Name: Margaret May
Age: 22
Birthday: 16th of August
Gender:Female
Species:Human
Career: Cook with a speciality in desserts.
Appearance Description:
Margaret is a small, slightly chubby woman. Since she doesn't like going out much, her skin tends to be pretty pale all year long. She has a round face with a small, slightly upturned nose; She wears fairly plain, rectangular glasses over round hazel eyes. Since she doesn't take care of herself very well, her lips are often chapped and her skin isn't always the smoothest. All of this is framed by long, blond hair. She either let them loose or wear them up in a tight bun when cooking. Her clothes tend to be comfortable before all, and not always very fashionable- nor are they season-appropriate most of the time, as she seems to be perpetually wearing things suited for autumn/spring. It wouldn't be unusual to see her wearing a long flowing dress with curtain-like flower patterns in the middle of winter.
Personality Description:
Put simply, Margaret is a bit strange.
She lacks confidence when it comes to social interactions and may be a little awkward, as she's a bit selfish and may overlook what other people need or want. She also tends to get lost in her own thoughts often, making her a fairly quiet, sometimes odd looking lady as she will gaze off into space before muttering to herself about whatever it is she was thinking about.
She is honestly lazy and would probably just live off benefits if she didn't have her passion for cooking and baking; she figured she might as well make it her job. She's incredibly easy to get along with, once you get to know her, as she does her best to be pleasant and polite; just overlook her laziness and tendency to not really care much about stuff. It's both a good and a bad thing; she'll probably forget you told her something, but she also can't be bothered to hold grudges and lets a lot of things go. She will often go along with whatever you offer, as it'd take too much efforts to come up with an alternative. Same goes for arguments; they're annoying, so she'd rather agree with whatever it is you say just to make you stop.
She has an odd, deadpan sense of humour that may not always be understood, which coupled with her usual attitude may make her sound like her mind isn't all there. She generally just does things her own way and live fairly happily doing things at her own pace. She'll be fine as long as she gets to enjoy life and take it easy like she's been doing so far.
Powers:
Thermokinesis: She has the ability to regulate the temperature of things around her. She generally uses it for selfish reasons or for domestic uses.
She mostly uses it to regulate the air temperature directly around her to keep cool in the summer and warm in the winter, saving up money on heating that way.
She also uses it to make sure the content of her ovens/pans are at the perfect temperature for her cooking to be done just right, and to keep things from burning in the kitchen.
She can cool or warm up items, making it easy to cool a cup of water as an example.
Limits: Her range of action is of five meters away from herself at most, and that often takes too much effort for her to bother. She cannot control the temperature in an area bigger than 1m3. She can only modify existing temperature in a certain range; she can add or remove up to 15°C at most. She usually has to touch something to really affect it; the further away from her her target is, the less effective her powers are.
She'd be entirely useless in combat, nor would she even take part in combat to begin with.
Knowledge: It's all pretty instinctive stuff, she just does it. She has little to no knowledge of how or why it happens, nor does she really care.
She probably could do more with this, but can't be bothered to try and find out what. It'd be too troublesome to study it too.
Species Abilities:
-While it doesn't normally count as a special ability, she's a good cook, and is proud of it enough to call it her own “special ability”.
-Since her power is related to heat, she tends to be pretty good at predicting if the weather will be good or not, as she has a more acute understanding of temperature drops/raises, and feel them better than other people might.
Biography:
Margaret's life is actually a pretty average one to begin with. Born to nice normal human parents, she was raised an only child with everything she needed. Her parents both worked hard to give her a good life, though her own laziness prevented her from realising their big dreams of seeing her become a doctor or a lawyer.
She discovered her ability pretty late in life, around when she was seventeen; since they weren't especially extravagant either, she didn't talk about it and just experimented to see what she could do on her own. Of course, that only lasted for a few weeks before she got bored with the idea, and she hasn't especially tried to see what else she could do since.
Fearing talking about it all would get her in all sort of troublesome, annoying situations, she simply kept it hidden until her majority. Her simple, boring life suited her well enough, she didn't want to become some sort of government experiment or join a school for wizards or whatever things she'd seen in popular media.
Once she finished high school, she felt this odd thing she could do was probably some sort of gift; one that could keep her from going to college, probably, as college sounded like a very annoying thing to go through for someone who, like her, didn't like school much. Everything would be a better alternative than college to her at this point, as it probably would involve less efforts.
Which was exactly how she ended up going to the local city hall, asking if there was any sort of program for people like her; after narrowly avoiding time at the police station/asylum (as people had first assumed it was a stupid prank, then after she kept on insisting with her “I can control the temperature!” nonsense, had ended up thinking she wasn't exactly sane), she got to join the other creatures that live on the Manta Carlos Islands.
Once there, she lived off her parent's money for a small while before taking classes and earning a diploma that recognized her talents for cooking and baking; it was during that time she discovered her talents for heat manipulation were very, very useful to make dishes. This, coupled with her passion for food, made her a surprisingly good cook. She currently is just cruising through life at her own pace, doing whatever she wants.
Additional Information:
-She doesn't know much at all on anything magic/not human, so she may asks questions that could offend creatures/mages/anyone who isn't a regular human.
-She has no explanation as to why or how she got her talent, nor does she care, so it's likely there never will be one.
-She actually doesn't care about a lot of stuff, including who she dates, making her pansexual.
-She's surprisingly open-minded. As long as it doesn't affect her directly, she just shrugs things off.
-She doesn't really smile a lot, and her smile looks pretty odd/creepy; she's genuinely happy with her life though. She just doesn't have the kind of face that shows it.
-She's often tired, which is directly related to her use of her power; however she hasn't connected the dots yet, and keeps on using it whenever she wants for however long she wants.
