Vito Rosales
Every active community volunteer knew that Founder's Day was one of the biggest holidays in the island. It was the island's birthday, the day the islanders celebrate the founding of Manta Carlos Islands. Streets held block parties. There was music, fireworks, food, and all around merry-making.
From a management perspective, it was an utter disaster. In between the gang and Founder's Day, he was up the wall with work. He had to put out fires everyday. It seemed like there was a new disaster every hour. We can't find the budget! The catering service canceled on us! Our singer won't make it in time for the show!
But by god's grace, he pulled it off. All the streets were accounted for. The fireworks were ready to be set off in a couple of hours, and short of going to the Pier yourself, City Hall had the best seats in the house. Cecil Lovette was performing on-stage until the fireworks went off, the buffet table was packed, he had committees around to prevent any disasters, and the room was filled to the brim with happy faces. Vito took a sip from his cup at the side, smiling proudly at his work. Another job well done.
