Causing Mischief

While Paul was thinking to himself, Tania deducted that the oddly shaped clicker thing had something important to do with the thing called a computer. She put her hand on it gingerly as though she might break it. She moved it a little bit and a little arrow shaped thing moved around. Cool!

"Um. Yep. That's what I'm saying." She replied.

He frowned at her reply before noticing she was using the mouse. "Erm, well you figured out how to use the mouse. It is quite important to using a computer. Try clicking on one of those icons on the side of the screen." He started thinking again for a few seconds before coming up with another question. "Uh...can you read?"

Tania did so. She clicked a blue 'e' with an almost circle around it. A white screen came up. "Of course." She said indignantly, not bothering to mention that she couldn't read very well yet.

"Okay..that's the internet. It's a big err.. place where a bunch of computers hook up to so they can trade information and stuff." He just now realized how difficult explaining this stuff to her would really be. She didn't even have a point to be here so he had no clue where to begin explaining this to her. He was quiet for the next several seconds as he couldn't think of anything to say to her concerning this "internet".

Tania nodded. She understood that much. Sort of. "Okay. Well, what do I do now?" She asked. She tried to read the words on the screen, but it didn't really work.

"Um.. well.. I don't know... there is so many things you can do.. I can't just tell you what to do now..."Well, he was stumped. She was going to have no clue how to work this thing, and probably dislike computers from now on all because of him. He sighed, then came up with something.

"I got it! Here, try this." He clicked on a few things here and there, and eventually online checkers came up. "Have you played this game before?"

Tania looked at the screen quizically. "Oh!...No, I've never played it before." She remembered seeing people play it in a cafe or something once. "But I've seen people play it before." She added, in case that helped any. "What do I do?"

"Well umm see you move your pieces like this.." He took over for a few seconds. "And try to make them jump over your opponent's pieces like this." He ended up getting really into the game and after that last sentence he didn't say anything else for quite a while, it was if he completely forgot he was supposed to be showing her how to play and instead was more interested in actually playing himself.

Tania didn't really care that he had taken over. She was watching intently. "How are the other pieces moving by themselves?" She asked confusedly. She still didn't get the whole jist of the internet.
