"Sorry Kiddo. That present taste on your tongue is what I take. It helps me forget the pain."

She admitted calmly. The drug while overly relaxing left the users mind very clear. It made the user feel as if there was no care in the world and relaxation was reached. Perfectly reached.

"Lochlann. How long have you been using drugs? The test results here show that you have been abusing for nearly a year now. Do you have any idea what this can do to your body?"

standing once more she unhooked his wrists from the cuffs. With a step towards him she slipped her hands under the covers and under his gown. The comforting heat of her hands being place on the center of his chest while the other was placed on his lower stomach , right above his member.

"I'm going to do that one test down. It will take a few minutes. Don't worry about the medicine I gave you.. It will burn out of your system a little as I do it."

It was another reason why she was dosing so many times. Her power burned it out of her system a bit faster and her metabolism made it hard her to stay out of pain. After a moment a glow in her chest sparked and rapidly spread from her skin and into his.

His body warmed significantly as the touch felt more intimate, more inviting. He could feel the warmth of her touch and the warmth of a power swirling through him touching him in places that he couldn't even tattoo.

However, she was correct when she said that would help burn the chemical from his system. It wasn't fully out, but there was a great deal of added clarity.

"Sorry Kiddo. That present taste on your tongue is what I take. It helps me forget the pain."

"Oh," Lochlann said again. He nodded. He may have been relaxed, but his body was screaming for sleep, and his loss of inhibitions made his tongue more free than it would have been normally.

"Is this one of Cabels? I know he's been working on something for a while, but this one doesn't taste like skittles." He wrinkled his nose and said, "I'm gonna be pissed if I'm cumming rainbows next week though."

That was one of the weirder side-effects from Cabel's drugs.

He relaxed further into the bed and whatever apprehension he felt went away when she unhooked his wrists. The fact that his ankles were still bound didn't bother him as long as he didn't look at it.

"Lochlann. How long have you been using drugs? The test results here show that you have been abusing for nearly a year now. Do you have any idea what this can do to your body?"

"Probably about a year," Lochlann said, closing his eyes as he tried to think back. "I couldn't use as many when I was in rehab, but it got easier since I came back. And I know exactly what it does to my body--that's the whole point. If I'm tired and weak, I can't hurt anyone."

He started to sit up when she stood closer to him and started to slip her hands under the covers but his body protested and he lay still beneath her hands.

"Your warm," he said. A brilliant observation, but hey, he was on a lot of drugs. Lochlann had been used to being physically hotter than everyone he touched.

"I'm going to do that one test down. It will take a few minutes. Don't worry about the medicine I gave you.. It will burn out of your system a little as I do it."

"Okay," he asked, and then, hesitantly, "Is this going to hurt?"

Not that he could feel pain right now, but Lochlann was dreading the return of it.

He closed his eyes and tried to brace himself, but her hands just seemed to get warmer and then some of that warmth spread throughout him. His breathing was still unsteady but it'd just take a day or so to get back to normal.

He finally thought to ask, "What are you doing, anyway?"

He was putty in her hands.

"Well to put it simply. I have something that you hear about it cheesy novels about ninjas called Ki. What I am doing right now is spilling my Ki, which is technically an extension of my soul into you. Pretty intimate huh?"

She chuckled a bit as she continued to let her warming Ki flow into his body and search out everything about him physically the longer that they stayed connected the more she learned.

"Its cheaper than the other scans we have and its a lot safer too. But, that's why I get paid big bucks and as long as I'm in working condition when I'm here. The bossman doesn't care what I do. And no.. Not more than a hug could hurt."

Loch could see her frown as she moved her hand up to where his liver was and left it there for a long moment.

"Loch. I hate to say this.. But your liver is starting to fail. I can feel the damage.. Its... Hm... Loch. If you decided to stop doing drugs completely come back here and ask for me. If I'm still around I will help you."

Then she moved down his body to touch his leg where the bullet wound was. Her other hand was busily undoing the cuffs around his ankles.

"This bullet here needs to come out. Before it does further damage. You're lucky you haven't gotten heavy metal poisoning. Or gangrene."

"Well to put it simply. I have something that you hear about it cheesy novels about ninjas called Ki. What I am doing right now is spilling my Ki, which is technically an extension of my soul into you. Pretty intimate huh?"

"That's ah..."Lochlann squirmed a little bit with the idea, but he didn't have the energy or the motor skills to get anywhere, so he relaxed beneath her. He was still so, so tired, but the drugs she'd given him earlier to keep him awake seemed to be working.

Plus, if he was being honest, it'd been a while since he felt warm, and since he'd felt a girl touching him without it being...well...

"Its cheaper than the other scans we have and its a lot safer too. But, that's why I get paid big bucks and as long as I'm in working condition when I'm here. The bossman doesn't care what I do. And no.. Not more than a hug could hurt."

"It's kind of strange seeing medicine and magic come together," Lochlann admitted. He caught her frown and thought he'd done something wrong, so he laid perfectly still again.

"Loch. I hate to say this.. But your liver is starting to fail. I can feel the damage.. Its... Hm... Loch. If you decided to stop doing drugs completely come back here and ask for me. If I'm still around I will help you."

He didn't really understand what she meant, but he did notice she said if you decide, so he had a choice in the matter.

"It can't be that bad," he said. Why would his liver be damaged? He wasn't sick. He hadn't been hurt lately. Of course, drinking the amount per day that he usually did couldn't have anything at all to do with it.

He relaxed even further when she undid the cuffs and if Lochlann was putty before, now he was undone.

"Thank you," he said. "I....I really don't like being tied up like that."

She moved down his leg and he tensed again when her hand hovered over his bad leg, but he didn't spazz like he might have a few moments earlier.

"What was that pill you gave me?" Lochlann asked. He'd need to look for it. It seemed like every time he left the hospital, he'd discovered something new to get addicted to.

"This bullet here needs to come out. Before it does further damage. You're lucky you haven't gotten heavy metal poisoning. Or gangrene."

"Oh," Lochlann said. "They left it in here."

He suspected part of it was to serve as a reminder to not try and kill himself. No one would believe him that he'd never tried to kill himself--a girl had shot him.

However, it was positioned in such a way that removing it would take him off his feet for a long time. Iron reacted badly to him, and it was a reaction even magic couldn't heal.

"I don't really...I mean you know what I am, so you can see why it's bad if I'm off my feet."

It'd taken him a long time to learn to sleep lying down.

"It is a lot easier, however I get tired and hungry very easily. So I guess its about the same thing." Though she smiled at his comment on seeing medicine and magic becoming one for the betterment of humanity. "I am a dividing line between magic and medicine. Plus, I am a universal donor for blood and organs. Which means. With enough time I can grow an organ to replace a bad one.. Just as long as it isn't my heart or brain."

At lochs comment of 'it cant be that bad.' She shook her head and made him look her in the eyes. Her eyes looked glassed over.. "If your liver fails you will die. No magic wand to bring you back. I'm pretty magical as a phoenix. But, I cant perform that large scale of miracles."

Nodding quietly at his thanks she tensed at him asking about what she gave him and sighed a little bit. A shake of her head.

"You will not find it anywhere else. I am the only person with it. Its.. Eh.. Specifically formulated for me."

She refused to look him in the eyes as she continued to run her fingers over his body. The last of the drug she had given him to calm down and wake up burnt out of his body as she let out a quiet sigh.

"That's everything. I want you to find me once every two weeks. either here at my personal address. I want to do a check up on you and make sure that you're not getting worse. Understand me?"

Reaching into her pocket she wrote down her address and her cellphone number before putting it in the pant pocket of his jeans as she grabbed his clipboard and signed it.

"Everything about you has checked out. The drugs are out of your system and except for the stress of being in here.. You are fine. I will tell the nurse to give you the rest of your things and release you. See you around kiddo."

She looked at him sadly as her hand went to her ring finger. She was married? But she looked so young. With a shake of her head she turned to walk out of the door.

The first thing Loch thought of when she said that she could regrow her organs, except for her heart and brain, was that he would really, really enjoy eating her. He didn't like hearts or livers, so he could theoretically consume her and then--

No. Get a grip, he shook his head.

The drugs were clearly wearing off because those thoughts were coming back, and so was the weariness. He didn't want to make eycontact with her for a reason he couldn't explain.

He'd die if his liver fails? Impossible. He really hadn't been feeling bad, and he hadn't been hurt, so how the hell could it be failing?

He said the same thing he did when they told him he'd overdosed: "It's a mistake."

She told him that they were formulated for her only, but Lochlann was skeptical. They had to come somewhere, right? He didn't get a chance to follow up because she was telling him to meet with her every two weeks.

He wanted to ask if that was negotiable, but she was telling him he was free to go. Like right now.

He saw the ring on her finger and realized that he was free in some ways, but not others.

She was in her own little word after she signed his papers and told him to go.. She was staring at her ring and her expression filled with pain. Pure and unaltered. She lost whomever gave her that ring. Her body began shaking the longer she looked at her hand.

It was as if staring at it killed her buzz more than tending to him did. It was as if she was incapable of moving on. Or moving from the sight of the ring. After a moment, without even realizing it she dipped her hand into her own pocket and pulled out the bottle and poured four tablets into her hand She then put them back in shaking her head.

With a deep breath she looked up to Lochlann and finally found the words she needed to answer him with. "Lochlann. Drug abuse. Drug abuse is wants caused your liver to start failing. If you keep on the road you are on.. You will die."
