type to mate with humans- and because he'd grown up like a regular human child until now. After fairly tearful goodbyes with the woman who'd raised him and loved him like he really was her son, he'd ended up shipped off to the academy, where he intends on learning more about his current condition, and specifically learn a way to control the innoportune vanishing.
