The sunlight from the low western horizon showered the room with orange, as Dominik circled his student like a predator about to strike at his prey. His eyes were slightly annoyed, slightly concerned, but they weren't on her, rather they were on the class record in his hands, which was opened to the page where his student's name and attendance record was.
Blank areas meant a student was absent for one period. And she had so many blank areas on her record.
"I don't like what I'm seeing here," he said, tapping on the paper. It was the very reason he had called this student here to his office, because he didn't like her lack of presence, and he wanted to have a one-on-one talk with her about it. "To be honest, it wouldn't hurt me not to care about this lousy attendance of yours but... I happen to like teaching." Dominik's deep red eyes now trailed towards her dark ones, stared at her, though he didn't mean this to be personal. "I'm alarmed. And I at least want to know why you're always absent. Give me a valid reason, and I'll let you off. If you don't," he shrugged, "We'll have to work on that."
This was a strange setting somehow. Dominik was young, and they looked almost at the same age, but he was a teacher and he had to be more adult than her here. His words were strict and solid, despite the natural smoothness and sweetness of his voice.
