At first, the prospect of getting the boat safely out of this mess was really not looking promising. Remiel's wings managed to slow the pull a good bit, but it was still moving closer to the center little by little. By now, it had reached its maximum speed and force, the debris smashing against the side of the boat hard enough to sent splinters from the assorted crates and bits of wood flying up onto the deck. While the rescue boat didn't have any sails, Yvarn would very likely be able to use his wind regardless, either to push directly against the boat or even boost the angel's wings.
Once Illu dove down again to investigate, she would feel an intensely strong pull from the pool, even with the water being her home terrain. Actually making her way down was difficult enough to begin with, but the further she made it, the more powerful the suction, and plenty of debris headed her way as well that her spear would luckily ne able to offer protection from. However, she was able to get close enough to at least make out that the circling lights were attached to some sort of humanoids, even with the blurred movement. Whoever was doing this, it was confirmed to be deliberate now that she'd seen them.
In the end, it was Tribdan's assistance that would provide that last push of power to stop the boat from being pulled any further in. Collectively, the three above rhe water synergized very well with their powers. It seemed for a few moments that they had only been able to delay the inevitable, but gradually, the whirlpool began to lose momentum, just a bit at a time. Illu could see that they were getting tired, the downward force in her lessening as well. Bit by bit, with the volunteers' combined efforts, the boat began to inch away from the center. Their persistence paid off, and as they slowly made it further away, the merfolk down below seemed to let their aggression settle into a simmer rather than a full boil.
Finally, they managed to escape entirely, the engine sputtering at first and then roaring back to life. Almost immediately, Illu could see the creatures slow further until they eventually stopped, evidently satisfied by the increased distance. Lights once again dimming one by one, they seemed to retreat deeper down and further out to sea. They had done it.
