"Better a dying eagle than a dying whale." Hal jested. "But if yu say so, I won't argue." In his opinion, she sounded pretty good assuming she didn't have vocal training. And it was nice hearing her giggle instead of them bickering wih each other with growls.

"You shouldn't worry too much. If no one's told you, you really do have a nice voice." Realizing he was saying all these so calmly, he cast his gaze downward. A light blush appeared across his cheeks while he rubbed the back of his neck. "W-well that's what I really think, alright?"

Keeping a bright smile on her face, she agreed with him with a light nod. It wasn't like either of them sounded bad, but to some they could be seen as amateurs, or causal singers, as there really wasn't anything special about the way they sang. "Yeah." She said quietly, not wanting to interrupt. Claire felt awfully cheery, having a slight blush across her face as he talked. His voice didn't irritate her anyone.

Her blush grew as he complement her voice, though she didn't see it as that amazing. "I-I..." Claire said as she covered her mouth with a fist. Looking downwards, she didn't even think about thanking him at that moment, too worried about trying to control her blush. Taking a deep breath inward, she calmed herself lightly, Being calm enough to look at him without feeling awkward. Lowering her hand, she finally spoke after the long pause of silence. "Y-You're really cute to say that." She said, which followed with a blush as she gazed at him. Why was she feeling so girly and weird?

Hal started getting flustered when Claire cast her gaze downwards after complementing her. Since he wasn't sure if that offended her or just made her as equally flustered as he did, he really didn't know what to do. Hal turned his gaze side to side but never did it go back to Claire as he waited for her to respond, occasionally tapping the tip of his foot on the ground. It was a really long pause, Hal thought.

He'd planned to break the silence but Claire got to it first and it has Hal's turn to blush. It wasn't a rare thing to be called 'cute' for Hal. In fact, it was the most annoying thing for him to be called cute but let's just say Claire had said it in a way that he didn't have that right (or state of mind) to be angry. "I-I'm not... cute," he said, the instinctive pout showing in his face.

Seeing his reaction of her words, she became very aware of what she has said to him. Her own words put a light blush on her cheeks, making them rosy with emotion. had she said something wrong? She decided that no, she hadn't said anything wrong, that maybe she had embarrassed him more that she had wanted to.

"Of course you're cute, I wouldn't have, said that if it hadn't been true." She said rather quietly as she looked cautiously at his face. "At least to me." She said softly as she looked away from him, letting her words take their toll.

Hal was speechless. He couldn't think of a response like he always did and all he could do was bury his face in his hands to hide the growing blush he had. Hal the time people called him cute was to irritate him but Claire wasn't doing that. She was saying what she thought and it was making him even more flustered the more he tried to think about it.

It took a couple of seconds before Hal finally pried his hands away and looked at Claire, still having that light pink brushed on his cheeks. He took a short breath before he spoke, "S-sorry, It's just-- I'm not-- You're--" Hal wanted to slap himself for stuttering too much. Why was this so difficult and making him feel weird? "Th-thanks, you're... I think you're actually cute too," he said quietly.

She hung her head rather low, as she didn't know how her words would truly affect the boy. It had been a long time since she had actually meant to compliment someone for how they looked or treated her. She though compliments to be a bit stupid, as they were just words. She would rather express her feelings, but it seemed that he wasn't in the mood for that, nor did she think that she was ready.

She then looked up quickly as he started to talk once again, seeing the bright blush over his face. "I...." She said as her face also started to light up once again. "You, think I am cute?" Even though there had been dirty strangers hat had said that to her in her earlier years, they had no meaning. TO her, it seemed that his words actually mean something. They had a feeling behind the words. Looking around them, she saw that the darkness was fully surrounding them. "DO you like, the dark?" She said trying to change the subject and hide her blush.

"Well, of course you are," Hal responded almost immediately. The suddenness of his own reply startled him a bit that he shrunk back and started fidgeting a little. When Claire started looking around, Hal instinctively followed suit and realized it's gotten darker. He didn't realize it had become this late.

He hummed in thought, "Personally, I don't have anything against the dark but.." Hal wrinkled his nose a bit. No, he was okay with minimal lighting, but darkness always came with a heavy feeling of being watched or simply having unwanted guests. That always unnerved him. "Think we should head back?"

Smiling this time and nodding to his quick comeback, she was happy that the boy wasn't faking it all. That was the last thing that she needed after having such a good time with him. "Yeah, it's pretty dark." It wasn't like she cared that it was dark out, nor did she even want to leave yet, as most of her forest friends came out at night, to hunt or to prowl. "Do you think we should?" She questioned his question to her. "Are you scared that my wolfies will come and-" She moved closer to him, giving him a second before she whispered to him. "Eat you alive?" She smirked as she gave her sentence a bold laugh, backing into her original stop once again. "I won't let that happen, they don't eat my friends unless they suddenly are not my friends anymore." Looking at him, she expended her hand out towards him. "Want to head back then? I won't bite."

Hal didn't even make an effort to hide his fear when she dared mention about wolves. No, if the lighting was any better he'd have looked pale from merely the thought of it, his eyes were wide with fear. And yet, hearing her laugh calmed him just a enough to prevent him from freaking out. It was an odd comfort. Not really 'odd' but, it was more like he'd never been comforted like that.

He gave out a tired laugh, eyes closed from probably starting to feel tired too. "I'd be scared about that yeah," his expression relaxed as he continued, "I'm glad you're here. I don't have to be scared that much," he added.

A soft sigh, "Though other than that really, the darkness just makes me feel like somethings around me that I can't see. It's not a good feeling for psychics to be in," he said, followed by a weak laugh. It took him a moment before he reached out to her hand bringing back his smile. "We probably should. Let's go?" he said letting Claire lead their way.
