No field trips...I hate field trips.

For someone who had shown less emotion than a box of crayons, William was suddenly passionate.
Although, passionate was arbitrary. Vieve had someone throw a temper tantrum in the middle of a class and she wished they had as much control as William had.

But it was opposite ends on the same spectrum, and she was glad he was opening up.

"They're not all bad," Vieve said, her easy grin still on her face. "It's like getting one crappy apple when there's a basket full of ripe ones. Wait. Let's change that metaphor to tacos. It's like getting one taco with extra lettuce when you asked for no lettuce, when the rest of the bunch is delicious."

She wasn't sure if she was making a lot of sense. This is why she taught yoga, not English. Her metaphors were a nightmare.

"We do get to leave the island, I mean. It can get claustrophobic here after a while for some students, especially those who were used to having the world at their fingertips." There was something in Vieve's voice and the way she shifted to her other foot that hinted that maybe she was one of those people. "Sometimes a change of scenery is nice, and we do visit towns and cities, not just the woods."

You're a werewolf?

She nodded. "Practically born and raised. I was bit when I was little, so I grew up this way. My dad had it, too."

She shrugged, because at this point saying "you're a werewolf" was no different to her than saying "you're a brunette?" She was comfortable in her skins, regardless of what one she wore.

Vieve still looked unsettled, but she couldn't place why, and she was doing her best to relax. She didn't want to spook the boy, who did seem to respond well to her body language, so she was very conscious to do her best to look relaxed. But she..smelled something, she guessed. It was just instinct, but she had a feeling that something was going to happen.

"So you two have known each other a long time then," she said, nodding. "I wish I had a friend like that growing up. The company seems nice, and you two respond to each other with the kind of mannerisms that only come from knowing someone for years. It's good that you have that."

A breeze flitted by, a little stronger than the last one, and Vieve angled her body towards the school. "Would you both feel like going for a walk?"

((Ooc: Hahah I am just as guilty--I should have been doing homework when I popped on yesterday, although I didn't even get to finish my responses. D=
Also I have a vague idea planned...but nothing yet, really, so if you have something you want to do, just go for it! If not I'll keep setting something up.))

They're not all bad,

That was the only part of her sentence that William was sure he understood. His brow frowned as he repeted the rest of her words to himself, trying to figure them out somehow. In the end, he just gave up and said. 'Perhaps.'

In his mind, he knew that there was no reason to be afraid of te dark anymore, and that even if something like that happened again, he would have an adult Spirit with him this time, and that meant that he would be back in less than five minutes. Still, for some reason, he was afraid. Not of the dark, exactly, since he didn't mind it at all, or of the forest and creatures in it. What scared him was the sole principal of the field trip. Other people, and a lot of questions.. And, of course, if he got Spirit on one of those field trips, would it mean he would also lose him on one? It made no sence, still, that's what he felt, and feelings often make no sence.

It can get claustrophobic here... Sometimes a change of scenery is nice...

'I have never traveled before.', William said quietly looking at the sky. 'So to be this far away from what used to be 'home' is quite enough travel for me for now... Plus, it's beautiful here.', he tilted his head, as he again waited for the wind to touch his sun-kissed skin. 'Really beautiful.'

It's good that you have that.

'The best.', William whispered, feeling serine, something he hasn't felt in over three years.'However, it wasn't always easy.', he added after a few seconds of though. In his head, there was a battle going on. There was a part of him that didn't want to talk about it, yelling at him to shut up before the memories hurt him once more, fighting against the wish to simply talk, and the urge to open up to someone that came from the Spirit's tail rubbing his back.

'When Spirit first came to me, he was just a puppy. Or, at least, he looked like a puppy. Instead of him protecting me, I had to protect him, for years, untill he grew up. Then, when I was 15 he stated talking to me, and that... That felt amazing. It was surreal, like a movie, but better. It was... Simply amazing. But then my parents heard us, and they though I was talking to myself. They sent me to counseling, first at school, then at a private clinic. My friends heard, and left me. No body wanted to speak to a crazy person.', he laughed, bitterly. 'And that was what they though about me, no matter how much I tried to convince them otherwise. All that effort, meaningless... And, of course, in the end, they found out about Spirit, and everything went even more wrong, up to the point that my father kicked me out of the house. Then I was shipped here as soon as I could go.' His face was now a mask of bitterness, twisted in a smile of malice, and anger, while his eyes spoke of a deep sadness, all those things he usually didn't want to feel, for what was the point? What was the point in trying, and feeling, and, well, anything else in the world? Effort was meaningless. He was sure to remember that forever.

'Still, I got Spirit out of it, and that is the best thing in the world. He is all I need, all I'll never need. So I don't mind the island.', he smiled again, a little more sencere. 'I really don't mind anything at all.'

After that, he got up, aslo not minding the walk anymore.

Spirit stayed quietly beside him, comforting, suporting, wraping his tail around his legs, brushing the soft fur against his skin, anything, everything, to show that he was here.

((OOC: Homework, it shall be the bane of my exsistance right now. Really. And I don't have anything specific in mind, just a general goal of getting him to speak first, then able to summon more than one creature, so going along like this is just fine, since she is a teacher and all :D Also, sorry if this one is all over the place, like I said, homework, couldn't concentrate properly.)

That was a lot of words out a boy that Vieve previously thought she'd have to get to talk with the jaws of life. She was quite happy with this, though she was also entirely sympathetic to his story, nodding and giving a slight laugh when he mentioned how no one wanted to talk to a crazy person.

"A very close friend of mine was committed," she said in explanation, "and when that happened a lot of our friends left, too. I think in her case it was more of a fear--if someone as strong as she was could break like that, couldn't they?--but I've seen it happen from fear, too. They don't know how to relate, there's a fear they'll "catch it", any now they have too look at their friend in an entirely different way. It's a lot easier to leave." She frowned despite herself, knowing where these memories where taking her, so she shook her head and cleared them away.

Still, I got Spirit out of it, and that is the best thing in the world. He is all I need, all I'll never need. So I don't mind the island.... 'I really don't mind anything at all.'

Vieve nodded, but she wasn't sure whether she agreed or disagreed with him. She couldn't either way--she simply didn't know him well enough--but she wondered if his not minding was genuine or just his brains way of coping with everything that had just happened.

"I didn't realize you were here so soon," she said, referring to the proximity of his transfer to the school with all that he'd been through. "Some of our students are bounced around other schools before eventually ending up here, and it can cause some....incidents. I hope the transition from there to here goes well, and I'd like you to know that if you ever need something that I'm always available. I practically sleep in my office, so never be afraid to come find me." She said, grinning.

Vieve wasn't joking, either. She had a hammock strung up behind her desk for those nights when she actually had to do paperwork.

As she was walking, her brain finally placed the smell. She looked towards Spirit, her head still slightly tilted, and said,

"Do you smell that?"

It was smoke.

((ooc: It's okay! I am probably going to be responding every 2 days or so, just to try and keep up with the homework on my end haha! I have a large test this week that I'm behind for, so I think my next post might be a bit shorter.))

A very close friend of mine was committed.
...now they have too look at their friend in an entirely different way.
It's a lot easier to leave.

He felt a wave of understanding wash over him as he closed his eyes and sighed. When he opened them up again, he felt calmer, and somewhat stronger. He never thought about it like that. He was just hurt. So that was what he had said next:

'I never thought about it like that.', he smiled. A small smile, but smile non the less. 'I think I understand better now. Thank you.'

I didn't realize you were here so soon

'Is it really that unusual?', he asked, tilting his head. 'I really don't think they had any other choice. I mean, there was a talking dog involved, and with me having no place to stay... It was the only place I could go, in the end. Right? Any other, and it would be the same. Not to mention, at that point, I don't even have a home to stay at anymore.'

I hope the transition from there to here goes well,

'Me too.', the boy said, followed by Spirit only a breath away, saying: 'It's already going well enough.'

and I'd like you to know that if you ever need something that I'm always available. I practically sleep in my office, so never be afraid to come find me.

'Thank you.', they almost said in union. 'We will.', William added for both of them, grinning slightly again.

Do you smell that?

Raising his head, the dog-creature inhaled. 'Smoke!', he said, his body suddenly tense.

((OOC: Wow, I actually managed to write this without making a single spelling mistake-I think. xD Please don't prove me wrong xD Long, short, I don't mind, it's really fun, and it is also helping my spelling apparently xD Or at least I hope so. As for homework and tests, I understand, so don't worry. In all honesty, I should probably be worrying about it as well, I just tend to ignore everything up till the last moment possible xD))

Vieve shrugged, but it wasn't a dismissive shrug. It was more of her way of acknowledging and admitting there wasn't really a right answer.

"That doesn't stop some students from thinking they can live a life like others without any kind of guidance," she said. With this, it wasn't what Vieve said that was important, but rather what she didn't say: "That doesn't stop students from thinking they can live a normal life."

She wouldn't say that. The thought wouldn't even cross her mind. For Vieve, turning into a wolf on the full moon was normal. Watching your best friend fight demons--actual demons, not inner ones--was normal. Having a mentor who met Death and beat him in a card game was normal, not a story. So, having a boy who summoned a talking dog was normal to her. It didn't stop her from feeling sad for him, but it didn't stop her from understanding either.

The smoke.

Vieve's head was tilted, angled to catch the wind and any sounds. She couldn't make much out, and the smell of smoke was still too far to pinpoint exactly, but she knew a few things for certain.

"There's no burning in the park before dusk," Vieve said, frowning. "It's too dry, they don't want to risk a blaze spreading."

She looked at the boy and his creature, cracked her knuckles, grinned, and said, "Want to come see what happens when you break the rules?"

((ooc: Haha I think you're right! Truthfully if you didn't tell me this was your first time RPing in English I wouldn't have known! xD I'm glad that it is helping, though! I hope if I ever become learn to speak another language I'll be able to RP in it, too.)

'I think I knew.', he said, not so quiet anymore. It was like a giant weight just fell from his shoulders just there. He felt better, from the very core of his being, he felt better. And it was amazing.

'Somewhere deep down. I never protested, not even to myself, when they said I was being sent here.' That was true. Spirit still remembered him just nodding his head, some hours after his father kicked them both out of the front door, yelling things at them neither of them could remember.

'And honestly?', Wlliam suddenly gave her a genuine smile. 'I'm glad of it. I mean, look at me! I'm talking again!', he laughed, from his heart. 'I haven't talked this much to anyone except Spirit since I was fifteen! And, yes, Spirit, I knew it all along that it was wrong. I just didn't care.', he shot in the creature's direction, challenging him to say anything. The creature stayed sillente. If anything, feeling the boy's emotions gave him a perfect way of knowing when he can tease and when he cannot.

Want to come see what happens when you break the rules?

'Why not?', he said, looking her straight in the eyes as he gave another smile. 'It might be good for the future references.'

To Spirit, this was all he could ask from the world. Some parts of William's personality seemed to have survived the long winter-sleep and were raising their silly heads again.

((OOC: Well, I've been learning English for a long time, so some things just come naturally to me, and rping is not much different than writing xD However, it seems that last time was just a fluke, I made a bunch a mistakes here that Word had to correct xD I'm just bad at spelling. *sigh* I hope so to :P If you ever by any chance learn Serbian, let me know xD))

ooc: Ahh sorry about the huge delay. I had major writers block with Vieve, and then when I accidentally deleted my post I went a little insane. xD I saw in an OCC thread you're looking to have William summon another creature--did you want to do that in this thread? I'm okay inviting anyone in if you'd need! ))

BiC:

"Why not?', he said, looking her straight in the eyes as he gave another smile. 'It might be good for the future references.'

Vieve grinned back. She knew she was going to like these two.

She tilted her head towards the air, honing in on the set, changing her pace to a lose jog as she followed the smell, tracking it like an animal. Occasionally, she had to stop to catch her bearings, but for the most part Vieve led them through the park until the smoke started to become visible.

"What the hell?" she said, looking at the expanse before her. "There is no reason this should be on fire. "

It wasn't a large blaze, but it was large enough. Underbrush burned a bright orange and the flames danced at the base of the trees, trying desperately to consume them. What Vieve talked about became clear enough as they'd get closer, because the rest of the ground was moist, perpetually damp from the gentle breeze coming off of a fountain shaped like a dragon. Sure, there was some irony in the fact that there was fire around a dragon statue, but that's not what stopped Vieve in her tracks.

"There's something in there," she said, frowning, trying to make out the dark figure amidst the blaze. It didn't look like a person, but it was definitely large....and moving.

((OOC-No worries, I completely understand that, it happened to me a few times as well. About the creature summoning, I was more hoping for a new tread, since this one is too 'early' in his story. considering that I'm playing anoher one where is like six weeks later, and he doesn't have a creature there and I like my story making sense even in role play...))

William felt his muscles burn as he ran after Vieve. 'It seems I was sitting still for far too long.', he said, already breathing hard. Spirit just laughed, as his natural instinct took over. He wanted to play tag, so he left William behind to enjoy the feeling of the wind in his hair and his body streching to its natural strenght and height, as he himself ran faster so he could catch up to Vieve. He know that they were somewhat in the hurry, but perhaps he could still convince her to play, at least on their way there. Unfortunately, just as he caught up to her, she stopped, and Spirit smelled fire again, stronger than before.

'William, stay back.', he said, growling. Vieve was right, it was by all means a very unusual flame, and here unusual meant dangerous as far as he was concerned. He growled again as Vieve pointed out a shape in the flame, the fur on his neck standing straight as he pulled his muzzle in an even bigger growl. 'We should move back.'

((Ugh, it's too short, but I'll need time to get back into the role now, sorry xD))
