Appearance Description:
○ Facial Features
Emilie is gifted with a youthful face of indeterminate gender, which gives her quite an androgynous cast. Her eyes are bicolored: the right is brown, the left is blue.
○ Height
In life Emilie was a late bloomer and she died before puberty could fully boost her height. Thus she is rather diminutive, barely reaching an inch over five foot.
○ Hair
She wears her reddish-brown hair long, her bangs styled in a hime cut. Often she wears her hair down, though she is sometimes seen in braids or pigtails.
○ Build
Generally, Emilie appears as if a stiff breeze could knock her over. She is rather waifish with small shoulders and a slender waistline.
○ Fashion
Emilie gravitates to feminine things that allow for full body coverage. Long-sleeved blouses, knee-length skirts paired with stockings, cardigans, etc. — anything that will let her cover up is preferred.
○ Scars and stitches
Although mostly concealed by her clothing, Emilie is covered in — and held together by — stitches. They can be found in the following locations: circling all of her major joints (ankles, knees, hips, wrists, elbows, shoulders, neck), her mid section, a 'Y' over her chest/sternum, from mid-check to the corners of her mouth.

Personality Description:
○ Withdrawn
Emilie isn't one to wear her heart on her sleeve. In fact, the opposite is true. She conceals her feelings behind a well-practiced poker face — being emotional in front of others makes her feel vulnerable and is a source of frustration.
○ Cynical
Dying killed any optimism that she had. Now, she's weary of anything and everything — everyone has ulterior motives, everything has a catch, if things are going well then everything'll crash and burn soon.
○ Touch aversion
Physical contact is a huge no-no for Emilie. Frankly, it frightens her, and it's a great way to get on her bad list.
○ Adaptable
Despite the trauma she's endured, she's a survivor. She figures out how to make it through things even when she's stuck in a downward spiral of emotion.
○ Curious
Seeing as she's already dead, there's no harm in being curious anymore — she's got nothing to lose.
○ Child-at-heart
Although it is hidden deep, behind many layers of cynicism, Emilie is a kid at heart. She delights in playing dress up and make believe. Will she ever admit this? Doubtful.

Powers: Beyond the state of her existence, Emilie has no unique gifts.
Species Abilities:
○ Immortal
As a reanimated corpse, Emilie doesn't have to worry about such pesky things as eating/drinking or sleeping. Nor does she have to worry about injury, sickness or death. Unfortunately this also means that she is awake all day, every day, forever--which can generally lead to apathy and ennui.
Given that she was dismembered when she was killed, she is held together by stitches all across her body. The forces that keep her reanimated only work when her body parts are attached to her in some fashion with stitches or other binding agents — e.g. if one of her arms falls off, it cannot operate independently and will essentially resemble a dead, amputated limb until it is reattached to her body.
While she is resistant to rotting, she does have to bathe often to keep herself smelling fresh.

Biography:
[trigger warnings: murder/trauma, sexual abuse mentioned/implied in the history]
American Midwest, c. ~1940s-50s
○ She is born as Aidan Haynes to a happy couple, eager to welcome their son into the world. Her parents are doting and caring during her formative years.
○ As she grows, her father notices that she isn’t aging into the strapping young lad he wanted her to be. She is coerced into various ‘boy’ activities such as sports and boy scouts, often causing lots of strife and arguments between her and her parents.
○ Her teenage years see her become more and more distant from her family, spending increasing amounts of time at school or her scant few friends’ houses to get away from the pressure of her parents.
○ While killing time at a nearby park, procrastinating on going home, she is approached by an older man. His name is William. He is soft-spoken and understanding, everything her father is not. They talk for a while, and for the first time in her life she feels like she’s being listened to by an authority figure.
○ She starts meeting William at the park regularly and they develop a friendship. William is charming and makes her feel safe, she is drawn to him.
○ Gradually, she starts to fall in love with William — or, at least, thinks she does. William is quick to capitalize on this, confessing that he has admired her for a while.
○ They start meeting at William’s house. He encourages her to express her feminine side, and starts calling her ‘Addy’ fondly. She feels like herself when she’s putting on dresses in front of his mirror.
○ Naive and impressionable, she gives her body and heart to William and falls deeper into his clutches. She starts ditching school to stay at his house.
○ She is caught by her parents when she returns home to retrieve some personal items. A heated argument ensues and she barely makes it out the window, her father shouting into the dark night about calling the police.
○ When she returns to William’s house an emotional wreck, she throws herself into William’s arms, expecting to be comforted. At first, he is gentle and soothing...
○ However, as the week goes on, something in William cracks. He becomes increasingly paranoid about police finding their lovenest and in a fit of ‘if I can’t have you, no one can’, he does the unthinkable.
○ Her death is slow and gruesome, and though the shock and blood loss causes her to pass out sooner rather than later, the trauma is undeniable.
○ William dumps her fragmented corpse in a secluded area and flees into the night.
Location Unknown, date unknown
○ She is pulled out of the abyss by means unknown and awakes, gasping and disorientated on a surgeon’s table. The blurry image of the individual looming over her is unfamiliar. The memory of her last moments set in and she panics.
○ Shakily, she wobbles off the table and grabs the nearest object — a drip stand or something similar — and swings it at the unknown person. It buys her enough time to stumble blearily out of the building. Moving too fast and in too much of a blind panic to notate details or ask questions.
○ She wanders the wilderness aimlessly, gradually piecing together her existence until she’s found by one of the academy’s scouts and ushered off to Manta Carlos.
Starlight Academy, c. present day
○ She settles into life at the school and chooses a new name for herself to distance herself from her path. She finishes up her high school education and promptly enrolls in college. Despite having a safe place to stay and something to do, she still feels out of place and on-edge.
