Klaus' baby sister Gladys was coming to stay with him today! He'd only met her once, but she was absolutely precious, and great cuddle material. He was already biased, deciding she was one of his most adorable siblings. He loved all of them, of course, but he did have his favorites. The teeny tiny demon vampire girl with a 'look at me' aura, little fangs, currently useless wings, and ribbon decorated hair was sure to have an easy chance at climbing the rankings- especially now that she was going to live with him.

Some of his minions were supposed to be meeting up with dad's at a portal, then driving Gladys (in a nice car with tinted windows- he's got your sun allergy covered kiddo) to his current most used living place, a tall house near the strip.

Klaus already had a lot of her stuff set up in one of the guest rooms, as well as a few surprise gifts he'd pestered dad and her mom for advice with. Apparently she wasn't familiar with them, and it'd always been a fun part of his childhood, so a cute little handheld video game console (and starter games he thought a baby sister might like) was included in the presents. Dolls and clothes seemed to be the thing to go with in terms of risk-free offerings.

He wondered if she liked movies? They could have movie nights, that seemed like a good sibling thing to do- and Klaus very much considered himself a good older brother. The best, even. Oh yes.

Anyway, he'd stayed home to be there to greet her at the door, and to be the most prepared to help her settle in.

Something he hadn't needed to change was the fact that, even though it was afternoon, the windows already had blinds covering them. Klaus was a bit of a night owl himself, ready to fight the sun for its constant rude attempts to blind him, and, well… an infamous, high alert criminal. Didn't need anyone peeking in his windows and running off to play tattletale like terrified child. The actual child coming here now? Way better.

Klaus was wearing his more casual clothes (including heart shaped sunglasses) today, and he'd just finished making some varied sandwiches, in case Gladys was hungry. And churros- which were. Well, he'd wanted to eat churros, so that was that, and munched on them while he waited. He was prepared.

Living with a kid couldn't be too tough, right?

Gladys met Klaus' minions at the portal. Her stuff was packed into the trunk of the car, and she stepped into the vehicle with some assistance. They made sure she was appropriately shaded so that the poor girl didn't suffer due to her sun allergy. Being half-vampire was problematic. The minions all focused on her thanks to it being both their job and also because of the constant aura that radiated from her. They entertained her with hand games like Pattycake and Numbers and permitted her to rest against them if she needed. Throughout the whole trip, she felt excited and bubbly. She was going to live with her cool older half-brother, yay!

When the car pulled up to the condo, she immediately snapped off her seat belt. The guards sitting on either side of her prevented her from scurrying out of the car; they had to whip out the umbrella for her. The little girl stepped out of the shaded car and underneath the umbrella held by one of the minions. She strolled over to the front door. Her eyes scanned the premises. Oh! Big Brother put blinds in all of the windows! None of the blinds were opened. Were they for her?! Awww, he was so thoughtful! She didn't know about his criminal background yet. It likely wouldn't bother her anyway. She was a daughter of Mammon after all.

The moment she spotted her brother she dived for his arms. She demanded hugs! Food could wait; she wanted hugs!

Klaus opened his arms wide at just the right moment, catching Gladys without a flinch, then lifting her up and giving her a spin. He laughed, and pulled her back close again to cuddle.

He nodded to and waved off his employees so they could take the car back (not to mention, get to other work for him, it wasn't their day off yet), and he and his sister could have some one on one time. He nudged the front door shut with his shoulder, still holding the little girl, and leaned on it.

"Hey kiddo, nice seein' you again. How was your trip? You look happy, so I'm gonna assume it went well, and I don't have to yell at anyone, right? Only the best for us greedsters." Klaus gave Gladys' hair a ruffle, and set her back down again.

"So listen, I know it's normal to get homesick… which is why I got so much stuff to distract you! Who cares about normal emotional responses when you can have material wealth? And food, are you hungry? We can sit down to eat and chat, or you can settle your belongings into your new room and check out the surprises there, whatever you want. I can give you a tour, too, of the house and of the city. Tons of options. Your day today, sis."

Yay, free hugs and cuddles! Laughter echoed from the girl as she was spun around. She paid no attention to the minions that were exiting the house. All of her attention was on her brother. Her little arms clung to him as he held her tight. She immediately felt at home in her new environment; while being outside of Hell was weird, that didn't bother her much. She would adapt to Manta Carlos quickly. Gladys glanced up at the sunglasses-wearing man. The heart-shaped lens were pretty goofy, but to the six-year-old they were awesome. She wanted to have heart-shaped sunglasses too! Pink ones would go nice with some of her dresses.

"It was good! The people were really nice to me! We played Pattycake!"

Once she was back on the ground, she turned away to look at her surroundings. While this place was not a mansion, it was certainly nice and well decorated. She loved it! She hadn't seen her room yet, but hopefully her room was great too! If not, then she could easily have it decorated with lots of pretty flowers and ribbons, right? Her stomach growled. It had been a while since she eaten. Thankfully she already had her necessary dosage of blood, so any food would do. She skipped over to the kitchen.

"I'm hungry! Can we eat? Then I wanna explore the city!"

Gladys had a fairly good idea of what she desired to do on her first day here. She was not the indecisive type; wanting the "all of the above" option did not count as indecisive!

"Fantastic! I'll have to offer extra pay for 'outstanding pattycake playing'," Klaus decided, nodding. "S'how people work, gotta reinforce good behavior with rewards."

He grinned at the telling noises Gladys' body was giving as a response to him talking about food. He trailed along lazily after the energetic little girl, then passed her to enter the kitchen. There was an island in the middle of the large space, what he'd prepared set out on its countertop.

Klaus lifted his sister up, twirling her again once, then setting her down on a chair that was likely too tall for her to climb up on her own. He took his own seat beside her and snatched up another churro to eat. "Sandwiches and fried sugary goodness," he said, words already half muffled by his own munching.

"So kiddo, have you never been up here before? How much should I be filling you in on? Feel free to pester your brother with all the questions you can think of, that's what I'm here for."

"Well, I mean, the whole guardian thing, and snuggles. Snuggling you and lookin' at your cute little face, that's what I get out of this." He reached out with his crumbs free hand to boop her nose.

She realized that she couldn't get up on the chair. However, her older brother was on the case as he quickly swooped her up shortly after the realization hit her brain. He figured it out before she did. The girl laughed and clapped cheerfully as she was twirled around. He was so awesome! The moment she landed on the chair, she began chowing down on the food. Good, it wasn't peanut butter. She disliked peanut butter; that caused her fangs to get stuck together. That was incredibly uncomfortable. It was her first time eating a churro, so she only had a small nibble at first. Her eyes widen as the sweetness filled her mouth and she immediately shoved the whole churro in her mouth.

"What is this fried sugary goodness! It's so tasty!"

She consumed more churros. They were so delicious! How did her big brother know about them? Did it have something to do with his mother? Did his mom teach him about them, or were they a popular treat on this island? Either way, she absolutely loved it. Lunch was delicious. The girl beamed cheerfully as she listened to his words. A giggle escaped her lips as he tapped her nose.

"I've never been to Earth before! I don't know much about here. I want to know about all the places, the people, and if there's any more snacks like these!"

She pointed at the churros. Excitement rang in the little girl's voice and expression. Her happiness was infectious.

"Churros! They're popular where I'm from-" He stumbled in his words for a moment. "Not Hell, I mean. Hell is home, yes, but Spain is where I was born." Most of his siblings just didn't get it, and he wouldn't expect Gladys to, either. But he at least thought she might be less hostile to the concept if she learned about it early on. Half human, and not even originating in the terrifying underworld, or whatever.

Maybe that was why he was so different.

And so fantastic. It gave him a major upper hand here, really! He knew his way around perfectly and got shit done like an adult, while others were still standing around, baffled idiots, doing inappropriate things left and right and getting themselves in trouble. He often ended up the one bailing them out, too, and then they owed him. Fucking perfect, he loved it.

Gladys, he would be kind to, and perhaps she'd end up with her own upper hand. She was young- meaning she could still learn a lot more naturally- cute, and one of his own. Wasn't too cocky and annoying yet, either. She deserved to be a little more genuinely taken under his wing. Klaus smirked.

"You, kiddo, are going to love it here, I can tell. Maybe even more than Hell, if you and I have anything in common tastes-wise, and I think we do. Just remember to always listen to your brother, and no end of good things will come from this whole situation."

His eyes glittered under his sunglasses. "I'll tell you a secret, too. You don't know what real living and want is like until you come up here, where people have to fight for it, passion mixing with a certain… desperation. You'll understand. You will. Everything stands out more, too, especially us. Nothing better than that. Take advantage of everything, Gladys."
