Appearance Description:
Facial Features
Angular without being overly sharp, Glockenspiel has well-defined features with high cheekbones and a strong jawline leading to pointed ears. Small horn-like protrusions jut upwards from the sides of their forehead, three on each side.
Eyes
Glalni sport five eyes and Glockenspiel is no exception. They have two sets of eyes in the general space a human would have their singular set, as well as one eye in the center of their forehead. Their sclera is a darker sky blue while the iris is a lighter ice blue, their pupil is white.
Complexion
Their skin is a dark, tannish red-orange, resembling terracotta clay and is exceedingly smooth to the touch. They do not appear to have any body hair at all besides what is on their head and their tail.
Hair & tail
They wear their hair long, long enough to reach past their rump, and often leave it loose with only a few accent braids. Their tail is also lengthy as well, to the point that they have to braid it to keep it from dragging along the floor or ground. It resembles a horse's tail in the way it extends from above their rear. Both their hair and tail are a stark white, contrasting with their dark skin.
Height
Many would consider Glockenspiel to be a giant, seeing as they tower at 8'10", but their height is really in the median range for their species.
Build & structure
Given their height, the best way to describe Glockenspiel is willowy. Long legs, long arms, long torso, long neck — everything about them seems to be elongated. They are also extremely slender and lithe, and the only thing that keeps them from looking emaciated is the slim layer of lean, tight muscle that covers their body. Even still, the sharp angles of their ribcage and hips are still noticeable albeit not in a sickly manner. They have four fingers which are tipped with long, pointed nails/claws that match the color of their skin. Their long legs are digitigrade in nature, culminating in five-toed feet.
Astral Limbs
For those who can see or read auras, Glockenspiel has a second set of arms in a form that matches their physical ones. They are ethereal and transparent and match the color of their aura, most commonly blue.
Anatomy
Indeterminate, though small a-cup breasts may make people inclined to view them as female.
Fashion
They prefer loose, airy clothing made out of soft, gauzy fabric with some translucency. This most often manifests in loose harem-style pants or loincloths paired with halter or bikini-styled tops. They are also quite fond of jewelry, which commonly adorn their many limbs in varying styles. Their finger and toenails are often painted and color-coordinated with their clothing.

Personality Description:
Gentle Giant
To say that Glockenspiel is a pacifist is something of an understatement. Truly, they go out of their way to make sure they do not harm others, to the point that they are extremely hesitant to raise their hand at anyone, even in self-defense.
Moralistic
They endeavor to do the right thing, even if that might be inconvenient for them. E.g., they try to limit their customer base who won't use their soul gems for nefarious purposes, they are very delicate in their feeding practices so they do not harm anyone.
Knowledge Seeker
Glockenspiel has a voracious appetite for learning. They are consistently fascinated by other lifeforms, objects, magicks — you name it, they have a certain curiosity for it, and dedicate a lot of their time to research and understanding.
Patient
They seem to exude a spectacular sort of patience in dealing with people and are also resistant to reacting to brattiness or antagonistic behavior. They excel at not giving rowdy types the attention which encourages them.
Creatively Inclined
They love art, they love working with their hands, they love expressing themself in creative medium — one might say they are quite 'right brain' heavy.
Pack Rat / Hoarder
Glockenspiel is rather sentimental and has the tendency to hold onto things even if they have no value or use.
Melancholic
Despite their best efforts, they can easily slip into a melancholic fog and/or be affected by a certain ennui.

Powers:
Scrimshander
Glockenspiel is an artist who carves designs into the bones or ivory of various mammals. The finished products can range from art pieces to jewelry to weapon hilts and beyond.
Soul Manipulation
Glockenspiel is capable of manipulating soul energy to the extent that they can locate it and place it within secure containers. Instead of branching out into how to harness soul energy, or the uses of it, they have become highly specialized in the art of making soul gems and phylacteries.
Soul Gems
Soul gems are magical containers that hold a creature's soul — generally understood to be the lifeforce that allows a creature to exist and gives them autonomy. The use for these items vary, but some examples follow. Magic users can use them to power spells, to grant sentience to automatons, or to raise the dead. The use and limits of soul gems are highly dependant upon the person tapping into their power; a soul gem will not allow a novice magic user to cast more advanced spells.

Species Abilities:
Telepathic
Glalni are born without vocal cords so they are incapable of speech. Instead, they rely on telepathy to communicate. This telepathy is one-way, in the sense that they send phrases/thoughts to an intended target. They cannot read minds. Glockenspiel's telekinetic voice has a metallic, bell-esque tone to it.
Psychic Vampire
Unlike many creatures who rely on food to sustain themselves, the Glalni consume the emotional energy of others. This is done by 'drinking' in another creature's aura and generally leaves victim/donor feeling somewhat apathetic or aloof. If too much energy is taken, it can damage the victim/donor's ability to experience emotion, leaving them stunted. Different emotions are rumored to have different flavors.
Aura Reading
In general, Glalni are extremely sensitive to the auras of other living creatures as well as to magical objects. It is not an ability they can really turn off and so seeing auras are just a regular part of the way their sight functions.
Astral Limbs
Glockenspiel, like other Glalni, has a second pair of arms. These arms are extensions of their aura and thus are primarily used for manipulating magical items, auras, or soul energy. They cannot be used to interact with physical objects or individuals. If they try to touch something physical, like a person, with their astral limbs, the limbs will simply pass through the individual, causing a strange, tingling sensation.

Biography:
Lalani IV
○ Even in the beginning, their existence was filled with a copious amount of familiarity. From their youngest years they were able to map out their clan's cave, surrounded by the brothers, sisters and siblings of their community. There was so much sameness, and there was safety in it. What was common was comforting, but slowly amassed a certain sense of boredom. As time passed, a curiosity about others and what lay outside their stony home unfurled and grew.
○ The routine of listening to their clans' elders and matriarch was finally broken when they were allowed to join the tradesmen topside for a glimpse of what was above. Glockenspiel had heard stories from their siblings and relatives of the great deserts and the Skalich — the reptilian species that inhabited it — but the tales did nothing to prepare them for an actual meeting. They were smitten almost immediately.

Intergalactic Space
○ Leaving behind their clan was hard, but in the end, worth it. Joining the crew of a Skalich tradeship, they finally found themself laden with excitement for life. There was so much to see and learn...And they had to learn quick. Their acceptance onto the vessel was allowed with the expectation that they would contribute and earn their bunk. Glockenspiel tried their hand at a lot of things — ship repair, medbay assistant, gunner. Nothing really felt right until they found themselves lurking among the ship's artists. Watching them work intrigued the Glalni, and Glockenspiel found themself drawn to the activities.
○ This attraction caused them to cross paths with Detlef, a Skalich who was particularly interested in old Earth culture. He had picked up the old artform of scrimshaw, having found a niche market for the handcrafted items. Glockenspiel was fascinated. It took them a while, but eventually a telepathic nudge to the Skalich was made, and a conversation struck. Friendship followed, which soon blossomed into an apprenticeship.
○ Whether it was due to some innate artistic talent, or the unique edge lent to the Glalni with their extra pair of hands allowing them to turn their artwork into phylacteries, Glockenspiel excelled at scrimshaw under Detlef's tutelage. They created a solid partnership that brought them both economic and social success.
○ This success landed them in the spotlight, and not in a good way. Their trading vessel was soon targeted by pirates, greedy for the currency and goods in their cargo.
○ Everything happened too quickly — the ship shuddered as it was dragged out of hyperspace, hull creaking in complaint. Before Glockenspiel could react or lend a hand anywhere, Detlef was ushering them to an escape pod. All their protests were ignored, Detlef brushing them off with a gruff get out of here. There was no time for goodbyes.
○ They were left to drift in their lifeboat, helpless to watch as the trade vessel was boarded and ransacked. Unable to do anything. Eventually, they succumbed to unconsciousness due to lack of sustenance.

Starlight Observation Station
○ When they awake, it is on the Starlight Observation Station. Their lifeboat had been found by scouts and they were subsequently brought back to the station for medical attention. The environment is foreign and thus scary to the Glalni, and they become more distressed upon realizing no one knows what happened to their ship or, more importantly, to Detlef.
○ They enter a depressive haze, only reactive enough to keep themself alive. It takes them a long time to recover from their loss, and, not wanting to return to their home planet, but uncertain of where else to go, they decide to stay and explore the station as well as Manta Carlos...Slowly finding things to occupy themself with.
