Headline: Declined of Magic confirmed by MC government. Supernatural expected to disappear by 2220.

Story: Experts in the field of magic have confirmed that the supernatural is weakening over time, due to the lack of belief by most of the Earth’s population. After 200 years, all supernatural beings will have either become ordinary humans, or will disappear from the earth entirely.

This phenomenon, originally known as the Death of Magic Theory, was discovered by Professor Tern of Dark Crystal Academy, which was recently returned to existence due to the efforts of many concerned citizens. Tern’s proposed solution to the decline, shattering the Veil of Secrecy in a public terrorist attack, lead to the removal of himself and the entire academy by an entity intending to stop him.

The entity, referred to by Tern as The Veil, seemingly named after the Veil of Secrecy, has since disappeared after restoring the DCA. It’s unclear currently what it intends to do.

The discovery of the decline has also lead to the growth of Anti-Veil sentiments among the island's population. The government has not commented on this at the time of publication.

Headline: Dark Crystal Academy Students and Staff Unfreezing
Story: In a hastily held press conference earlier today, a representative of the Starlight Academy Scouts confirmed what many have been reporting already: those who were frozen when Dark Crystal Academy was subjected to what has been called the "Pause" are beginning to unfreeze.

These individuals are being processed by a joint effort between the Scouts and the Manta Carlos Police Department. They are, as of now, being treated under standard refugee codes for mass new arrivals. Those involved with the plot to overthrow the Veil of Secrecy before the Pause are being detained pending further investigation.

Likewise, the Pause itself was not actually a freezing, but the result of Dark Crystal Academy being pulled out of reality altogether by the Veil entity.

The Veil entity has still not surfaced since its initial release, though the police are investigating their whereabouts as a person of interest in the Dark Crystal Academy case.

As more is discovered, more information will be brought to light.

Headline: Unexplained Magical Surge Documented
Story: Several professors of magical theory at Starlight Academy have expressed concern over recent energy surges recorded on the island. The surges are believed to have started late last month and are being closely monitored by researchers both on and off island. At the current moment, the surges are believed to be localized to the island, but are not believed to be actively harmful.

Residents of the island might notice a slight increase in the strength or range of their powers, and are encouraged to be on the lookout for any other unexplained effects. Any unexpected effects experienced should be reported directly to Starlight Academy's Magical Theory department for further study.

Headline: Local Confectioner Capitalizes on Candy Conundrum
Story: Sue Cross, owner of the sweets shop Gumdrops and Ganache, has begun advertising for jelly beans that change flavors in your mouth as you chew on them. They're becoming all the rage among youngsters and older citizens alike. Mrs. Cross claims she is not making the tasty morsels differently than before but somehow they are coming out with changing flavors instead of randomly selected ones. Whatever the recipe though they are selling fast and lines are out the door.

Headline: Island Authorities Announce Resolution of Charm Failure
Story: While early reports placed hope in the possibility of reversing the ongoing effects of Charm Failure, that solution seems less likely as authorities have today decided to announce an exchange program to take immediate effect. Newly created charms are believed immune to the effect causing old charm failure, but are significantly more costly to make and are required to be custom made for each individual.

Those with affected cosmetic charms are encouraged to contact their retailer for a full refund. New charms are just beginning to enter the market, and come with a much higher markup. Those with affected essential charms (such as those too large to fit safely into buildings) are encouraged to contact XXX-XXXX to arrange an emergency replacement.

Headline: Magical Dominance in the Arena
Story: While normally Acinaces Arena showcases a wide variety of fighting styles, one in particular has dominated as of late: Magic. Owing to the excess of mana in the air, three magic-based fighters are dominating the circuit, causing for a stagnation of variety.

"We're looking into limiting the amount of mana within the arena," one official for the arena had to say. "It's just an option, but we never like when one fighting style becomes this prominent."

Headline: Samhain Preparations Continue in Earnest
Story: Despite the high number of strange occurances happening as of late, party prep for Samhain is reaching a fever pitch. Officially, Samhain is the night of the Masquerade Ball, a major tradition on the island, but it's far from the only party happening. The Del Bosque family is also running a concurrent party, focusing more on the pagan elements of the holiday.

Headline: Day doesn't arrive, Manta Carlos Government urges citizens not to panic. '

Story:
Citizens awoke this morning to find that the sun had not risen, in fact, the sky appears to be unmoving. Other have noticed that all outgoing communications, both magic and mundane, are failing. This strange occurrence follows several strange fluctuations of magic on the island, which many believe to be related.

For now, the government is working to set up sunlamps around the city for citizens that require sunlight, and government institutions including the school are ongoing as normal. Citizens are encouraged to continue with their day as they normally would while experts in the field of magic attempt to find the source of this strange issue.

Headline: Manta Carlos Government Urges Calm
Story: It's safe to say that things aren't working quite the way people expected. While investigations continue, many are attempting to continue life as normal. While attendance was poor, Starlight Academy was open on Friday, and is expected to continue hosting classes throughout next week.

More importantly: Whatever happened to the sky appears to have reverted, and the sun is once again shining, removing the need for sun lamps around the island.

Residents are encouraged not to listen to any strange rumors, and to take all things with a grain of salt.
In cheerier news, the Island's Food Festival is now taking place in Oceania Park, and residents are encouraged to spend the weekend sampling all kinds of foods.
