Demons Can Wear Pink

Lucia paused momentarily, surprised to hear Kaya’s kind words. Nonetheless, she was grateful and gave her a “Thank you.”

Kaya’s astral addition to the dress was the perfect finishing touch. The stars reaching across the bottom of the dress were the cherry on top of the spacescape. After Lucia was done staring in awe, her face melted into a wide grin. She lifted her arms and began to spin, letting the skirt flare out. The fabric billowed with her movement. The stars appeared to be twinkling in the blur. When she came to a halt and the skirt settled, she let out a delighted laugh.

“Miss Kaya, this is one of the most beautiful pieces of clothing I’ve ever seen,” Lucia said. Earlier, she made her own rule not to buy anything, but rules were meant to be broken. Though, there was still the issue of money, and Lucia wasn’t exactly the wealthiest person in the world. “How much would it cost?” She asked, expecting a large expense.

Lucia held her breath as Kaya spoke. Deep down, she imagined the worst possible situation, that she wouldn’t be able to afford the dress. Already she silently resigned. Though she wasn’t planning on purchasing anything at first, the beautiful dress and Kaya’s friendly nature had changed her mind, and now Lucia felt somewhat disappointed. Then the best possible situation came about. Kaya offered it for free. Lucia’s lips parted, then the corners of her mouth rose into a smile. “Thank you, Miss Kaya,” She said. She closed her eyes and smiled again, taking a relaxed sigh.

“I’m going to change now,” Lucia warned before turning and taking off the dress. This time, she noticed the mirrors. Through it she caught sight of Kaya’s reflection. Quickly she looked away and slipped back into her old clothes. She gathered the dress and took it to the checkout to be bagged. As Kaya sorted it out, Lucia took one last look around the store. Was it possible for one trip to a dress shop to change her taste in clothing? No, but it did open her eyes to some new ideas for fashion. She would definitely be visiting Dark Arts Fashion again after this.

Once her dress was bagged, Lucia met Kaya’s eyes. “Thank you again, Miss. You’ve been very friendly! I’ll be coming back here, someday!”
