Kenshin loved eating out.

He was out of the house wandering around when he came across this nice looking restaurant. He'd heard they had really good meals there, so naturally he was going to try it out.

Fast forward a couple of hours or so, and Kenshin was definitely not regretting his decision. They had loads of vegetarian options in their menu; The noodles, in particular, were some of the best he'd ever tasted. Not the best, but contenders for sure.

In fact, he had finished his meal and was heading off. He paid for the meals, making sure to give a generous tip for introducing their amazing food to his taste buds. He'd definitely come here again for sure.

His mind was still on those amazing noodles when he very narrowly missed a collision with someone else. "WOAH shit, sorry about that." He quickly took a step back; the near-collision had gotten him standing very close to the girl.

Today was a very good day for Reiko, she liked to think. Then again, every day was a good day for her. Rarely did she have a day that didn't put a smile on her face. But then again she tended to feed off emotions from people, sometimes without her even meaning to, so when people were having a good time that put her in a good mood. For this reason, she always tried to line her shifts up with when the people who came to drink and party came around.

Eventually, her shift came to an end. She said goodbye to her co-workers, and headed to the door to where her car was waiting. But as she walked someone came up beside her and nearly bumped into her. Probably absent-minded like her, not paying attention to where he was. He apologized, taking a step back, and Reiko flashed him a wide smile.

"Hi! There's no need to be sorry, no harm done!" That probably could've been all the two said to each other, but since the guy was a leaving customer she decided to ask, "So, did you enjoy your meal? Sir?" Adding that last "sir" felt natural to her, even though it probably wasn't all that necessary.

Kenshin grinned back at the girl; she seemed to give off a friendly aura, which would be convenient for someone he nearly crashed into.

"Did I enjoy my meal?" As much as he was trying to stay calm and composed, given that she worked there and all (The use of "sir" at the end of her question was a good reminder of that, as well as her work uniform of course), it didn't seem to be working. "Sure did! Great service, great food, vegetarian options are always nice. The noodles were amazing by the way. Definitely need to come back here."

Reiko was glad to hear the boy had a pleasant experience. It seemed like he was trying to conceal his enthusiasm, but it seeped out despite his efforts. Immediately Reiko began to absorb the positive energy, and her smile widened as she couldn't help but hop up and down a bit. "I'm so, so glad you think that! I have to say that the noodles are one of my favorite dishes here, too! I do hope I see you around here again soon!"

"So, what's your name? Or, what can I call you? I'm Reiko!" She held out her hand in greeting, because she preferred knowing the name of people when she had conversations. But she also didn't really realize she didn't need to know every name of every person she came across. She should probably let this boy leave, he probably had something to do after eating. But those thoughts never crossed her mind.

You know what, he wasn't even trying to hide his enthusiasm any more at this point. He really liked this place and was far more excited about it than he thought he'd be. One thing that probably helped with that was the fact that he was now in a casual conversation with one of the waitresses about it.

"Shishigami Kenshin! Kenshin for first name." He happily took the girl's hand to shake it in greeting. Reiko... Her name had a familiar ring to it. Probably because it sounded very Japanese. In the hype of the moment, he spoke again in query. "I'm sorry if it's not my place to ask, but are you from Japan, by any chance?"

It seemed like the more the two talked, the more positive energy exuded from the guy, who introduced himself as "Shishigami Kenshin". The name sparked Reiko's interest, and she wondered if Kenshin was from Japan like she was. Either that, or a nearby country. But before she had a chance to ask, Kenshin took the words out of her mouth.

"I am, yes!" She liked talking to people about her past and where she came from, usually because they ended up talking about their pasts. Reiko loved learning about people, especially if they came from different countries and were brought up in different ways. She swore that if she got anymore excited talking to Kenshin, her ears and tail would pop out, startling anyone who wasn't expecting it. "What about you? Where do you come from?"

She probably could've asked the question in a more polite way, or waited to see if Kenshin wanted to bring it up himself, but she didn't really think about that. She almost wanted to directly ask if he was a kitsune like her (she loved meeting her kind) or a different creature, but one personal question was enough for now.

"Cool!" He so called it. Reiko had confirmed his suspicions. He was glad they'd met alright; not just because of her general friendliness, but because she, too, was Japanese. He loved getting to talk with people from the same homeland as he was, just as much as he liked getting to know people from different places and cultures. While the latter had new perspectives to offer, He and Reiko could talk with a sense of familiarity with each other this way.

"I'm also from Japan. My family recently bought an estate here, so here I am!" Having brought that up brought something else to mind, too... "So, what brings you here? To Manta Carlos, I mean."

Reiko's smile spread wider across her face when she learned Kenshin was also from Japan. Imagine all the things they could talk about! She wondered how long it had been since he came to the islands, because it had been within the last century she'd want to see how their homeland had changed since she left. Maybe she'd ask that later.

"I arrived here by accident, actually. Would you believe that? I had just learned how to fly, so I was flying around the world when i came across Manta Carlos. It just seemed like such a cool place, so I decided to settle in!" But there was also the chance that she would get bored of the islands and just leave to explore more of the world. At least for now, she believed she would stay for some time.
