Oh, gym class. It sucked whether you went to a "normal school" or Starlight Academy. You had to wear an ugly uniform, play stupid games, and just generally have a miserable time. Live would have rather been forced to watch romantic comedies than be stuck in gym class for an hour every day.

The class had only just begun and what would yah know? They were going outside. Live had already informed the teacher multiple times that she could NOT be in the sun under any circumstances. She had even done the thing where you got a note from the school doctor. Live was basically allergic to the sun and after just ten minutes in its rays, she'd black out. When Live had heard the announcement that they would be going outside, at first she had been relieved because that usually meant she got to stay inside and do something else. This had already happened multiple times and it was the only good thing that had ever happened in the class. Unfortunately, it was a very cloudy day, though it showed no signs of raining, so Live could join the class outside! She still grabbed her hoodie and hat though. She didn't want any of that sunlight on her skin.

Live huffed as she followed the group outside, staying far to the back. There weren't a lot of kids in the class, maybe about thirty or so, and while just about everyone else in the class had found at least one friend to wade through the disaster with, Live had successfully managed to avoid social contact with anyone thus far. They made it to the sports field and everyone moved to stand around the teacher as they explained that today they would be learning some self defense.

"Well..." Live thought to herself with a sigh, "It's not the worst thing that could happen..."

"Okay! Everyone get in a line!" The teacher yelled. Naturally, Live moved herself to the end of the line. The teacher went down the line, assigning everyone a number one through sixteen. "Now get with the person of the matching number. They will be your sparring partner for the day!" Live groaned internally. Maybe this was the worst thing that could happen.

She looked around to spot the other person who had been assigned number 15. And saw Wesker Straundlin walking towards her. Live let out an audible groan. Why did it have to be this kid? He always had on the most ridiculous smile for literally no reason. It pissed Live off to no end.

Gym class. It was not Wesker's preferred way to pass the time, But until the wonderful technology of maintaining the physique by reading books came to be available it was a necessity. It might be more bearable if they had interesting tests of skill rather then simply running and jumping about.

He was mildly surprised to find that today's physical education would be sparring. Most of the time fighting each other seemed to be discouraged in this class, during the running and jumping. He couldn't tell if the teacher intended to instruct them either, would it just be brawling? He tugged at the sleeves of the tracksuit that covered most of his body, already anticipating the uncomfortable heat it would generate as he waited for his number.

A quick glance down the line informed him of his partner. He took a couple seconds to study Live out of the corner of his eye before he began the walk over to her. "It's rare anyone is disappointed with me after so short a time. Are you privy to something I'm not?" He said with a rather grandiose bow once he reached her, Indicating her groan. "I'm sorry you were dragged out here, Miss Love. I understand the outdoors make you uncomfortable under most conditions. Please, don't hesitate to inform me if you begin to feel feint."

Wow, this was really going to be horrible. Turns out that mister I smile for no reason all the freakin time, was also ridiculously mannered. There wasn't much worse than that.

"Yeah." Live said as he crossed her arms, "I don't think I like you." No point in hiding it right? And besides, he asked.

His bow almost made Live laugh but she contained it with well rehearsed stoicism. Her eyes narrowed as he called her Miss Love. She really hated her last name and couldn't stand when people used it. She didn't like her first name either and that was why she had given herself her own name. "You can call me Live. Thank you very much." Of course the thank you was sarcastic.

She was about to comment about how she didn't need any extra attention just because of being outside. She could handle herself fine. Of course, she didn't get an opportunity to say this because the teacher called everyones attention again as they began to explain the exercises. It wasn't really going to be any fighting. Just really basic what to do if someone is trying to grab you and how to get free. She watched as the teacher demonstrated with another one of the gym teachers who had joined them for the day. They stressed that this was to be done slowly and without force. Today was just about knowing what the moves were. Everyone was to try it five times at least.

Live huffed and turned back to her partner, "Well, who's going first?" She just wanted to get this thing over with.

Wesker tilted his head to the side slightly, a sideways nod that almost made it seem like he'd expected that answer. "I do hope I can change your mind, Live."

Wesker's attention was also diverted to the teacher as he gave his demonstration. His posture shifted slightly as it became apparent that this wasn't even as interesting as sparing. Would this even train his body at all?

As they turned towards each other once more, Wesker just shrugged. "I will." He took a couple casual steps towards her and spread out his arms, waiting a few seconds to give her a chance to object if she wished, then gently grabbed her in one of the positions.

Live thought at first he meant that she would try to grab him first but she realized by his stance that it was going to be the other way around. She sighed a bit. Well, she had to do it anyways. She wasn't quite sure why this activity had warranted going outside but whatever.

She turned around so her back was facing Wesker. He reached his arms around her and she felt horribly awkward and a bit panicked. Her mind went into a bit of a flashback moment but she quickly shook it off and tucked her chin as they were told to do.

Next was set to the side. Easy enough. Then she was suppose to swing her arm back and then up. She swung it back without hitting him but then...well something happened. Live's body kind of just moved on its own and her arm came up way faster than it should have. Hopefully, Wesker moved his head out of the way or he might have ended up with Live's elbow in his jaw.

Wesker had decent reflexes, and he might have been able to remove his face from the trajectory of the elbow if he actually was trying to restrain Live. As it was, he was expecting the demonstrated maneuver, so his attention was focused on that.

Once the blow connected, Wesker disengaged from Live. A grunt of surprise and pain echoed from his mouth, and his hand insinctively grabbed at his face. For a few moments, his smile was absent from his face as he rotated his jaw around a bit. It returned once he was satisfied he was seriously injured, and he began straightening himself as he addressed his partner.

"... Are you alright, Live? I apologies if I scared you, but you shouldn't perform the move so quickly until you have it a bit more practiced." He glanced her over, his eyes slightly colder then before, more wary. He was searching for an explaination in her body language in perhaps a slightly paraniod way.

Live honestly hadn't meant to actually nail the guy in the face; she didn't even think about how fast her arm was going. It looked as though he wasn't substantially hurt and after a few moments of a pained expression, his smile returned and he looked to Live.

Her body stood rigid. Her spine clearly tensed and her arms pulled slightly in front of her torso. Her jaw was clenched and her eyes looked almost scared but mostly angry. She was silent for a moment, her expression changing from a moment of fear to confusion. "You...what?"

For a second, Live's body started to relax and her stoic expression began to return. However, as her brain suddenly registered what had just happened, her brown began to stitch together and her eyes started to look just plain angry.

"I didn't...I didn't do that on purpose you dip shit. And don't fucking apologize to me. I don't need pity from you." She kept her voice lower so neither of the teachers heard. They had both been focused on students on the other end of the field and hadn't seen Live elbow Wesker. A couple of the groups near by seemed to take notice but not enough to stop what they were doing or call attention to the teachers..yet at least.

Wesker's eyes dances over Live's form, taking in the defensive posture and alighting on her expression. His own gaze showed something hard to place, something like a sinister curiosity. Eventually he turned his back to her with a light shrug of his shoulders.

"It seems I was correct, you are an interesting one, Live. Do you always bare such animosity? I wonder if even your smile could light up your eyes as much as that fire." He waved his hand in the air beside him dismissively, as if his words had turned into an annoyence on the wind and he was shooing them away. "I offer you only simple kindnesses, no pity. But if you do not desire them then I shall restrain myself from wasting them on you, Live. We do have more to do."

She saw the look in his eyes and she didn't like it. It was like she was some puzzle he was looking forward to solving. Live wasn't someone who liked people trying to figure her out.

Live huffed, "Kindess. Pity. Same thing." She grumbled as she crossed her arms. "And you have no idea the kind of fire that my eyes have." She was tempted to actually show the boy what she meant but one of the teachers had started walking towards their end of the field. "Fine. Lets just get this stupid shit over with..."

However, Live didn't quite trust herself to try the exercise again yet, but she couldn't let him know that. "Why don't you go. Show me how it's done." The words were meant to be patronizing.

Wesker might have argued the difference of pity and kindness with Live, had he not already decided it would be a waste of words. Instead he continued to address the other point while approaching Live once more. "Oh, I'm sure I don't. That would require far more intimate affairs." It was an obviously provocative statement, daring Live to react.

After a notable pause, Wesker simply turned his back to Live again all too trustingly. "Very Well, whenever you are ready." Assuming Live wouldn't deviate from the instructed maneuver, Wesker would swing his arms over his head, duck out of her grasp, and turn to face her with am unnecessary flourish of the hand back towards her, almost as if asking her to dance with him.
