The forbidden forest was it's normal self, large and imposing. Large beasts could be heard stomping around deeper in the forest, birds chirping through the trees, and leaves were rustling. All in all it was a normal day in the forbidden forest.

Well, it would be if it weren't for one thing. A large patch of Razorthistle Blossoms. One of the flowers that could be found in the forest, known for their tendency to release a very deadly poison if they get injured in any way. These weren't that uncommon around this area of the forest, but the reason this was strange was the small child laying in the middle of the ring of plants. Obviously very young, the white-haired child appeared to be sleeping, his chest raising and lowering slowly. He appeared to be fine, but if he rolled over he could damage the flowers...

Amphy stretched his arms over his head, pulling, pulling, pulling until his muscles were perfectly taunt and then releasing, feeling his whole body fill with warmth from just stretching out his muscles. He'd taken care of all the animals in the forest that needed his help, the flowers in the east were doing much better, and the southernmost part had been properly cordoned off while he dealt with the recent addition of yet another shallow grave.

Really people? Really.

But for the moment, he was ready to head back to his little cottage, make himself a cup of tea, nap for a while, just relax--

Until he saw a child in the middle of several potentially very deadly flowers and he could feel himself starting to hyperventilate oh god oh god.

It was normal for children to wander into the forest, but god how did he get so far in? Where did he come from? Where were his parents? How did he get into those blossoms?? Oh, oh god. He was ready to faint.

He walked towards the child and reached out to them, careful of the flowers, to awaken him. "Little one?"

Yikmos eyes cracked open and met Amphy's for a few seconds. His eyes were a bright forest green, full of child-like innocence and confusion. That brief moment felt like hours of silence, but was really only a small window of time. Just three seconds. Yikmo's eyes slid closed and his body went limp again.

The flowers seemed to wither back into the ground, ungrowing. That was all that could describe what happened to the flowers, Ungrowing. They shrank, receding into the ground. Soon, Yikmo laid in the grass in front of Amphy, no deadly flowers around anymore. It would be simple now, to pick the small boy up.

Amphy simply watched this as the boy looked at him, hoping against hope that the child wasn't about to roll over and hurt himself. When the little one's eyes slid closed and he went back to sleep without even answering him, the faun thought that he was going to have to beseech the forest for some form of assistance.

That is, until the flowers seem to.... ungrow.

As odd a word as that was, it was the only word he could think of to describe what was happening. The flowers were retreating into the ground as if they were being reabsorbed. It was.... disturbing.

Once the surrounding blossoms were gone, Amphy grabbed the child and carried him back to his cottage. He would definitely have a lot of explaining to do!

Yikmo remained sleeping as Amphy picked him up. He was incredibly light, having a thin frame. His hair was dirty, and he obviously needed a bath and a haircut.

Subconsciously, the small boy curled into Amphy's frame, cuddling against his chest for warmth. He remained sleeping even as Amphy carried him through the forest back to his cottage. The greenery around the cottage seemed a tad healthier when Yikmo entered the premises. His skin was pale, and his cheeks were thin. It obvious he hadn't had a good meal for a while.

Once Amphy had gotten Yikmo back into the cottage, the boys eyes slowly cracked open again, the small boy looking around with his large green orbs, curious. His gaze finally settled on Amphy, staring at the other male silently.

As Amphios walked through the brush he knew so well towards his house, he instead decided to look over the child's features, thinking that maybe if he could find some kind of outstanding feature it would help him understand where the child could have come from. That being said, all the faun could understand from looking at him was that the child was in desperate need of a warm meal and a hot bath.

He set the child down and started preparing a meal, peeling potatoes and chopping them into the stew, along with some chunks of fish he'd cooked up the day prior and was keeping preserved.

The faun looked over to Yikmo to see the extent of his dirtiness and jumped when he saw the eyes on him.

"Uh," he said. "......hello little one! My name is Amphy. What's your name?"

Yikmo said nothing, just continuing to stare at Amphios. He pointed at the block letters on his jacket, right above his heart. Not that you could tell he was pointing, since the sleeve covered his hand.

Yikmo continued to stare into Amphys eyes, his big green orbs full of innocence and curiosity. The small boy let his eyes slide down, looking at Amphy's deer features. The boy's face didn't change, still curious. He yawned, but no sound left his mouth.

Then he waved hello to Amphy, a small smile forming on the child's face.

Amphios squinted as Yikmo pointed to the letters on his jacket. He leaned in to read the letters that said--

"Yikmo?" He asked questioningly. The faun supposed that made sense--if he was wearing a jacket it made sense that the jacket would have his name on it. He couldn't help but notice when he opened his mouth no sound came out. Maybe he was just a silent yawner? Or maybe....

The faun returned the wave and poured the tasty stew into a bowl before presenting it to the small child.

"Can you speak, little one?"

Yikmo nodded and smiled when Amphios said his name. He gave a thumbs up, and then took the bowl of stew from Amphy, sniffing at it curiously. The boy looked up at Amphios before going back to the stew. He pressed his hand into it, and then started licking his fingers to get the stew.

He smiled happily, and started quickly dipping his hand into the bowl to scoop stew into his mouth. He shook his head at Amphy's question, looking up from his bowl for a moment.

That's..... hm. That's definitely not how he would attempt to eat a bowl of stew, but who was he to try to stifle the creativity of a child?

(Did eating with one's hands count as creativity? For some reason he was feeling like it definitely didn't.)

Amphy made himself comfortable on a simple chair made to comfortably seat his deer anatomy, bringing the bowl to his lips and pouring it in, chewing on the potatoes and small herbs and meat pieces. The faun tilted his head. He couldn't speak, but it seemed like.... he could read, to some extent?

Was he mute?

If not.... oh my....

"Do you know where your parents are, Yikmo?"
