Oh dear. Havoc wasn't exactly the most socially aware person, but even he could function just fine. He understood names, for example, although he supposed it was possible she was a literal alien or something of the sort.

"You can simply call me Havoc," he corrected, not bothering to correct that his whole name was not, in fact, James Havoc By The Way.

"Most don't bother to learn to defend themselves since the skill is so rarely called upon. I plan to make it clear that learning to defend yourself is an important skill, and something that everyone should learn."

He didn't really like calling it learning to fight. Self defense was a different thing to Havoc. They were learned in different ways, and for different reasons, although he supposed that not everyone would agree.

He returned her handshake with one of his own, blissfully unaware that his hand was moments away from being mashed potatoes.

"Are you originally from the mundane side of earth?" He asked, unsure of if she was even human.

Milk nodded. Alright, Just Havoc. She had thought that was an odd name, but she supposed she's seen weirder in her time. She was quite enjoying this conversation, Havoc was a very good influence. She would vote for him in this election. If she knew how, of course. Was she allowed to vote? That might be something she could look into.

"Indeed. It is a very valuable skill to have. I would not be alive without it." She said, quite matter-of-factly. Her voice hadn't changed inflection once since she started talking. It was very polite of Havoc to not comment on it.

His words were confusing her now.

"Mundane side? I do not know what you mean." She asked, tilting her head to the side slightly.

It was probably for the best that Milk didn't describe Havoc's name as weird. After all, her own name was considered significantly weirder than his. Most people thought his name was a nickname, but when he established it was a surname, most smiled and nodded. Some even guessed at what possible origin it could have.

Milk, on the other hand, was not really a name in any culture.

"Ordinary humans, living ordinary lives in ordinary cities. Those who don't know about magic, and aliens, and supernatural powers."

Maybe that was a 'no'?

"Oh. Yes. I come from there." She says. What is with people around here and asking questions with incorrect words. It's very distracting and confusing to everyone involved.

"I was raised in a city in New York. I don't remember the name." She said, shrugging She couldn't remember the actual name of the city she was raised in, only that it was home to the orphanage she grew up in.

She needed to visit that again, she thought. Its been a while since her last trip there.

"Why do you ask?" It was a perfectly valid question. One second they were talking about papers, and now they were talking about Milk? Odd.

She was raised in New York? Havoc was struggling a bit with that, his eyebrows furrowed together. There was a short beep--the copy machine needing attention--but Havoc was having a hard time wrapping his head around it.

Maybe, Havoc thought, she just wasn't terribly intelligent.

"You seemed unfamiliar with how the school would run elections, which is fairly standard in developed countries. I thought you might be from another planet, or some alternative universe. A large number of students are, and it stood to reason that the faculty might be as well."

It hadn't occurred to Havoc that Milk might simply be from more impoverished circumstances then him. Havoc had grown up firmly in the middle classes of America, and he was far from the most accepting of people. He thought of the poor among his unit as being 'poor', when really even they were only on the lower side of middle class. The fact that the island was set up with such excellent welfare didn't help his misconceptions either.

Milk nodded. "I have not been involved in anything similar in the past." She said stiffly.

"Why would my not being familiar with this election process mean i am from another planet? I can not survive in space, I am a human." She said, shaking her head. Humans from another planet. Silly. What kind of human could survive in space? A non existent one. It was almost as silly as a giant who lived on a cloud.

Havoc certainly was an interesting person. He had quite the imagination.

"Why are you so surprised?" She asked, taking another bite of her onion, the crisp crunch sounding much louder in the quiet room.

Havoc stared at Milk, his eyebrows furrowing together ever so slightly. It was one thing not to know about elections, but to not know that there were humans who hailed from off the earth...?

"There are students," Havoc said, his tone somewhat wary. "Who are not from earth originally. Many of them would identify as humans, and have lived in spaceships or on other planets."

The entire conversation was bizarre from the word go. Was she really a teacher? Why was he, a student, having to explain things to her?

The photocopier beeped again, and Havoc half-turned to give it his attention, loading Nix's posters into the machine to be copied. He wasn't trying to ignore Milk, not at all, but he was on a schedule.

Milk was confused. People actually lived in space? Strange, quite strange. She would have never expected that to be the case.

"Are you sure? That does not sound easy to believe." She said, her face showing emotion finally, frowning slightly. She shook her head.

"I suppose I must take your word for it." She said, taking another bite of her onion. She said nothing past that, feeling that she didn't have anything else to add. She didn't see the point in completely superfluous conversation.

She merely continued to finish her onion, watching Havoc photocopy posters.

The entire conversation felt ever so slightly unreal to Havoc. It was like it was a dream, or some kind of illusion. Maybe he was being tricked.

The whole thing was bizarre no matter which way he looked at it.

"I am sure," Havoc said firmly. "I've met some. Some even live full time on the space station." Which he'd never visited, but he knew the idea in theory at least. "You should visit on your spare time. You might find it enlightening."

The photocopier whirred away, making copy after copy as Havoc turned once again to Milk. He had no intention of ignoring her, even if he did find her quite strange.

"Did you have any questions about the election...?" Havoc asked, unsure of if she really understood what it was he'd been talking about it.

Milk blinked, her eyes actually widening slightly in surprise at Havoc's casual mention of the interstellar station.

"The space station?"

She shook her head, frowning. "This is one of those 'practical jokes'. You are a good joke maker." She nodded, finding this a reasonable solution to the query.

She nodded at his actual question, noting his unsure tone. She did actually have a few questions for the young man.

"Yes. Why are you in it?" She asked, unaware that it was probably rude to phrase it the way she did.
