As soon Remiel and Tribdan made their way aboard the wrecked vessel, they'd be able to see that for the most part, the injuries among the fishermen were generally minor to moderate in nature. Of course, they were all pretty rattled by the situation, but the methodical manner the two were employing seemed to help quite a lot. A few of them did panic a bit at the sudden wings, but the rescue crew managed to largely settle them down after landing safely.

For the pair who had opted to dive into the water, they would immediately be able to see more of the glowing spots dotting the dark. They were still a considerable distance away, but more of them were visible now, from multiple directions. There was by now a distinct air that they were being followed and watched, even though neither would yet be able to make out the creatures themselves. As Yvarn attempted to move closer, the lights he was headed towards abruptly jerked back, diving further in an apparent attempt to avoid contact. Illu did in fact manage to find a survivor struggling to free herself from some rope caught around her leg.

Throughout this, the coast guard captain kept a watchful eye on everything he could, ready to direct his crew to help any stragglers aboard.

He hadn't responded immediately, trying to focus, but soon he replied to Illu: "Nice to meet you, Illu, name's Yvarn.", although unsure how the sound waves from his mouth would interact with the water around his bubble. The vibrations would still go through, right? Although muffled? So he assumed... His intuition was right, he did sneak a peek at Illu's direction and saw a survivor stuck, but what were those lights then?

Yvarn thought his rescue partner could handle that survivor on her own, while he pursued the light that began moving. "I wonder if that's a survivor being carried by the tide? The cause of the ship sinking? Should have brought a light or something, but now it's late for regret...", the lizardman thought while pursuing the brightness in the depth.

Illu's fins twitched, getting just a muffled hint of Yvarn's voice. She did not respond though, as she was focused on the survivor.

With the large hunting knife in hand, she was quick to start cutting at the rope until the woman was free. Then she wrapped her arms around the woman's torso and swam up to the surface as fast as she could.

The woman gasped for air and started coughing as soon as they broke through. Illu realized they were fairly far from the rescue boat, and this woman would likely need quick medical attention. She decided the quicker option was to pass her on to Rem.

"Over here!" She shouted to the angel, waving a hand in the air.

When Tribdan asked for Rem’s assistance, he would nod and do exactly as she instructed, attaching wings and flying them back. He was more than content to be working with the god.

When he heard Illu’s voice, he turned, noticing the body and flying closer to examine. “Good work, thank goodness you found them.” Seeing as how he had wings to spare now and this person looked especially hurt, Rem attached two sets of wings to help keep her steady and sent them off a little slower than he had before.

Tribdan barely heard Illa calling for Remiel as they tried to get a fisherman to his feet. He was especially shaken, his eyes jumping all around and his movements unstable. It made moving him difficult, as when Tribdan tried to pick him up, he became more fearful. It was easier to guide him to the rescue boat, even if they had to be a little rougher than they would have liked to get him to actually move.

Once the man was on the boat, Tribdan looked down at the mermaid in the water. "Where's your partner? I haven't seen him since we started," they inquired with more than a bit of worry in their voice. They weren't worried that he had drowned or anything of the sort. If that was the case, wouldn't the mermaid be significantly less calm? All Tribdan wanted was for every person to be accounted for. This was a team effort. The more they lost track of each other, the harder their work might become.

The trio with their heads above water had, as far as they could tell, handily succeeded in saving their first group. The fishing crew, while definitely not in prime condition, were at least stable, and starting to calm down significantly with their newfound safety. Even the woman who had nearly drowned seemed to be holding on.

Tribdan pointing out the missing lizardman from their party, however, immediately snapped the coast guard captain out of what small measure of relief he had allowed himself to settle into. "Shit...did any of you see where he went? Any word?" Some of the crew began peering into the water from the deck, murmuring worriedly.

Meanwhile, as Yvarn continued to pursue the lights, they seemed to increase in pace bit by bit, as if there was further and further mounting desperation to get away from him. Then, abruptly, every single one of the lights in front of him stopped cold. Gradually, they began to dim, until each had entirely gone out. Around him was only the inky, boundless black of the sea...for only a few moments.

One by one, the lizardman would be able to see new lights beginning to glow. They were first in his peripheral view, then above, and if he looked behind himself he would see yet more. Then, finally, one light came on in the direction he had been following. And another. Over and over, faster and faster, more lights blinked into visibility in the formerly vacuous space below, far more than he had ever thought he was chasing. The abrupt, intense brightness was far too much for his eyes to take after minutes spent in near total dark, the only thing visible in the moments that followed being a vaguely helix shaped formation of the lights dashing up towards him.

And then, Yvarn found himself being pushed back up towards the surface at an alarming rate, a powerful pressure from the water jetting him rapidly away from the nest of lights. In no more than ten seconds, he burst up out of the sea, smacking hard on his back into the rescue vessel's deck like an ornery fish who'd decided to pay them all a surprise visit.

Above the water, everyone had been able to see the bright glow turn on, even with it being fairly deep, though less brightly. There was essentially no time to react to this before the missing volunteer was flung back to them, but what happened next would almost certainly steal their collective attention. Below, the glow first seemed to start fading, before it became clear it was simply spreading out into a large ring. Slowly, the ring began to spin counterclockwise, the pace sluggish initially, before gradually beginning to accelerate.

Within about thirty seconds, it was turning fast enough that the dots were blurring together into a solid line, and the already tumultuous, choppy water in the area was becoming even more violent, stemming out from the center of the ring. Immediately, the captain began barking orders to change course, but the outside edge of the still forming whirlpool had already begun to slowly drag at them despite the engine working its hardest. Worse yet, almost directly across from them on the other side of the ring was the next boat they were set to move on to, less wrecked than the first but still far from seaworthy. It too was beginning to be sucked further in, only slowly for now, but it would only get more intense by the minute.

As the lights he was chasing stopped and disappeared, he too made a stop, but to prepare himself as well. The bubble shrank, as its density increased to block any external attack that could happen. As he saw lights appear, he squinted his eyes, thoughtfully. He didn't catch a glimpse of what attacked him, before he knew Yvarn was pushed out of the depths at such a force that if he hadn't shielded himself it wouldn't just hurt... It would probably have killed him.

When he broke the surface, his consciousness was barely holding it together, but was enough to slow his accelerated ascent and eventually grind his descent to a halt. But how high in the air was he right now? The lizardman tried to adjust his eyes to the sudden clash between light and dark they had faced in the depths, he was still seeing dots.

"We have big trouble! Something in the depths is-", he couldn't hope to finish yelling what he noticed, before he noticed the light ring that could now be seen from surface beginning to stir, "Oh dear...". There was no time for Yvarn to relax, he just took a deep breath and went to the boat that was slowly being sucked in.

His plan? Make a sizable air platform to carry its crew to safety. "But even that will take time... Can I... Do it?", his confidence was cracking like an egg under pressure, he never pulled this kind of stunt before...

Rem's eyes went wide and he flinched back a little when Yvarn appeared before them. "What?" was all he managed before a new problem appeared before them.

He watched in confusion as the dots blurred, suddenly realizing what was happening after it was already too late. He was floating, but he started following along with the boat as it moved, still not sure what was causing this or how to handle it. He looked over at Yvarn again with an even more puzzled face as he had no clue what the guy was talking about but hoped whatever he was doing could help them somehow.

He took another moment to look around, analyzing the situation with a great deal of concern. There was no way he could fly everyone back to the beach in time, that would be impossible... He couldn't solve this.

He started to get worked up, but he took a deep breath instead and considered his mentor's teachings. It was okay. He was probably right, he couldn't fix everything, but he could focus on the things he could fix and hope that together all of them could do it.

He called to the others to explain what he was doing. "I'm going to send the ones fairing the worst back to the beach!" He attached wings to both the man Tribdan had rescued and the woman Illu had found underwater, giving them each a fair warning before sending them off. "I apologize in advance, this is going to be a little rougher than last time." Then once again he called to the others. "I can only make two more sets of wings until those reach the shore, do any of you require flight or should I send two more back?!"

A lot happened one after another, yet weirdly enough, Tribdan didn't feel too caught off guard. For such a high tense situation, they expected themself to be more... nervous? Tense? Horrified to see a teammate fly from the ocean and then slam down onto the boat? The best they could muster up was concern for the lizard man while staying focused on the mission. He seemed fine enough to speak. That was good enough for them.

What was most important was the water. Something was underneath there. The lizard man didn't have to point that one out. Instead, they gave him a confused look when he muttered some nonsense. "If you have an idea, speak up. We need to communicate and form a plan."

Remiel's quick control over the situation made Tribdan wear a proud smile. "I can fly by making lava, but I don't want to accidentally hurt anyone." Things were already crazy enough as is. "I may be too heavy to travel by your wings, anyway." They would have advised Remiel to focus on the survivors, but there were two other volunteers who might have use of those wings.

Illu had swum back to the boat and pulled herself up against the edge. She remained in her mermaid form, in case she needed to make a quick dive again.

"He went down to investigate the--"

And before she could finish her sentence, Yvarn was there. Besides being shaken up, he seemed to be alright. She grabbed hold of the railing as she peered down to see what the lights were doing. And good thing she did, or else she would have been knocked right off the boat once the whirlpool started to act up.

"I can handle rough waters. Focus on the survivors."

Her expression was calm, as it tended to be, but internally her mind was reeling. The two boats, the whirlpool, more survivors...

She felt she had two options in this situation.

"I can swim through a whirlpool. I have many times before. But...I will be slowed down considerably. I can try to reach the other boat and help those survivors, or I can attempt to swim down and kill whatever...those things are. But I do not know how difficult they will be to deal with."
