Appearance Description:
A somewhat frail looking woman, who's bottom half is very much a jellyfish. Her skin is an odd shade of almost translucent pink ; her features are what most people would consider good looking, which comes naturally to mermaids like herself as they wish to lure innocent sailors in with their good looks to devour them. Lyne has pink hair she keeps relatively short so as to not have them get in her way when she moves around. Her bottom half starts somewhere around her torso, though her back mostly looks like human flesh ; it is made of an umbrella and many tentacles, once again in the same pink color. She's essentially naked all the time, even though her body makes it looks like she's wearing a sort of dress.
Due to her lack of legs and constant need of water, she mostly moves around on land in a sort of covered wheeled bathtube, her own version of a wheelchair pretty much. She always makes sure her tentacles stay tucked inside the bathtube, and has a little sign asking people to NOT put their hand in the water hanging off the side. Just in case.
She sometimes may look like she's shining in the dark ; it's caused by a mucus her species of jellyfish has.
Personality Description:
One of the few things she share with her people is an almost intolerable pride ; she thinks herself amazing, and has no problems showing it ; she often comes off as arrogant and condescending as a result.
Which doesn't mean she dislike people, quite the contrary ; she definitely is a pleasant, nice and caring individual. She just has very high standards for herself and expects others to meet them as well. The mermaid also has a certain fascination for foreign cultures, which to her are anything human or that doesn't come from the sea. Her curiosity led her to go on quite a few adventures in order to learn more, giving her a few interesting stories to tell. She's never against learning new things or going on a new adventure if offered ; she's very adventurous by nature and has an insatiable curiosity of the world around her. She also really like to spread her knowledge and will be more than delighted to talk endlessly about random facts she learned.
Powers:
Hypnosis : As a mermaid, she's an excellent singer. Her voice actually has an hypnotic ability, which her kind uses to lure humans in to drown them. When she sings, she can get people to come to her and generally do what she wants. However if they're strong willed or it makes them go against their beliefs, they can break out of her hold. It can only work on them if they hear her ; she also doesn't always have results on non-human species. People also build up immunity if she uses it on them more than once, making it less and less efficient the more it's used on the same individual. Her hold on individuals may last up to 10 minutes after she stopped her singing and during the entirity of whatever song it is she's singing.

-Underwater breathing : As a mermaid, she mostly lives underwater and as such is adapted to aquatic life. Which includes being able to breath underwater on top of on land.
-Venomous : Her tentacles are very much jellyfish tentacles, and as such are dangerous to touch. Their venoms mostly causes burns, pains and rashes, though they may also be more dangerous as it isn't uncommon for people to be allergic to them.
Biography: Lyne grew up in the mediteranean sea in a huge family of similar jellyfish mermaids ; a proud clan of like-minded individuals that generally hunted along the coast for humans to drown and devour, like the old traditions in the mermaid world, living carefreely with very little threats and predators to bother them. However that changed pretty quickly as technology evolved, making it harder for their kind to survive unscathed. Humans didn't especially like fish-people eating their kind after all.
While she was still a pretty young mermaid, a big change came in her area of the sea ; the two world wars, while mostly taking place on land, brought quite a few deaths amongst her kind with their submarines and other seamines. While the few survivors loathed the humans, she developed a sort of odd interest in them ; having seen they'd been victim of the wars just as much as her own kind had been, and having noticed just how evolved they were, she started to question quite a few things. It also made her loath violence of any kind, and gave her a fear of anything making sudden, loud noises.
Once she reached an age at which she could be considered an adult, sometime around the 1970's, she left her clan behind, became a sort of vegetarian as she swore off eating humans, and went on her way to study them, going on quite a few adventures around the world as she tried to know more on these creatures so similar to herself and yet so different.
Eventually though, she grew tired of the constant travels and felt like settling down ; She had gone by the manta carlos islands before and had heard of it since through other creatures, and simply decided to settle there for the time being. It was then she discovered her one true love, better known as 'academic studies'. After spending quite a few years in the local university learning all she could on music, humans in general by interracting with them, and validating her knowledge of the sea by getting a marine biology degree, she decided to share said knowledge by becoming a teacher herself.

Additional Information:
- She cannot be dry, as her body is made mostly of water ; if she's out of water for too long, she will shrivel and die.
- She swore off eating humans and didn't have any to eat since the 70's.
- She's considered quite odd in her old clan, and they haven't been in contact much since her departure ; they're just not on the same wavelength and cannot understand each others anymore.
- She always carries a sort of first aid kit to help relieve the pain in case she stings someone.
- She kind of wants to be a parent but reproduction is a tad bit complicated for her as she's discovered she was into human ladies. Which is why she remodeled her house so it wouldn't be completely underwater, in order to be more non-sea-creatures-friendly as she signed up to be a foster parent.
