"Oh! I see." Tania said. She started swinging her legs back and forth. She clapped when he won. "Sure, I'll give it a whirl." She said with a careless shrug.

Tania nodded. "Okay." She concentrated on the game, but the other person won. "Fudge!" She exclaimed. "Can I play again?"

He held back a laugh when she lost. "Of course you can play again, you can play as much as you want." He nodded and set up a new game for her. "Don't worry, it was only your first time, you'll get a lot better if you practice. And then you can play more challenging games if you want."

Tania was surprised there was anything more challenging than checkers. It took a lot of concentration. "Okay. Like what?" She asked, waiting for her turn.

"Well.. Chess, for instance. It is similar to checkers but you have different pieces that do different things.. and you don't just jump other pieces to win. Heh.. its really complicated for a newcomer. Why don't you get used to this game first before starting something like Chess.."

Tania nodded. She was totally fine by that. Chess confused her just by listening about it. She jumped one of her opponents pieces proudly.

"You're doing better this game." He noted. "You're a fast learner, aren't you?" He had officially decided that this person was the weirdest person he had met yet in this entire school. She didn't even seem human. Maybe she wasn't? Corona had told him stories of strange creatures that lived hundreds of years ago and had since then gone extinct. 'Fairy-ish' she had said earlier. What the heck did that mean?

Tania nodded absently, concentrating on the game. She probably would have explained if he had asked, but he hadn't.

She glared at the computer screen as one of her pieces was jumped.

"You're gonna win!" He tried cheering her on even though the game seemed more even at this point. "Don't give up just because you lost one of your pieces.." He answered to the look she gave when one of her pieces was jumped. "Take 2 pieces from them for every piece you lose!"
