For the rescue crew's part, there realistically was very little they could do in the current moment. To mitigate things somewhat, they were still focused on keeping the engine pumping at full speed in hopes of slowing the pull.

For the moment, things seemed to be entirely in the four volunteers' hands. The second boat wasn't especially far away, and the people on it seemed to be in better shape than the first group, but that obviously wouldn't be the case for anyone if they didn't act fast.

The whirlpool hadn't yet sped up any more, but had widened a bit, starting to pull in debris from further out that swirled in the current as even more inconveniences.

Did Yvarn hear that right? The other tall fella could make lava to fly? For a moment he was having an idea, but with the risks it should not be a good idea. "Be careful, Illu! They are very strong.", at least in the lizardman's perception they were strong.

Meanwhile all he would do would be coax the boat's crew to... Jump off the boat. The idea would seem weird or flat out stupid, but he was being specific to jump off the side he was at, where people would bounce low upon what seemed to be an invisible mattress. But not, not a mattress, a cushion of air dense enough to hold other people, but not very stable from the looks of it.

Warning them to stay close to him, he told them to walk with him. It seemed weird, but there was indeed a density there preventing them from going into dangerous water, as they walked the air to the rescue boat. He was truly nervous, even if his breathing didn't show, his eyes flicked around as if he was seeing something falter. One misstep of anyone aboard his air cushion platform and it'd be a one-way trip to the whirlpool.

Rem nodded when he was told the others wouldn't require his wings, then seemed to consider Illu's two options carefully, feeling a little conflicted about them. On one end, putting a stop to the whirlpool would be amazing for them. But on the other, the chance of that working was unknown and he was worried about somebody on the other boat being in a similar situation to the person who had almost drowned.

Perhaps she could do both, though Rem hoped it wouldn't be too taxing on the mermaid. "Mermaid! I'm going to start transporting the people on that boat to the rescue boat, but if somebody is underwater I'm afraid I might not find them in time. Is it possible for you to check below the boat as you did last time before descending?"

He looked back at Yvarn, again with confusion at what he was doing, but he didn't have time, he needed to start moving the other sailors. He flapped his wings, then made his way to the other boat and repeated a similar process to the last time. He'd find a sailor, inspecting for injuries, attaching wings to them and bringing them close to ask "How many are on this vessel?" Then he'd send them off to the rescue boat and continue doing so for the next ones, counting each time to ensure they were all there. He was limited to two wings at a time, but the closeness of the boat helped speed things along. He still couldn't quite rush this though, the wind and whirlpool made it harder than usual to control everything, especially with all four wings going at once.

Tribdan was a little ashamed to admit to themself that they were lost on how they could help. Remiel had excellent mobility granted with wings and could grant wings to the victims, the mermaid could swim through the water, and the lizardman... Tribdan actually wasn't too sure what was up with him, but he was able to move through the water and he had some kind of air manipulation. In comparison, Tribdan felt very limited.

But now wasn't the time for self- pity. Remiel and the lizard man were doing their parts to help. Tribdan turned to the mermaid with a determined expression. "I agree with Remiel. Go find more survivors underwater. If you need help killing anything, my lava might help. If I'm careful."

Tribdan went to the side of the boat to hold their hands out. A beam of lava shot out of the both of them, forming a large surfboard for them to jump over the boat and onto. The surfboard hovered a few inches off of the boat for them to hop onto, then parked itself a safe distance away. Tribdan was not letting anyone onto their lava. They were focused on gathering up all the crew members for Remiel to give wings to or for the lizard man to guide to the rescue boat.

"I will do what I can, then." Illu replied before she slipped back into the water.

First, she remained along the outer edge of the whirlpool as she made her way to the other boat, taking note that the speed was remaining consistent for the moment.

Once she reached the other boat, she began searching for any survivors who may have ended up in the water.

Needless to say, even though the boat itself was less wrecked than the first, the threatening presence of the whirlpool had kicked the survivors' panic into overdrive. Only two could calm themselves enough to trust Yvarn's apparent suggestion to jump into what they perceived az the whirlpool itself, moving shakily along with him as slow and steady as they could.

Though several others had seen this happen, they were far more on board with Remiel's solution, given it was something they could actually see. It grew a bit more difficult for the wings to work at a good pace for every few moments that the whirlpool continued raging, but nonetheless the rescue seemed to be working.

Tribdan's direction of the crew seemed to help immensely, most of them seeming to inherently trust them and cooperate due to their level headedness in all this. Back on the rescue boat, the engine gave a loud sputter at the increasing strain from the water, as well as the slowly increasing weight fron other survivors.

Illu had absolutely made the right call in skirting the edge of the pool, the collected debris zooming about violently now that it had gotten closer to the middle. Once under the sinking vessel, she'd be unable to see anyone in the water with her...at first. Abruptly, one of the last remaining sailors to be evacuated had tumbled over the side due to the increasing tilt of the boat and their panic, thrashing wildly nearby tbe mermaid.

Whenever the group did eventually manage to finish their second rescue, as successful as they had been it would all be for nothing if they couldn't free the rescue vessel from the whirlpool's pull. By now it was nearly halfway inside it, the engine audibly on the verge of giving out completely at any moment. Whatever they decided to do, if it didn't happen soon, it would spell complete disaster for them a.

Once at the rescue vessel with the people his party just rescued, Yvarn had no time to breathe relieved. Rem couldn't possibly give the ENTIRE BOAT wings, right? "Maybe make use of the whirlpool's centrifugal force to gain speed while trying to steer away from its eye? Also, I can give a push with the sails lowered.", given the circumstances right now all he could do was suggest a way to pull away from the whirlpool, preparing himself to converge a wide mass of air when the time is right.

Rem perked up slightly as he felt the other two wings he’d sent out earlier poof away, their mission completed and the two from earlier hopefully sitting safely at shore to be spotted by the rescue efforts back there.

With everyone safe on the boat they basically had another two options. They could either try to get the boat out of the whirlpool as Yvarn had suggested or they could try dealing with whatever was causing it.

Rem looked around rather unsure. “Um, mermaid?” He turned to Illu. “I know this may be asking a lot, but is it possible to try and get a better look at what’s causing this now? I fear that even if we did get the boat out, the whirlpool may come after us and start again just as it did the first time.”

Rem then looked to Yvarn’s suggestion, nodding. “I have all four of my wings again, I’ll use them to steer the boat as much as I can.” He attached all four to the boat and started pulling. Though when there was debris in their path, one or two of the wings would poof away to clear it instead, keeping anything from colliding with it as best he could.

Progress was progress, Tribdan told themself once everyone got onto the rescue boat. One problem was solved, so Tribdan hopped onto their surfboard and moved onto the next problem.

"I'm going to try and push the boat away from the whirlpool. At the very least, it might buy us some time until we find the heart of the problem," they announced to the group.

If Tribdan had a heart, it would be trying to break out of their chest, and blood would be deafening their ears. Their surfboard changed shape to wrap around their feet, essentially giving them shoes that allowed them to fly if they balanced themself well enough. For how awkward it should have been, it was weirdly comfortable, and it gave them the extra mobility to go to the side of the boat and use their immense strength to push it.

Well, that was good timing. Illu grabbed the sailor who had just fallen off the boat and quickly swam them around the whirlpool and to the rescue boat. She pulled the sailor up onto the boat before turning her attention to Rem.

"This was the only one I found in the water, so I will dive down now and see what I can find."

She pulled her spear from the holder on her back. She had a feeling she was going to need it--whether it be to knock debris out of her way, or to use it against whatever was down at the bottom of that whirlpool.

With that, she dove back in and started heading downward.
